Feminist Theory And Feminist Theory
A common theme has emerged from the past readings. Feminist theory and intersectionality. I
have taken some Women s studies courses before so I am familiar with feminist theory.
Intersectionality is trickier for me as I am a white, female, privilege Canadian woman who has not
faced any oppressions for what I look like. The only oppressions I face are for being a womanand
there is no intersectionality with having only one oppression. I will explore both feminist theory and
intersectionality and finish off with battered women s syndrome in this paper as well as talk about
my own personal experiences and how they relate to the course.

All skills and experiences are learned, no matter what biological factors there are.

The next topic of intersectionality is one I am less familiar with. I don t experience a lot of
intersectionality other then I am a female that suffers from a mental illness. I also don t have a
nuclear family; but none of these come close to the issues suffered by women of color, or women
of a different sexual identity. Intersectionality is important in social work because we have such a
diverse demographic of people (disabled, vulnerable, children, etc.) that it s important to
remember how oppressions work in conjunctions and become individualistic personalities. It s
also important for social work as you should be trying to combat these oppressions where you
can, The colonial devaluing of aboriginal people is manifested in child welfare practices where

Florida Highway Patrol Sgt. Mark Wysocky says it is hard to separate texting drivers from
drunken drivers as he cruises down a suburban interstate highway. Both weave. They speed up and
slow down for no obvious reason and get too close to other cars. They endanger their lives and others.

``There s one, he says, as a woman zips past. But even though he could see her texting, he couldn t
ticket her Florida statutes wouldn t allow it because she wasn t breaking any other traffic laws.

Florida, with some of the nation s deadliest roads, is one of the last states to not fully ban texting
while driving, but the Legislature will soon consider a bill that would. However, studies conflict
over whether such bans have any effect.

Currently, Florida law says texting by noncommercial drivers is a secondary offense law
enforcement officers must see another violation like speeding or an illegal lane change before
they cite a driver for texting. The bill would make texting a primary offense. The fine for a first
offense would remain $30 plus court costs and add no points to the driver s record. Previous
attempts have failed, but this bill has support from legislative leaders.

Forty three states already make texting while driving a primary offense. Three besides Florida list it
as a secondary offense Nebraska, Ohio and South Dakota. There is no state law against texting in

The Importance Of My College Life
Predating my college life, I held a strong desire to understand complex mathematical concepts. I
would spend countless hours trying to get ahead of class, to satisfy my curiosity on what awaited
me in future lessons. At home, I studied and did my homework by myself, as everyone was always
busy. It was because of this, that my progress in learningwas somewhat limited to grade specific

This idea is completely wrong and incorrect. All of the research that was put behind this idea was
flawed because the research did not study the long term effects of violent video games and their
effects on making the player violent. Instead, these studies found that playing violent video games

Women s Rights In The 1800s
In the time era of 1800s, women were inferior to males. They were not taken seriously and not
allowed by society to do male jobs. Many women decided to change this through events like the
Seneca Falls Convention. The growth of the women s right movement included the progress of
education, marriage laws, and professions for women. Through movements, women were given
opportunities that they weren t originally able to get. It all started with Lucretia Mott, a Quaker
activist, who gave lectures about temperance, peace, worker s rights and abolition. Mott also helped
runaway slaves and organized the Philadelphia Female Anti Slavery Society. Lucretia attended the
world anti slavery convention, there she met Elizabeth Cady Stanton, another female abolitionist.

As outline by the Webster dictionary civil liberty is the fundamental individual right protected by
law and expressed as immunity from unwarranted governmental interference. Civil rights on the
other hand per Webster is the right or rights belonging to a person by reason of citizenship especially
including the fundamental freedoms and privileges guaranteed by the thirteenth and fourteenth
amendment and subsequent acts of Congress including the right to legal, social, and economic
equality. 1 Similar in meaning both civil rights and civil liberties are slightly different as well. I
will first explain the similarities and differences between the two. After explaining this I will give
examples of two court cases that represent both a civil right and civil liberty situation.
To start, civil rights and civil liberties are both basic rights that you have being a United States
citizen. Both protect you legally by law from unequal treatment.
In contrast, they are both different because civil rights are characteristics that allow you to be free of
unequal treatment. These rights include sexual orientation, gender, race, religious preference, and
disabilities. 2 However, civil liberties are rights that are guaranteed by law either in the Bill of

This demonstrates that what humans created, the robots, can also be outlived by it. Towards the
end of the story, a cigar popped out, half an inch of soft gray ash on it, smoking, waiting , was
