The High Court of Judicature at Allahabad, located in Prayagraj,
Uttar Pradesh, is one of the oldest and most prestigious high courts
in India, established in 1866. It exercises jurisdiction over the entire
state of Uttar Pradesh and hears appeals, writs, and other matters
arising from subordinate courts and authorities. The High Court is
known for its vast caseload and significant contributions to
constitutional and legal development in India. It comprises multiple
benches and includes Hon’ble Judges who preside over a wide range
of matters, including civil, criminal, constitutional, service, and writ
jurisdictions.
II. Nature & Duration of Internship
I completed an 8-week internship under the mentorship of
Advocate Jitendra Pratap Singh at the High Court of Judicature at
Allahabad, Prayagraj, from 04 July 2022 to 28 August 2022. The
internship focused on litigation practice at the High Court level and
involved observing court proceedings, assisting in drafting petitions,
writs, and legal notices, and conducting in-depth legal research on
various constitutional, civil, and criminal matters. The experience
helped me understand the nuances of higher judiciary practice,
case law interpretation, and procedural law in action, while also
enhancing my legal drafting and analytical skills.
III. Learnings during the Internship
During my internship, I gained practical exposure to various aspects of legal work,
including drafting petitions, agreements, and legal opinions. I developed strong
research skills by analyzing case laws, statutes, and legal precedents to support
arguments. The internship enhanced my understanding of procedural laws and
courtroom practices while refining my ability to present complex legal issues in a
concise and structured manner.
