Software Engineering
GIOADA I have many goals in mind for my life. I want to graduate university, possibly go to
graduate school, and obtain a career in which I am happy and satisfied. Yes, I know this sounds very
cliché as many people want to obtain this kind of life. I don t mind obtaining a normal happy life as
long as I am happy with it. I am familiar with Maslow s Hierarchy of Needs and I want to make sure
I fulfill my lower needs before I start trying to achieve my goals. I have never actually applied the
GIOADA process to my decision making in the past. After reading the document that describes the
GIOADA process, I will start applying this process to future decisions I make in life. Also, as I look
back at some of the big decisions I made... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is easier to get into Harvard than to become an FSO. Graduate school, especially public service
graduate schools, is encouraged for those wishing to become an FSO. I would choose to become
a software engineer if I wanted to have an easier time getting a job out of university and a higher
starting income. It is relatively easy to become a software engineer, provided one can finish all
the university work and graduate. The most difficult step of the GIOADA process is selecting a
final decision. This decision should and will be made later, however. Right now I am taking
computer science and economics classes to determine which subject I enjoy and am most
successful at. I can switch majors up until junior year. For this decision, the input of others is
very important. By others, the important of them would be my parents. My parents will give
their input on my career choices and guide me towards a choice that will benefit me the most in
the future and that I will be most successful with. My parents opinions would definitely not fall in
groupthink. They will not just go with the flow but will give their expert opinions. Once a
decision has been made, action takes place. I will work hard in the classes of whatever major I
choose. This will eventually give me in edge in getting a job and will prepare me for the hard work
of the future. Only my actions can truly cause the action stage, and I am willing to work for the
Smoke Complaint Response Paper
Tier 1 Volunteer Staff

Project title: Smoke Complaint Response

Lead Agency: Kittitas County Public Health Department
Partner Agencies: Local Fire Departments
Goal: Reduce the number of households with high opacity smoke emissions and improve burning
related behaviors in response to complaints.
Description: When KCPHD receives a complaint about wood smoke, letters are sent to the entire
neighborhood. This provides an educational opportunity to advertise the benefits of certified
woodstoves, establish clean burning practices and distribute relevant information to wood burning
hotspots.
Project Methods:
1.Complaints received by phone or email at KCPHD are logged into an internal complaint tracking
system, CAMAS, by the complaint recipient.
2.Complainants are asked whether they wish to remain anonymous and contact information for the
complainant is recorded if appropriate. The name ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The specialist consults a county parcel map and establishes a target area for response that
encompasses the most houses in the immediate vicinity of the complainant.
5.Letters are sent to all residences in the specified area with clean burning information and
suggestions to limit smoke emissions along with information about available wood stove change out
programs.
6.Local fire department staff may become involved in the cases of repeat offenders and are able to
issue fines for egregious outdoor and indoor burning violations.
7.Once a complaint has been closed, the closing date is recorded. A complaint is closed when the
appropriate level of compliance has been achieved or the complaint has been passed on to the
appropriate county or city code enforcement personnel. Currently the air quality program at the
Kittitas County Public Health Department does not have regulatory authority to impose fines
without working through city or county code enforcement. If the issue escalates, Washington State
Department of Ecology is made aware of the situation through their AQ
Minor Squabbles
Huber states that creative problem solving is the most effective mode of conflict management (2014,
p. 175). Initially, the nurse manager should allow all parties involved an opportunity to explain their
position. This projects an authentic interest and commitment to fairness on the part of the manager,
as the manager attempts to reframe the conflict into a productive outcome.
Not all conflict needs to be addressed. Small, minor squabbles can sometimes be left to extinguish on
their own, this is using the avoiding technique. However, minor squabbles that draw the attention
and added investment of others may fan the flames of conflict and require an intervention by the
nurse manager. Accommodation is another technique used in conflict management.
A CASE ANALYSIS ON NORTH SOUTH AIRLINES
A CASE ANALYSIS ON NORTH SOUTH AIRLINE
I. CASE BACKGROUND
Northern Airlines merged with Southeast Airlines to create the fourth largest U.S. carrier in which it
inherited both an aging fleet of Boeing 727 300 aircraft and Stephen Ruth.
As the new president of the airline, Stephen s first concern is to create a financially solid company
since it is a common presumption for airline industries that maintenance costs rise with the age of
aircrafts.
He noticed that there have been significant differences in the reported B727 300 maintenance costs
(from ATA Form 41s) both in the airframe and engine areas between Northern and Southeast Airlines,
with Southeast having the newer fleet. He asked Peg Jones, Vice President for Operations and
Finance ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Through the regression equation, we can say that per average age hour (thousands), there will be 2.6
increases in the airframe cost.
b. Then, we also determine the regression equation and correlation between North s engine cost and
the average age of fleet. Please refer to Annex 3 for the QM results.
Regression line:
Engine Cost = 20.57 +.0026* Average Age (hour)
Coefficient of correlation = .78
Coefficient of determination = .61
For the engine cost, there is also a positive correlation thus; increase in this cost may also vary in
the increase in average age of fleet per hour. However, on this cost, only 61% is determined in the
regression equation. Like in the airframe cost, there will be additional 2.6 in cost for every hour of
average age in thousands.
c. We determine the regression equation and correlation between South s engine cost and the
average age of fleet. Please refer to Annex 4 for the QM results.
Regression line:
Airframe Cost = 4.60 +.0032* Average Age (hour)
Coefficient of correlation = .62
Coefficient of determination = .39For South Airlines aircraft cost, there is also a positive
correlation which means that as average age increases, airframe cost may also increase. But in
terms of coefficient of determination, we can notice that only 39% of the airframe cost can be
determined in the regression line based on the average age per hour. Through the regression
equation, we can say that for every increase in average age hour
Microsoft Econmic Down Turn 2009
Microsoft cuts jobs as profits fall

US software giant Microsoft is to cut up to 5,000 jobs over the next 18 months including 1,400
immediately due to a slowing economy and weak spending on technology.
Microsoft employs 1,200 people at Sandyford in Dublin, but a spokesperson said the cuts would
have only a very minor impact in Ireland. It is believed fewer than 20 jobs will go.
Microsoft said net profit fell by 11% in the second quarter of its financial year compared with a year
earlier to $4.17 billion. Revenue was $16.63 billion, 2% more than the same period a year ago.
The world s biggest software firm said that in light of the further deterioration of global economic

and increase efficiencies, today Microsoft is commencing consultation to remove additional
positions across several areas of the company. A number of UK positions are affected, representing
about 5% of the 2,880 people currently based in the UK.
We are working closely with affected employees to help them through this difficult transition. While
job reductions are always difficult, we need to rebalance resources against our priorities in the
current climate, and we will continue to evaluate our business to ensure that our investments are

The Company Of Wolves Characters
In Angela Carter s short story The Company of Wolves , the protagonist, a young girl who just
started her period, and still a virgin was unlike other children. Other children of the area who were
forced to grow quickly, this child has been kept young because she is her family s beautiful and
youngest child. Because she is the youngest and most beautiful child, her family spoiled her and
sheltered her from life s harsh realities. By doing this they have cultured her, made her into the
gender ideal of a sheltered, sweet, and trusting girl. The girl s virtuousness both endangers her and
saves her; she is trusting enough to believe in the hunter s good intentions, but sympathetic enough
to understand his torment and be with him.
Even though ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When the girl strips naked and approaches the wolf, it at first seems that she is sacrificing herself
to him. Then, when the wolf says he will eat her, she laughs because she (knows) that she (is)
nobody s meat, (Carter, 118). By acting upon her sexual desires, the girl doesn t offer herself as
meat or food but as flesh and a human being. When someone is having sex the person s body is
not seen as being his or her own but it belongs to the other person who has the honor of this action.
The girl claims her sexual desire and her flesh as her own, she can give her immaculate flesh
willfully to the werewolf and also take him. Carter even said that the girl eats the werewolf. She
will lay his fearful head on her lap and she will pick out the lice from his pelt and perhaps she will
put the lice into her mouth and eat them, (Carter, 118).
When the girl burns her cape, she rejects her virginity and her naïvetés in favor of her sexual
insight. She also rejects her townsperson identity of uncompromising advantage to creatures. The
townspeople burn werewolves clothes in order to condemn them to wolfishness, and so the girl
burns her own clothes in order to become one with the werewolf and his kind.
The girl undresses in order to relate the creature in herself, her sexual desire, and to the actual
creature to whom she engaged. She takes the lead to be reborn as self owning sexual being. Carter
goes far as to compare a werewolf s

Research Paper On Milton Friedman
Introduction
Many people want consumer protection by the government. A much more urgent problem is to
protect the consumer from the government, is a familiar quote to any economist that was stated by
Milton Friedman. He was one of the most significant personalities in the resuscitation of classical
economics in the last half of the 21st century. Various awards such as the Nobel Prize for
Economic Sciences and the Presidential Medal of Freedom bagged by Friedman in 1976 and 1988
respectively are a clear indication of his great contribution to modern economics.
Milton Friedman is considered to have played several roles in the intellectual life of the 20th
century. He was a policy enterpriser, who spent decades pushing for the policy known ... Show more

In 1958, economist A.W. Philips stated that unemployment and inflation had a correlation from the
past in that low inflation was associated with high unemployment and vice versa. Friedman
contradicted this view in a presidential address to the American Economic Association by saying
that even though the correlation was visible in the data, it did not represent a true trade off
especially in the long run. He argued that there is always a temporary trade off between inflation and
unemployment but never a permanent trade off. Only temporary success would be achieved through
a policy to generate higher inflation to curb unemployment as it would finally pick again, even as
inflation stayed high.
The 1960s saw Friedman author a book titled Capitalism and Freedom, where he advocated for
freely floating exchange rates, education vouchers, and abolition of licensing doctors, a negative
income tax, and a volunteer army among other things. The book created a cause for relatively free
markets to a larger audience that encouraged the younger generation to take economics
The Contributions Of Frederick Douglass By Frederick Douglas
While being educated and defending himself against Mr. Covey were important events in
Douglass life, the most important turning point was the day he was able to earn money from
work. Being able to earn money reminded him about his plan to attain freedom, made him an
important asset to his master, and made freedom a more attainable feat with his ability to hire his
time. Earning money allows Douglass to remember the goal he had almost forgotten, freedom.
Since Frederick Douglass becomes a such a skilled calker he is able to, command the highest
wages given to the most experienced calkers, and he was, now of some importance to [his]
master. (92) Since Douglass is giving all his wages to his master, Mr. Hugh, he is allowed to be
free during his leisure time. During this time he is reminded of his desire to be free. During these
leisure times, these old notions of slavery would steal over me again (92) Douglass says again
because while in the employment of Mr. Gardener, he only had time to think about his life and
how to protect it. Having more tasks to do than time to do it, he was continuously working, and at
times, retaliating against his white overseers. Now that he is living relatively comfortably, it
heightens his yearning to be a free man, ...whenever my condition improved...it only increased my
desire to be free... If Mr. Hugh had worked Douglass as hard as his previous masters, Douglass
would not have been able to think about his plans for freedom because he

sleep disorders but the most common ones people know about are Insomnia, Sleep apnea, night

A person is supposed to moving through the different REM stages throughout the night and so their
breathing changes or stop to adjust to new stage, with sleep apnea they stop breathing for longer
period than necessary. After time affects them in a negative way and takes a toll on their body.

The third sleep disorder, Night terrors are deep episodes that seem to produce terror, although any
terrifying mental experience (such as a dream) is usually forgotten on awakening (pg. 343). Night
terrors are uncommon, and only affect a small percentage of children between the ages of four
and twelve. This percentage is even smaller for adults. Most children grow out of night terrors by
the time they are adolescents to adults. But it still brings up concern because with night terrors
comes the behaviors like walking in your sleep, punching, kicking and choking someone you love.
Once woken, the sleepers will have no recollection of what they were scared about. Occasionally
some adults may be able to remember bits and pieces of their terror. Most night terrors come about if
a person had something tragic happen to them sometime throughout their life. For instance if a child
was beaten repetitively or sexually assaulted, they are more prone to night terrors.

The last common sleep disorder is, Narcolepsy which is a disorder of REM sleep, involving sleep

Case Study On Fabindia
1.Can fabindia continue to grow? What problems are anticipated?
Ans: Fabindia has many strength and opportunities to compete and grow in the retail sector, so I can
say that fabindia can continue to grow. Fabindia was founded in 1960 with a mission to provide
work and employment to india s skilled rural artisans and to protect traditional weaving and printing
skills. Another point is change in customer consumption pattern increase income per capita has given
boost to domestic sale of fabindia. In last five year turnover of fabindia has increased by 335% profit

increase same store sales that would be generated by introduction of a premium series of product.
They also wished to expand their offering of organic product to fresh produce dairy, as well as
backed goods, and to open separate organic product stores.

Transcendentalism, By Ralph Waldo Emerson
Re striking the Balance
In a constantly updating world, eventually cultural diffusion causes changes to a society s views and
practices over a period of time. With many religious pressures in Europe and the constant switch
between Catholicism and Protestantism, a group called the Puritans moved to America to start life
anew. The Puritan lifestyle took hold of America s New England colonies and became a theocracy of
how people lived their lives. People lived by the Puritan interpretation of the New Testament with
harsh forms of punishment for the violation of even the most simple sins. Because of this restricting
lifestyle and new ideas like the Enlightenment which caused intellectual reforms, people started to
break away from the extreme Puritan philosophy. Another movement occurring in America called
Transcendentalism, on the other side of the spectrum of Puritanism, started with writer Ralph Waldo
Emerson, specifically with his essay Nature . Emerson depicts the prime example of the breaking
away from strict religion to Transcendentalism. In America, Emerson was a priest who had been
ridiculed and had traveled to Europe to find himself. After meeting up with writers of the
Romanticism movement, he fell in love with it and brought it back to America under the name of
Transcendentalism. Puritanism and Transcendentalism have opposing philosophies which include
their view on people, philosophy and God , and on nature through essays and texts by: William
Bradford, Anne
