George Washington Crossing The Delawaon Analysis
1776, the Founding Fathers took a leap of faith, challenging the King and his far superior military
forces, boasting only a ragtag army of farmers and patriots. Over 200 years, two World Wars, and a
bloody Civil War later, America sits atop the hierarchy of world powers. Despite being endlessly
doubted, questioned, and seen as an improbable idea , the the United Stateshas been able to
overcome all odds and take a prominent position in the world because of an unyielding bold
determination held by Americans, embodied by the exaggerated details in George Washington
Crossing the Delaware, the observations in the essay A Quilt of a Country: Out of Many One, and
the pathos appeal in Lincoln s Second Inaugural Address.
This fortitude can be better understood after looking at the painting: George Washington Crossing
the Delaware, which is perhaps the most iconic artwork in American history. The illustration is an
exaggerated portrayal of Washington leading his army across the freezing Delaware River to
surprise the British. It immortalizes one of the most important events in this country s history, as it
served as a turning point in Revolution. Painter Emanuel Gottlieb Leutze depicts Washington
standing tall at the bow of the ship, knee propped up, head held high, eyes locked into focus looking
ahead, sword at hip, sheathed but ready to be drawn at any moment. Of course, some of this is not a
true account, but it was intended to illustrate the gallant dedication of Washington and

Clothing And Make-Up In Edward Scissorhands
Edward Scissorhands, directed by Tim Burton is a story about a monster (or outsider) who enters
into the so called peaceful neighbourhood and disturbs the calm. the message of isolation and
alienation is shown through the colour, costume/makeup and setting that are used through the film.
The costume and make up in Edward Scissorhands is used generate feeling and emotions in the
audience. There are major differences in what Edward wears and looks like and what the humans
wear and look like. The costumes guide the audience in to thinking what kind of characters the
people are and will turn out to be like. The town s people are dressed in a typical 1950 s style.
This makes them look very simplistic in their ways, on the outside. The women s clothes are very
bright and overly colourful. The colours used generate the view that the townspeople are all very
normal, and everything appears to be alright on the outside. The make up on the women accents
and highlights their look. The houses are also very bright and false looking, almost like doll
houses. Edward, in contrast, is dressed in dark clothes. The make up used on him makes his skin
look very pale, very ghostly and pasty. His clothes are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first time colour is used is when the grandma is telling the story of Edward Scissorhands to
the little girl in the oversized bed. Visually, this scene is reminiscent of fairy tales and is another
means used by Burton to indicate the purpose of his story. The two worlds are contrasted visually
by the use of colour, the kitsch pastel colours and uniform shapes of the suburban houses differing
completely from the black and white of the derelict castle. The suburban world is apparently perfect
with its cloudless blue sky, spotless houses, well kept gardens and stereotypical inhabitants who are
contrasted with the imperfection of the unfinished Edward

Influences on F. Scott Fitzgeralds writing in The Great...
The Roaring Twenties was a period of frivolous days and exciting nights. Times were prosperous
and life was good for most. In The Great Gatsby, published in 1925, F. Scott Fitzgerald writes
about the fictitious life of Jay Gatsby, a self made millionaire (Gross 1). The setting of the novel
is New York in the twenties, a time, and place, where people were jovial and carefree. In New
York, more than anywhere, people did not worry about life s downs, but focused on the highlife and
partying. Prohibition made partying difficult, but it prevailed nonetheless. In the novel, Fitzgerald s
description of humans was of an appalling nature. He shows them as careless, greedy, and
inconsiderate; much like they truly were in this decade. Inevitably he... Show more content on

Fitzgerald was a dreamer. He though everything would turn out fine, just as Gatsby had, but he was
wrong and had to recompense for it in the end.

The roaring twenties was a time of parties, and socializing. Times were prosperous and people just
wanted to enjoy themselves. Since the war was over, soldiers were back at home, working and
taking care of their families. There was a sense of rebellion in America at this time. The rich were
lazy and slapdash, which, in The Great Gatsby, was portrayed by their very shoddy driving abilities.
Times were excellent, for most, and people were beginning to just have a good time. Many people
were so rich they had no need to work, so they had to occupy themselves with other things.
Prohibition began in 1919 (Moss, Wilson 148). People did not like the idea though, so they
started revolting the law. Gangsters would get liquor and other kinds of alcohol to people who
wanted it, but for a price. In The Great Gatsby, Gatsby is involved in these illegal activities.
Gatsby always had alcohol at his parties. His wealth gave him things that normal people couldn t
have. He invited hundreds of guests to his parties, and most of them got extremely intoxicated
before the night was over. The female crowds at Gatsby s parties show how women really dressed
and acted in the twenties. Bobbed hair, short dresses, bright red lipstick, and long strands of pearls
with a knot tied in them were female fads of the elite citizens.
The Main Reasons For Kentucky Fried Chicken In China
There are several reasons why Kentucky Fried Chicken is successful in China. The first reason
for KFC s success in China is their growth strategy. KFC in China decided it s goal was for rapid
expansion and to develop in smaller cities rather than large ones. This business decision was done to
reduce costs. KFCwould be able to be the first in a new area and have a better choice of locations.
This also meant free publicity from the grand opening and would be receptive to mall owners.
Kentucky Fried Chicken was the first Western fast foodchain to arrive in China and a KFC location
is opening at a rate of about one a day. They are successful in this strategy, because they are
thinking outside the box. Most fast food chains are opening in large cities and competition is
everywhere. Opening in smaller areas reduces costs, gives customers a feel of something new and
exciting and has less competition.

Another reason for KFC s success in China is understanding the changing Chinese culture and the
different regional tastes. Chinese middle class are finding it hard to find time to prepare family
meals. The Chinese lifestyle is changing and western fast food is considered a healthier option to
Chinese fast food. The Chinese people want a change and are tired of Chinese food. Not only did
KFC develop a specific menu to address the different regional tastes but altered the facial features of
the iconic Colonel Sanders to look more Asian so the Chinese people could relate
Eleanor Roosevelt s Role Of Women
While I spoke there was complete silence. It was striking after the pandemonium that had
existed....on several occasions [Franklin] said to others, Her speech was just right (Roosevelt 217
218). The unprecedented amount of attention and respect given to the First Lady at the 1940
Democratic National Committee in Chicago while she gave her speech speaks numbers to the
colossal impact that Eleanor Roosevelthad on people (Roosevelt 216 218). No other First Lady
before Eleanor had taken as many steps as she did to improve the nation. She helped to pave the
way for future women, redefining feminism and aiding in the progress of improving the lives of
those in both the United States and abroad (First Lady Biography: Eleanor Roosevelt). Coming
from beginnings filled with public service, not only did Eleanor Roosevelt drastically change the
role of the First Lady, but she also modernized the role of women in society through all stages of
her life. Very early I became conscious of the fact that there were people around me who suffered in
one way or another (Roosevelt 12). Even from an early age, Eleanor surrounded herself with
opportunities to serve others. This early exposure to public service led her to continuously help
others around her. When her husband, Franklin Roosevelt was appointed Assistant Navy Secretary
in 1913 under the Wilson administration, Eleanor became actively involved with two organizations
in particular working to bring aid to those in need, the
Credit Derivatives in the Recent Global Financial Crisis
Credit Derivatives in the recent Global Financial Crisis 1.0 Introduction: In the recent times
credit derivatives have become a very popular financial security for investors. If we take a look at
the chart given below we can see how the popularity of credit derivatives increased in the past
decade. The maximum volume of derivatives was traded during the years 2005 to 2007 of which
2006 was the highest at $2000bn. Then when the financial crisis occurred at the end of 2007 the
trading decreased rapidly the following two years to as low as $100bn in 2009. There has been
claims from financial critics that these credit derivative are the main factor that has lead to the
almost collapse of the world financial markets and if corrective measures... Show more content on

3.0 Why control measures are necessary? From the simple description of what happened during
the financial crisis as mentioned above, it is clear that the use or rather the overuse of credit
derivatives was the major cause of the collapse of the financial market. The creatively designed
derivatives helped to hedge the risks off parties involved and eventually the party held accountable
for the risk would get lost in all the complexity of each tranche. In May 2010, the Financial Times
quoted Warren Buffett with the following: Derivatives are financial weapons of mass destruction,
carrying dangers that, while now latent, are potentially lethal to the financial system (Lemer, 2010).
This quote nicely reflects the fear of some market participants and observers that credit derivatives
may threaten the stability of the financial system. The transactions of credit derivatives are not
required to be disclosed by the market participants and this opaqueness in the system can easily lead
to yet another collapse in the financial markets. Furthermore, there is no common method of
documentation and thus control measures are only self regulatory (Ayadi Behr, 2009). Sometimes
government heavily subsidizes the derivative markets making it easier for anyone to get credit
derivatives cheaply. Almost one third of OTC market trades require no margin or collateral
requirements at all. Financial innovation has a bad reputation at the moment, because exotic
derivatives were one of

Kudler Fine Foods Accounting System

The purpose of this paper is to describe the value of a new accounting system for Kudler Fine
Foods. The author will cover the key features, core technology, benefits, and cost of the proposed
system.
In businesses today, it is imperative that the accounting system be tied into every aspect of a business
and integrated within all of the information systems in use. Therefore, before any system is updated
or changed, the accounting system must be considered and analyzed for compatibility and
integration. Kudler Fine Foods hired a consulting firm to assist in the selection and installation of a

If the transaction is small, the store manager can pay for it out of an impress fund that each store has.
The store manager would then fax the information to F amp; A to be manually entered into the
system.
In my opinion, Kudler Fine Foods could benefit from a holistic Finance and Accounting system that
will allow for better compatibility with the company s other systems. The current system has a
module for each major function and each module has to maintain compatibility with the other
modules. If any upgrades or changes were to be made on any of the other systems in the company,
all of the separate modules of the Finance and Accounting system would need to be compatible. This
means that there is a greater expense in upgrading or changing any other system in the company
because all systems must be connected to the F amp; A system. A holistic system that can provide all
of the necessary functions needed by the company all in one program and streamline the process and
minimize the costs of upgrading systems anywhere in the company. In the long run, it would be less
costly to first upgrade the Finance and Accounting system before any other systems are upgraded.
Then the other systems can be tailored around the Finance and Accounting system to ensure
compatibility and to unify the company s business systems. The alternative
Purpose Of The Crusades
Introduction

The Crusades also known as the Holy Wars, were a series of conflicts centered around the disputes
of Christians wanting to conquer Muslims. These movements occurred in the Middle
East and were centered in the Holy Land of Jerusalem. Most often, the crusades were petitioned by
the church and lead by papacy. In total there were nine major crusades and an unnumbered amount of
minor ones. Though the Crusades caused many deaths, the movements also had major impacts
throughout the world in furthering the cause of Christ.

Crusaders were able to regain control the Holy Land . The Second Crusade In 1146, the Turks
conquered and obtained the Latin Kingdom of Jerusalem. The fall of the city of Edessa within this
kingdom and later the entire county of Edessa, marked the beginning of a Second Crusade (1145
1149). This Crusade was led by King Louis VII and
Conrad III of Germany. The armies they generated came from France, England and Germany.
The purpose of this battle was to get back Edessa and to strengthen Jerusalem to prevent siege.
When the two kings and their armies entered into Anatolia, they failed and were defeated by the
Turks. Historians say nothing was accomplished in this Crusade and its reason for failure was a lack
of communication amongst the kings, who lead the battle. This defeat effected the European
economy and left Jerusalem literally unprotected and the Muslims later regained control.

The Third Crusade Saladin, a Sultan of Egypt, took possession of Jerusalem in 1187, thus beginning
The Rocking Horse Winner Literary Analysis
The central theme mainly focuses on a woman named Hester who had no luck and was never
satisfied with her life. Since Paul didn t recognized his circumstances, it created him to desperately
seek for his mother s love and approval. Therefore, the pursuit of money and material riches are the
arguments conveyed in the story that interprets Paul attempting to brighten up his need for love by
pleasing his mother s lust for money. However, others may believe that Paul is just an ordinary kid
who enjoys his rocking horseand don t really understand the true meaning of money. In the story,
The Rocking Horse Winner , Paul s arc demonstrates that the power of money led to greediness
and the intense desire for wealth. The capacity of money is responsible for a high level of
satisfaction because of the fact that Paul s mother don t love him which created her to buy a rocking
horse. According to the text it state Now! He would silently command the snorting steed. Now, take
me to where there is luck! Now take me! This exhibits how Paul is pertaining to think more about the
rocking horse with his own appeals that eventually advance to other conflicts throughout the story.
For instance, verbal ironywas consumed in the story since Paul wanted to stop the houses cries for
money by providing it with more money. Even after Paul equipped the house with money, the house
continued to haunt Paul s family. As portrayed in the text it further states Behind the shinning
