Bram Stoker s Influence On Dracula
In 1897, Bram Stoker took a risk in writing Dracula and become one of the most acclaimed and
well known authors in history. Stoker s leap of faith help to lead to a whole new genre. Dracula
was one of the first horror stories to ever be published. Another way that Stoker chose to be unique
is the way that he wrote the stories in first person journal entries which help the reader to better
understand each character and their personal feelings. Bram Stoker will always be remembered
because he is the creator of Draculaand Vampirism. The influence that Stoker was able to make
through Dracula is phenomenal and will live on until the end of time. Today, everywhere we look
we see a little bit of Dracula, from movies to tv series, to books and blogs. The list never ends with
vampireand werewolf themes.
There are three major facts about Dracula that we do not know. For starters, the first transcript of
Dracula was originally five hundred and forty one pages ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hotel Transylvania I and Hotel Transylvania II are great examples of how vampires have been
brought into children s fads as well teen and adult. There are also others such as Vampire Dog and
My Mom s Got a Date with a Vampire with many others. These cartoon movies are funny and very
enjoyable for children as well as adults and teens as well. Not only in movies, but Dracula appears
in other shows such as Batman, Scooby Doo, and Adventure Time. There are also many Halloween
specials in which Dracula or vampires appear, whether it be on Disney channel, Cartoon Network,
Nickelodeon, or another
Baseball Case Study
The next study was in 2015 and was a total of 30 baseball players. The players returned to their
previous level of competition with an 82% rate. That study also showed a great number of players
came back with great speed as well, just over 12 months (O Brien 2015). Another study was over
137 MLB pitchers. The study focused on whether the pitchercould return and maintain the same
workload as before. The study concluded that the pitchers that have come back and are fully healed
do not need a lesser work load to continue to be healthy (Keller 2017). The next study that was
concerned with how a pitcher returned to the game was analyzed from numerous different pitchers
from 2008 2013. The study focused on if the pitcher changed his pitch... Show more content on

However, sometimes players will find complications with their elbow after they get back to
playing the game. When this happens, a good option is getting revision UCL reconstruction. A
2015 study of 271 pitchers of various more pitchers get a revision procedure than what people
realize. Of the 271 pitchers included in the study, 40 (15%) required at least 1 revision procedure
during their playing career. Three cases required a second UCL revision reconstruction. The average
time from primary surgery to revision was 5.2 years (range, 1 13 years). The average length of
career following primary reconstruction for all players was 4.9 years (range 0 22 years) (Wilson
2015). While no one would prefer to need a revision surgery, the success after the revision surgery
can be good. One study concluded that MLB pitchers who require revision UCL reconstruction
after returning to play following primary UCL reconstruction pitch at or above their pre primary
UCL reconstruction workload whereas control pitchers who did not require revision pitch
significantly less, below their pre primary UCL reconstruction (Keller 2017). So their study found
that if you have the revision procedure, you are likely to bounce back and pitch better than if you
have never needed the revision procedure. Even though pitchers tend to play better after returning
from their revision procedure, most
Siddhartha by Herman Hesse
Herman Hesse s novel Siddhartha is a spiritual book about a man who finds himself , during the time
when the teachings of Buddha started to evolve. Throughout this spiritual novel, there are many
recurring symbols, themes, and strong bonds between the characters.
2. Other than the ferryman Vasudeva helping Siddhartha, the river helps Siddhartha with his path
toward enlightenment. The river serves as the instructor in Siddhartha s journey when he abandons
his wealth and leaves the Samanas. The river is like life, it flows in a certain direction, depending
on the journey you want to take. The function of the river is that it will give one answers depending
on the direction it takes. Because of the philosophical meaning of the river, if one understands it,
they will achieve enlightenment. Vasudeva s philosophical belief is that one must listen to the river
for answers. The river provides one with knowledge without words. Siddhartha s reward for listening
to the river is that he will have a true understanding of reality. Event though Vasudeva told Siddhartha
to listen to the river by his philosophical belief, Siddhartha achieved the meaning of reality of on his
own. In reality , the river was the instruction because it shared it s knowledge with Siddhartha how to
achieve enlightenment, while the ferryman just pointed him in the right direction. In the end
Siddhartha becomes the ferryman, and Vasudeva retires. Hence now that Siddhartha has true
knowledge, he shares

Comparing the Emplementation and Scrutinizing of Proposed Bills in the House of Commons and
Congress
This essay will examine how two institutions, namely the House of Commons and Congress, which
are supposed to serve the same process, differ widely in the way they implement and scrutinise
proposed bills. The essay will examine the relationship between the legislature and the executive; the
importance of the party; and the constitutional arrangements which give each legislature very
different characteristics.
The French philosopher Montesquieu said that there could be no democracy unless the three
branches of government, legislature, judiciary and executive, were separate bodies, which acted as ...

A $1.7 trillion annual budget and congressional decentralization through the committee system
allows lawmakers to specialize and make decisions on a wide range of complex topics. This is very
different to the House of Commons (HoC), which has a much smaller budget and a less rigorous
committee system. The rigorous nature of the Congressional committee system (CCS) could be seen
as advantageous since it allows detailed legislation on potentially complex topics to be written.
However, the composition of the committee may not be unbiased, and once the legislation has been
drafted it must be ratified by the rest of Congress.
Since the CCS is so important to the USlegislative process the membership of the committees
requires careful consideration. The composition, range of interests, and the scope of their policies
are determined by the members. If a committee were full of like minded people that were not
socially representative of the people the policies concern, then it is feasible for the democratic
process to be undermined. Furthermore, the quality of the resulting bill is highly dependent on the
ability of the committee members. To counter these potentially negative influences the bill must be
ratified by Congress once it leaves the Committee phase.
Canada has had a lot of famous people that have impacted the world and Canada greatly, one of
them is Tommy Douglas. Tommy Douglas was a big part of Canadian history. For one, he was a
big part of things like government run auto insurance, minimum wage, paid vacations and a forty
hour work week. He also helped with family allowance and unemployment insurance. Furthermore,
he introduced Medicare which is still in effect today and Canadians all over can be safe knowing
that if they get injured or sick it is all paid for because of Tommy Douglas. This is just one reason
that Canada is a country ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Sbc Family Risk Assessment Paper
We constructed 10 year risk assessment charts of CVD incidence using important risk factors. Such
a user friendly chart included SBP, WHR, diabetes, smoking status, CVD family history and TC.
SBP was grouped into four classes: (1) 120, (2) 120 139, (3) 140 159, and (4) ≥160 mmHg. These
cutoff points were based on National Cholesterol Education Program s Adult Treatment Panel III
(ATP III). TC was categorized into five groups: (1) 150, (2) 150 200, (3) 200 250, (4) 250 300 and
(5) ≥300 mg/dL. High waist to hip ratio (WHR) was defined as WHR ≥ 0.80 and 0.95 in women
and men, respectively. When FBS ≥126 mg/dL or the 2h post load plasma glucose ≥200 mg/dL or
the patient was receiving anti diabetic agents, subjects were diagnosed with diabetes mellitus. The
smoking variable comprised current smokers.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Beyond Katrina Poem Analysis
It is pretty poignant, yet honest to say that the hurricane Katrina has long derived an almost
obsessional attention from Natasha writer. In Beyond Katrina: A meditation of the Mississippi Gulf
Coast , Tretheway has purposely pictured the devastation scenario from witnesses narratives; hence
her story could speak for many stories of people who are less visible, whom we cannot see struggling
against the aftermath the stories we may not know about how tenacious the return of Gulf Coast
communities was from those tremendous sufferings they miserably faced up to. From a personal,
yet natural perspective, Tretheway chose to form the portrait of the Gulfport district over the years
by mixing poets, prose, handwritten letters and a few childhood photographs. Without a doubt,
poems, coupe with prose, have successfully flesh out this tragic anecdote, though requiring
individual interpretations and a deep understanding of the author s perception. In this sense, my own
analysis allows me to pick three poems, which altogether hold an ultimately general theme: the
powerful return of Gulf Coast society through memorization, reflection and above all, recovery. It is
pretty strange when Tretheway has not been ridden out the storm at that time, yet her ability to
extend that empathy to the local residents is undeniable. Thetheway refacts all the deaths and bodies
washed away (65) through the lens of witnesses her family and the whole community with emotional
depth and

others. According to demographers, the older population within Wyandotte County will double in the
next 30 years. This population is expected to experience challenges regarding access to healthcare
and is expected to highly rely on Medicare (McGovern, Lambert Harris, Gotham, Claus Xie,
2014). The level of poverty rose from 12.5 percent to 16.5 percent from year 2000 to year 2012.
This means that growth in poverty was experienced in the last decade (with 75% growth levels
experienced to the population below 100% FPL, 52 percent to those below 200% FPL). Wyandotte
County registered 669 deaths. The main cause of these deaths was heart disease, cancer, stroke,
accidents, unintentional injuries and Diabetes Mellitus (Cook, Nelson Lillis, 2013). The county
unemployment rate decrease from 10 percent to 8.5 percent in 2011. In the year 2009, teen
pregnancy varied from 19.8 teen births to a higher value of 84.6 teen births i.e. per 1000 female

Risk And Uncertainty Of The Oil And Gas Industry
RISK AND UNCERTAINTY Introduction: There is almost nothing in this world where there is
no risk involved. Risk involved is a major topic of concern in everyday life more than ever before.
This report gives an overview about the risks involved in everyday life and especially in the oil
and gas industry. Discussion: Risk can be defined as The possibility of a (negative) event
occurring . Risk and uncertainty go hand in hand. When you are certain about something that
you do then there is less or no risk involved. There is more risk when there is uncertainty about a
particular outcome and you still go for it. Risk in Oil and Gas Industry: Health, safety and
environmental risks are major concern in the oil and gas industry. The workers engaged in the
direct work process are prone to accidental risks such as cuts, bruises, chemical burns, fractures,
etc. Respiratory ailments are also caused due to the large amount of gases mainly hydrocarbons.
While working on the rigs there is a risk of becoming deaf due to the loud noise and vibrations of
the machinery present on the rig. There are also safety concerns like the height at which the rigs
operate above sea level. There are always cranes carrying heavy containers which might fall from
a height causing serious injury to personnel. There is a high risk of slips, trips and falls as the
workers work at a height and the surface they work on is uneven. The workers in the oil and gas
industry have to work in a confined space such as

In any community, as in everyday life, many challenging issues can arise. In intercultural
communities a large portion of these challenging issues are in some way, related to two forms of
racism. Our book notes that racism could be self imposed due to low feelings of self worth or a
feeling of helplessness. This is called internalized racism(Oetzel, p.293). The second type,
institutionalized racism, stems from the in group. When a majority feels superior or uses acts
rejection towards the minority the racist remarks are considered institutionalized. Often both forms
of racism occur in the community. Unfortunately, several social and cultural factors reinforce these
negative treatments of other and several actions must be taken to address... Show more content on

I know today that my mom was raised with a racist perspective or perhaps even a white
supremacist attitude as was the rest of her family. The feeling of disgust and contempt for this
seemingly nice man is an example of institutionalized racism. It wasn t my mom s fault that she
grew up in a world where you used this language and you thought of others as less clean and
inferior. The government even did this; segregated were the public schools and other public
facilities. Today there are less obvious but existing signs of this very same idea. Ironically, my mom
now has four adopted children. These children have dark skin and are labeled as African American
by the agency that facilitated the adoption process. These children are three, ten, thirteen, and fifteen
years old. Once, I went with my mom to the doctors. She was filling out some paperwork on the
children before they could be seen. My mother got down to the section that said race. She then
checked the box Black/African American . The ten year old girl looked up and said, I m not
black! My mom looked at her forcing back a laugh since she is the darkest skinned out of her
three siblings. Well, what race are you? mom replied. The young girl said every race imaginable
besides the correct race, which was the checked box above. These children had been taken out of
their home because of the illegal activities of the biological mother. These children were often
involved in these
Intercultural Communication And Interpersonal Communication
Intercultural communication is defined as when people communicate with one another who have
different cultures. They may differ because of their languages, beliefs, values, and behavioral
characteristics (Bennett, 1998). The intercultural communication plays a key role in globalization. It
will help organizations to have a long term success if they can manage the cultural differences and
intercultural cooperation effectively to conflicts. Increasing shared knowledge and dealing with
miscommunication are the two main factors for having a successful intercultural communication.
However, the difference in discourse systems is the most miscommunication issue that leads
individuals to misunderstand and misinterpret to the contents or messages... Show more content on

These people need to be willing to realize the signifiers such as sounds, gestures, tones, and so on.
This level also includes the basic concept of cultural diversities such as bias, ethnocentricity, and
stereotype. The second level is organizing information according to stereotypes. This level is about
to accept the stereotypical characteristics of new cultures. The new cultures that they face will bring
them to get used to it. However, it can cause a stereotype to happen in the culture. One culture might
think that all people are same in that culture. For instance, when Arabs are speaking, they like to stay
close to another person. This will make another believes that all Arabs act like that. It is much more
difficult if the stereotypes happen in the intercultural communication. This level has a high
possibility for some people to fail at this level. The next level is to pose questions to challenge the
stereotypes. They can solve the stereotypes problems by asking specific questions about other
cultures. The questions need to relate to attitudes because they can increase their knowledge about
other cultures. For example, they can ask how the relationship can be settled. The fourth level of
intercultural communication competence learning is analyzing communication episodes. After they
understand more about other cultures, they are able to analyze the way to behave and communicate
to others. They have more
The April Fool s Mistake
I do not think that Eugene TV stations overreacted about the April fool s joke. When you are
putting something out into the media that involves being dishonest, you have to be very careful
about the way that you go about it. This whole joke was not thought out well enough and the
timing was way off. When the TV stations called to ask if it was true, the Emerald s director of
media relations should have just fessed up to the joke and told the truth. This poorly planned joke
would have just been written off and nobody would have cared about it. Although, she decided
against that and thought lying would get them more publicity which in the end got them bad
publicity. Lying to the media is the world move as a public relationsrepresentative. This then takes

I would of much rather this thoughtless plan just disappears then it became a public relations
nightmare. There is plenty of time for the Emerald s to think of new public relations campaign
that can raise their business. If I were her I would have also timed my joke a little better so that if
it became a disaster, I would have time to fix my mistakes before it showed up in the morning
news on local television. Also, I would advise against responding that she did not anticipate
getting those phone calls. I am not really sure what she was expecting for after releasing that sort
of news. The TV reporters were a little nicer with their comments than I would have been if
someone lied to me. If I was her, I would come out with an apology and explain myself to the full
extent and say that I understood that I lost my credibility but I would work tirelessly to gain back
their respect. Instead, she tried to brush it under the table as if it was not a very big
