• Investigated the economic, socio-cultural and psychological factors that influence individuals
to join harmful Religious cults also known as New Religious Movements (NRMs).
• Employed qualitative methods, including ethnography and interviews with religious leaders
and former cult members.
• Analyzed findings using sociological theory and proposed recommendations to reduce
social vulnerability and Improve protective community systems.
• Findings highlighted that institutional gaps, weak governance, poverty, low literacy levels, and
social exclusion were key influencing factors.
