From the Graveyard of the Arousal Industry by Justin Pearson
In Justin Pearson s memoir, From the Graveyard of the arousal Industry, he recounts the events that
occured from his early years of adolesence to the latter years of his adulthood telling the story of
his unforgiving and candid life. Set in the late 1970s Punk rock era, From the Graveyard of the
Arousal Industry offers a valuable perspective about the role culturetakes in our lives, how we
interact with it and how it differs from ideology.

Explaining the relationship between Culture and Ideology in one of his propositions in Critical
Practice, George Grinnell notes Culture delivers an ideology that is dedicated to keeping the status
quo more or less intact (Grinnell 46). More than this, he goes on to advocate that ... Show more

My analysis will show how interested Pearson is in distinguishing culture from that of ideology, and
exploring the ways in which it manifests itself in our lives.

With respect to the conventional cultural practices and ideologies that were in effect during the late
1970s, Pearson is often deviant throughout his memoir in regards to his personnel lifestyle choices,
from the way he dressed to the type of music he listens to. Pearson uses this deviation to aid in the
distinguishability between culture and society implemented ideologies, yet he does so ever so
subtly. One of the more subtle distinctions, is in a scene he recounts from when he was around the
age of seven:

He [Pearson s father] would freak out when he read the song titles to the cassettes that my friends
and I would shoplift from the mall...He was certain that I d become a Junkie if I listened to that
kind of music. But with an alcoholic wife beater father who didn t give a shit about his son I was
bound to avoid the cliched, nihilist aspects of punk culture (Pearson 12).

Pearson uses the word that in place of a specific genre title, such as punk , to highlight a subtle,
underlying conventional ideology one that is solely dictated by what society considers to be socially
acceptable. The fact that the music Pearson was listening to at the time had a stereotype [Junkie]
associated with it,
Case Study Of Folklore, Myths And Fantasy
Fairytale, Folklore, Myths and Fantasy: A Case Study based on JK Rowling s Harry Potter series

Abstract

Fantasy is a genre of literature which gives flexibility and scope to the writers to explore their
thoughts. Fantasy depends upon the imagination and creativity of the writer. We can define fantasy as
a genre of literature that is far removed from reality, set in a world beyond our thinking such as
house on moon or any other planet, a place in the middle of ocean etc. The characters of fantasy are
often uncanny means these are non human creatures such as elfs, werewolves, giants, trolls,
dragons. Many fantasy stories include the elements of folklore and based upon the ancient or cultural
myths of the particular age or dynasty. This article ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We can say that myth plays an important role in constructing the plot of the fantasy work. Myth
means ideas, thoughts, and images that have the relationship with folklores, fairy tales, spiritual
stories, stories of Gods and legends. Donna Rosenberg has expressed her thoughts on myths in her
introduction to the World Mythology, Myths symbolize human experience and embody the
spiritual values of a culture....Some explain origins, natural phenomenon, and death; others
describe the nature and function of divinities; while still others provide models of virtuous
behaviour by relating the adventures of the heroes or the misfortunes of arrogant humans.(xv)
Myths and folklores have a broad range of functions in fantasy literature. In his article Folklore
and Fantastic Literature, C.W. Sullivan III mentions the functions of myth that is particularly
important to second world, or high fantasy. J.R.R. Tolkien has made a great use of fantasy in his
On Fairy Stories. It is not easy for one to think fantasy literature without taking into consideration
the fairytale. Max Luthi states that The fairytale is a universe in miniature. (25) Fantasy is a very
creative art which requires skills and perfection otherwise it would convey adverse effect. Tolkien
thinks that fantasy is not a lower but a higher form of art, indeed nearly the most pure form, and so
(when achieved) the most potent. (On Fairy Stories 45) When creating a fantasy, writer uses it as
an art and takes the fantasy very seriously. Fantasy must not to be made fun of, in doing so it loses

Designing A Remake Centric Film Festival From A Project Essay
Research

I got the idea to create a remake centric film festival from a project I did in another film class. In
that class, my group and I decided to do a presentation on horror film remakes. While trying to
decide on while two films to talk about, I found that a multitude of horror films had been remade. I
continued looking up films that had been remade and eventually made it through the lengthy list of
horror films, and found other genres that have had remakes. Once I found enough content to pad out
a film line up, I settled on remakes as my theme and began my research on the actual film festival
aspect.
After seeing that the list of film remakes was dominated by the horror genre, I decided that T2
would not be another horror fest. I tried to select films from a broad range of genres, all while
making sure that the horror genre was well represented. I was astonished that the fourth horror film
ever made was a remake of the first horror film ever made (Follows, The Scale of Hollywood
Remakes and Reboots ), Georges Méliès 1896 Le Manoir du diable, was remade into The Haunted
Castle in 1897 by George Albert Smith. Horror is the most commonly remade genre because
societal fears have evolved over time, and though the stories remain the same, the scare tactics are
rejuvenated to be more effective.
The production/success of remakes has declined over the past decade (Follows, The Scale of
Hollywood Remakes and Reboots ), but it appears that remakes are set to make a
Constitutionalism in England in the 17th Century
Analyze the development of Constitutionalism in England during the 17th century. England s
lengthy history of hereditary monarchs and abusive absolutists has led to the system of
constitutionalism in 17th century English government. The encouragement of these absolutism
practices triggered the need to search for a new way to govern. The reigns of the Stuart monarchy led
to the shift from absolutism to constitutionalism during 17th century England. After witnessing the
success of Louis XIV s of France establishment of absolutism, England would soon see that James I,
and his son Charles I, will fail at establishing absolutism in England and see a constitutional
government established. After the death of Elizabeth I, the last of the... Show more content on

The success of Parliament during the first phase of the English Civil War can be attributed to
Oliver Cromwell s New Model Army. This army consisted of radical Puritans and Independents,
who believed they were fighting for God. Cromwell was one of the Independents. The first phase
of the war was ended with capture of Charles I. Blinded by his belief in divine right, Charles took
advantage Parliament s troubles and decided to flee to the Scots for protection. The Rump
Parliament now accused the king of treason saying that he had acted as a tyrant, traitor, murder,
and a public enemy to the good people of the nation. Charles was beheaded for his actions in 1649
and his attempt at absolutism was put an end. This was a great achievement in the rise of
absolutism, as Parliament continued to gain more power in England with every passing
monarchy. After the death of Charles I, his son Charles II rose to power (during the civil war).
The Roundheads, supporters of Parliament, were victorious by the end of the English Civil War.
Oliver Cromwell became Lord Protector of England and held all executive power; legislative power
was given to Parliament. Cromwell came to find that it was difficult to work with Parliament, even
more so when members debated his authority. Six years after the death of Charles I, who Cromwell
fought so hard to eliminate, Cromwell himself had done the exact same thing as Charles; demolish
Parliament.
Springboard Diving As A Discourse Community
Springboard Diving as a Discourse Community
The world of diving has been around since the 1800 s and has been seen at the Olympic games
since 1904. It first started off being called fancy diving where the aim was to plunge into the water
and see who could achieve the furthest depth underwater. It then progressed and became more
complex involving specific skills and dives which first only men were allowed to participate in, and
later women came into the society. To this day, divingis one of the most popular events watched at
the Olympic games; however this community remains small and structured because of its intricate
characteristics ( History of Diving , 1). Diving has been influenced by the constant updating of
technology and is incorporated in this world through high schools, colleges and universities as well
as numerous sporting events that occur around the world. A theorist named John Swales analyzes
communities in more detail and states that communities continue to develop and change throughout
the years and further calls these communities, discourse communities.
John Swales defines a discourse community as a group of people involved in and communicating
about a particular topic, issue, or in a particular field (Swales, 215). He specifies a discourse
community through academics; however, there are countless discourse communities worldwide that
can be perceived. Swales also analyzes a speech community, and how a discourse community and
speech community are two
Christopher Columbus And His Four Voyages
Christopher Columbus and his Four Voyages

The Four Voyages, is an instantaneous account each single voyage taken by Christopher Columbus,
what he and his men stumbled upon in the New World, and the long standing effects these European
conquistadors did face throughout it. Throughout Columbus s life as an explorer he went on four
great voyages and made many great discoveries. Christopher Columbus s four voyages were both
that of exploration and imperialism. The lands which he discovered, he claimed not only for
himself, but also for the Spanish Crown, although he had very minimal idea as to where their exact
location were. All through the end of his existence Columbus continued to believe that Cuba,
Hispaniola (which now consists of the Dominican Republic and Haiti), and the Indies which
compromised of many other islands located someplace off of Chinas coast, and possible stops to
the kingdom of the Great Khan who over 200 hundred years prior, Marco Polo had written about.

Columbus sailed from Palos, Spain, on August 3rd 1492 on three small vessels, the Santa María,
directed by Christopher Columbus himself, the Pinta which was commanded under Martín Pinzón,
and the Niña which was under Vicente Yáñez Pinzón comand. The three ships halted at the Canary
Islands, the Columbus sailed west from September 6th 1492 until October 7th 1492, he altered his
route and headed southwest. Soon after switching direction Columbus and his men landed on a
minute island in the Bahamas.
Green Bay Packers Characteristics
The Green Bay Packers are one of the most notable teams in the NFL and all of sports. The four
time Super Bowl champions have a few negative qualities, including bad defenses in the past and
recent years of unsuccessful playoff runs. However, the negatives do not outweigh the team s
powerhouse offense and Super Bowl trophies. The team was founded in 1919 and had very little
success until 1929. This is the start of the Green Bay Packersthat most people know as Titletown .
From 1929 to present day, the Packers have won 13 championships. That being the most
championships won by a single team in NFL history. While the Green Bay Packers are a very
successful team, they have had their up s and down s.
One of the team s biggest strengths is their powerhouse offense. But the man under center is what
makes that powerhouse offense run. That man is Aaron Rodgers. Aaron Rodgers is one of the best
quarterbacks in the league if not the best. His statistics are unbelievable. He has the highest
quarterback rating in NFL history at 103.8, while the second closest is 98.9. He has thrown 300
touchdowns to only 74 interceptions. That being a 4:1 touchdown to interception ratio, also the best
in NFL history. One of his most impressive streaks was his success at home. In 2015, he threw an
interception at home. The last one he threw at home before that was in 2012. He went three years
without throwing an interception at home. Truly a remarkable feat. In 2011, Aaron had one of the
best seasons
Analysis Of Robert Kagan s Article The Importance Of...
Robert Kagan s article The Importance of U.S. Military Might Shouldn t be underestimated
examines whether or not implementing defense cuts would be good for the US national interests.
He argues that it would not be good idea due to the U.S s use of the military force to help spread
democracy around the world and upholding the international system. He fears that these defense
budget reductions will lead to U.S. forced to cede power over to other countries due to the
reduction of the U.S. s ability to provide security. Kagan uses concepts from realism and idealism

Kagan emphasizes idealist concepts of international order and soft power. However, Kagan then
argues against using these concepts all the time. He states that soft power has its limits. US can be
popular and loved and then be hated throughout the world, however US military power dominance is
always a constant means to keep international order. People hated the US during the Vietnam era,
nut the countries that rely on the US for security will overlook their people s hatred for the U.S.
dominance in favor of keeping the alliance that protects them from threatening neighbors.(2) The
international order depends on U.S. military not its popularity, economy, or other means. The
ability to use diplomacy to pursue peace is also impeded if there is no commitment to defense
spending. Congress s refusal to commit military power to defense of peace limited President s
Wilson ability to shape peace and put in place the League of Nations. (2) Thus, the concepts of
idealism, soft power and international order, cannot be relied on all the time. He then moves on to a
realist perspective in explaining stopping the budget cuts are in the U.S. national
Examples Of Medical Negligence
Medical Negligence

Negligence means the breach of a legal duty to care. In wider sense it means carelessness in a
matter in which law mandates carefulness. Negligence is a predominant theory of liability
concerning allegations of medical malpractice. Medical malpractice occurs when a health care
provider deviates from the recognized standard of care in the treatment of a patient. The standard of
care is defined as what a reasonably prudent medical provider would or would not have done under
the same or similar circumstances. Persons who offer medical advice and treatment implicitly state
that they have the skill to decide whether to take a case, to decide the treatment, and to administer
that treatment. This is know as implied undertaking ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Medical mistakes in the diagnosis and treatment of hospital patients are unfortunately among the
most common cases of hospital malpractice seen by malpractice lawyers. Misdiagnosis of the patient
s condition, improperly interpreted diagnostic tests, negligently performed surgeries and medication
errors are all examples of medical negligence and can all have devastating effects on patients already
admitted to a hospital with an illness or injury. This can be considered hospital malpractice.
Understaffing of hospitals and overworking of hospital employees contributes to the dangers of a
hospital visit. Long delays in emergency rooms, as well as waiting for radiology tests and delays in
performing surgery can all permit a patient s condition to worsen. In addition, patients frequently
arrive at the hospital with one type of illness, and sustain an injury or infection in the hospital that
they never had before. Often these patients are in much worse physical condition leaving the hospital
than when they went in. Sometimes patients injured by a hospital in the case of medical negligence
require extensive treatments or multiple surgeries to
My Identity In The Gaza Strip
I am an American Jew born 12 years after the end of WWII. Hebrew school, which I started
attending at age 5 until 11, created a sense of difference and specialty between myself and other
non Jews. Arabs, Palestinians and all anti Semites were the enemy of the Jewish world community
and were to be despised. Consequently, 75 percent of my identity was held in place by my
membership to the Jewish world community. Consequently, I lived the next twenty years as a
Defensive American Zionist Jew. I didn t question Israelfor its military actions, for occupying other

Israel was only defending itself from terrorist factions that called for the genocide of the Jewish

English 1101 Reflection
Over the course of the English 1101 course I have learned how I am as a writer including my
struggles and strong suits. The four papers written each brought new difficulties and learning
experiences. I had a difficult time in this class because I ve always been a technical writer that pays
little attention to sensory details and strong verbs. The narrative, compare and contrast, process
analysis, and position papers taught me skills and shows me what I need to work on to become a
better writer. First, the narrative paperwas one of the easiest to write on because it was a personal
story that had happened only a week in advance to being assigned the paper. Once the essay was

Introduction
A Marketing Strategy takes an important role in operating a successful business. It is basically the
outline in which a company will manage the 4 Ps of the Marketing Mix. These include Product,
Place, Promotion and Pricing. McDonalds is a great example of a business that has reached
customers globally by implementing a successful marketing strategy.
McDonald s Main Line of Business
McDonald s is one of the most well known fast food restaurants worldwide. The brand was first
established in 1940 by Richard and Maurice McDonald in San Bernardino, California, and was
originally called McDonald s Hamburger offering burgers, fries and drinks with quality and quick
service. In 1955 Ray Kroc founded McDonald s System Inc. and then later bought all rights to the
McDonald s brand. Since then he has brought it up to be a very successful, global business.
Countries in which the McDonalds Operates
McDonald s is currently operating in over 100 countries with over 30,000 restaurants. The first
countries outside of the US to have a McDonalds was Canada and Puerto
The Country Just Over The Fence By Paul Theroux
The Country Just over the Fence

In his essay The Country Just over the Fence, Paul Theroux describes his trip to Nogales, Mexico.
He begins his essay by illustrating the physical appearance of the wall separating Nogales, Arizona
and Nogales, Mexico. He calls it an unintentional masterpiece . Theroux feels the wall is somewhat
informal. He discovers that crossing the border into Mexico is not too difficult itself. He marvels
over the appearance of the wall and also the underlying call to action it places on a person, Do you
go through, or stay home? Theroux decided he needed to see for himself. After deciding to cross
the border, he met many different people. They told him about the celebrations that used to be held
between the two neighboring towns which are now divided by the wall. Theroux also met people
who had attempted to cross the border illegally into America only to get sent back to Mexico. On his
adventure, Theroux also learned about all the medical tourists who travel to the country for cheaper
treatments, specifically dentistry. I am interested in discussing Theroux s presentation of the his
decision to cross the border, the people he met, and the medical tourism Nogales, Mexico draws in.
At the beginning of his essay, Theroux is at the crossing point between Nogales, Arizona and
Nogales, Mexico. He tells of a soldier guarding the entrance who gave a slightly defensive answer
when our author asked why he hasn t visited Nogales, Mexico himself when it s
