Document Checklist for Study Visa - University enrollment

1. Application Form (D) completely filled and signed.
2. One recent photograph (not photoshopped) 35x40 mm with white background, NOT attached
to the forms.
3. Confirmation of pre-admission to the chosen course via the Universitaly portal.
4. University admission letter accompanied by Form A completed and signed.
5. Original of the Italian translation of the identity card (shenasnameh) and copy of the
complete Italian translation legalized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of
Justice.
a. The original identity document must be shown to the operator at the counter when
submitting the visa application
6. Original and a copy of the first page of the passport (A4 size). The minimum passport validity
should be 3 months after the visa date of expiry, with at least two unused passport pages.
7. Accommodation availability: hotel reservation (the cost must be visible) in the University
City, in the name of the applicant, or rental contract already signed, or guarantee of
availability of accommodation in the university residence, or declaration of hospitality. In
this last case, also provide an invitation letter (form used for a tourist visa) and a copy of the
inviting person's documents (identity card / passport, valid residence permit. If the inviting
party declares to host the visa applicant at their home, it is necessary to provide documents
relating to the inviting party's place of residence (rental contract and registration receipt) –
this request does not apply to Italian / EU citizens.
8. Language certification (these documents are valid for 2 years): Copy of the certificate
attesting language proficiency at a level no lower than B2:
a. For courses in English, certified with at least the minimum marks indicated:
IELTS – 6; TOEFL – 78; FCE – 169
b. For courses in Italian, at least level B2 of the certifications recognized by the MUR
for the purpose of obtaining the "Italian Quality Certification" (CLIQ) - CELI, CILS,
Roma Tre and Dante Alighieri.
9. For Three-year Bachelor and single-cycle degree courses:
a. Original of the Italian translation of the final secondary school diploma, obtained
with at least 12 years of schooling and four-year report, legalized by the Ministry
of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Justice.
b. Original of the Italian or English translation of the degrees prior to the last
graduation degree. These documents do not need to be legalized.
c. The original certificates must be shown to the operator at the counter when
submitting the visa application.
10. For Master's degree and level II diploma courses:
 a. Original of the Italian translation of the Bachelor degree and four-year report,
legalized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Justice.
b. Original of the Italian or English translation of the degrees prior to the last
graduation degree. These documents do not need to be legalized.
c. The original certificates must be shown to the operator at the counter when
submitting the visa application.
11. Proof of possession of the minimum economic requirements for the intended stay, equal to
534.41 Euros per month, equal to 6947.33 Euros (13 months), for each month of the
academic year.
12. Bank statement for the last 6 months in English. The issue date of the bank statement must
not be earlier than one week from the date of submission of the visa application.
a. If the account of a parent or spouse is presented, the following must be attached:
shenasnameh and document certifying the relation of the family member (translated
into Italian and legalized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Justice),
employment contract or documentation certifying the work position, social insurance,
declaration of income (translated into Italian /English).
b. The original identity documents must be shown to the operator at the counter when
submitting the visa application.
13. The availability of 6947.33 Euros whilst studying in Italy must be proven through personal
means or parental resources or guaranteed by foreign or Italian citizens residing in Italy or
provided by reliable foreign institutions and bodies. The exhibition of cash or a bank
guarantee is not suitable for this requirement. The Visa Office holds the right to request
additional documents regarding the financial situation of the guarantor. The mentioned
documents are aimed at demonstrating with certainty that the guarantor, on a monthly
basis, possesses sufficient financial means to fully support the visa applicant once in Italy.
14. Copy of health insurance for medical treatment and hospital stays.
15. Copy of the airline ticket in the applicant's name. The outward flight booking must be
consistent with the start of the course of study

**For applicants of Afghan nationality**

Given the impossibility of recognizing documents or certifications produced by the Afghan
authorities, in the case of identity documents it is necessary to provide documentation produced
by the Afghan diplomatic-consular representations in Italy or in Iran (in the latter case the
documentation must be legalized by the competent Iranian authorities).
Declaration by the visa applicant
The absence of one or more documents required in this checklist may result in the rejection of the
application. The validation of the pre-enrolment application for a course of study and the related
documentation produced by the institutions of higher education in Italy, as well as the presentation
of a complete file with all the required documentation, do not guarantee the issuing of the visa; the
final decision is exclusive competence of the Embassy. The Italian Embassy reserves the right to
summon applicants for a consular interview. Pursuant to the articles. 331 and 332 of the Italian CPP,
in the case of presentation of false documentation, a complaint will be filed with the Italian judicial
authority and a report will be made to the Schengen partner countries.
