How Did The Sugar Act As A Result Of The Revolutionary...
Thesis 18th century Britain was a turbulent era as a result of the Seven Years War, the death of
King George II and the inauguration of King George III, rapid expansion of territories in America
coupled with the Colonies strong desire for independence from Britain as well the passing of
several acts on behalf of British Parliament from the period 1763 to 1783. The Sugar Act of 1764,
Currency Act of 1764, Stamp Act of 1765, Tea Act of 1773, Declaratory Act of 1766, and
Intolerable Acts of 1774, were some of the acts passed by Parliament prior to the American

The Stamp Act created a crisis for both Britain and the Colonies due to the backlash from the
Colonies. As such, a year after being passed, the Stamp Act would be repealed and superseded with
the Declaratory Act of 1776, which would increase the scope of power and authority that Britain had
on the Colonies as well as reduce the scope of the Sugar Act. In addition, the Declaratory Act
affirmed Parliament s right to pass and execute laws on the Colonies in all cases whatsoever (http:/

Weaknesses Of The Intelligence Cycle
Thus, intelligence cycle process as an integral part of the Intelligence System has intrinsic
weaknesses within the process itself due to the interplay of different pathologies within the system.
It may emanate in every phase of the process from Planning and Direction, Collection, Processing,
Analysis and Production, and Dissemination. Julian Richards in his book The art and science of
intelligence analysisdiscussed the problems associated with intelligence cycle. The sources of failures
in the intelligencearena: Cognitive and analytical processes undertaken by the analyst when they
assess the material available to them, and the organisational structure and flow process of the
intelligence machinery itself (Richards, 2010). In which... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Failures of Perception
Other kinds of intelligence failure have resulted from the fixed ideas of leadership and their
deliberate sightlessness to uncomfortable facts. To some extent, intelligence chiefs are more
comfortable with conformity than the contestability of ideas. In fact, the more rigid the hierarchy,
the higher is the likelihood of intelligence failure.

Failure of Dissemination
The failure of dissemination occurs when intelligence is circulated too late, given to the wrong
people and intelligence are accorded with a very low priority. Wherein politicians and policymakers
failed to consider the intelligence to validate an espoused position by that of the analysts.

In summary, although the various definition of Intelligence Failure has developed and emanated
from different time frame and separate events in History. Their deductions are still applicable and
viable in this contemporary time. In history and in recent time, the human factor is always a
significant contributor to intelligence failure. This human element is manifested in the three key
intelligence pathologies as discussed earlier. These intelligence pathologies have an impact on the
whole system of the intelligence. Further, the interplay and existence of these pathologies can create
the likelihood of strategic shocks in different ways, but that they can be related.
Then What is Strategic Shock? Strategic Shock according to Peter Schwartz and Doug Randal

Cultural Imperialism
Body Images, Eating Disorders, and Cultural Imperialism As society begins to grow a dependency
on media, particularly social media, more and more research is being conducted on the effects of
this kind of exposure on self esteem, body image, and more importantly eating disorders. As society
becomes codependent on the technology that has made life that easier, exposure to marketing
techniques and other social cues has increased and with that increase so has the negative perception
of body image increased. It is because of this growing tendency of humans to develop subconscious
ideas of the perfect body that this paper looks to answer the question of whether American media is
portraying these unhealthy images of a perfect body or perfect humanto society. This causes several
negative tendencies from low self esteem to an array of mental eating disorders due to the
dissatisfaction with one s own body. It is the opinion of this paper that American media is in fact
imprinting these ideas of a perfect and unhealthy image of the human body onto the general public,
whether it be knowingly or unknowingly.
Method
The author reviews studies on the effects of ideal body images in the American media on the general
public, comments on these studies effects on both males and females, and outlines changes that must
be implemented to negate the negative effects on self esteem and the perception of body image.

Definition Of Basis Management Principles
Introduction
Supervision is the activity carried out by supervisors to oversee the productivity and progress of
employees who report directly to the supervisors. Supervision is a management activity and
supervisors typically are considered to have a management role in the organization. The act of
planning, directing, coordinating, and controlling resources to include personnel, equipment,
communications, and facilities to accomplish a mission goal applies to many domains such as first
response systems, law enforcement, space missions.

Management principles are guidelines for the decisions and actions of managers.
Authority
Authority is the power an organization gives to a supervisor to do something or to get something
done. There are two types of authority: formal and informal. Formal authority comes with the
position a person holds in the organization. Informal authority, also referred to as personal authority,
is the power you have because of your abilities and personal traits. In my opinion, authority is means
want to control something in your hand. Formal authority means use law or rules to control the store
or public place. Informal authority means you want to control something by yourself, nobody help
you.

Depleted Uranium
Uranium is utilized in nuclear power plants because of the ability for Uranium 235, to undergo
Nuclear Fission. The energy produced is caused by a reaction between Uranium 235 and the constant
bombardment of neutrons. This method of energy production creates a uranium rod that has a lower
ratio of Uranium 235 to Uranium238. These rods containing less U 235 are not as reactive as rods
rich in the isotope, causing less and less energy to be produced. This by product is depleted
uranium and is still radioactive, but no longer has any use in the generation of energy+. In 1991
this by product was utilized during the Gulf War as an armor piercing round because of it s high
density, and ability to ignite+. The use of depleted uranium as armor piercing... Show more content

Gamma radiation is weakly emitted from depleted uranium+ but the fact that internalized uranium
has direct contact with cells within the human body is cause for concern. Gamma radiation is a
mutagen, meaning that is causes incorrect replication of DNA within a cell. The incorrect
replication in DNA occurs because the radiation causes free radical to develop within a cell that
cause an incorrect order of nucleotides, and when the cell replicates so does the error. This continued
replication of Incorrect cells can become malignant and cause cancer+. The human body is resilient
and does eject the uranium from the body through

The Problem Of Traffic Lights
The idea for traffic lights began in the mid 1800s when a system was essential to sustain the
amassed flow of horse drawn traffic flow. By 1868, a signal was put in by the intersection of
George St and Bridge St, which is close to the Parliament. The installment provided pedestrians a
safe crossing, and an answer to officials that need to sustain traffic.
The semaphore involves a signal of a tall post with movable arm. When the arm is aligned
sideways, it mean stop. After dark, a gas lamp was lit at the top. The green lenses means to go,
and red means stop. Originally, the signal is controlled by hand, and the officers decided when the
signal to be changed according to traffic flow. They would also whistle to remind drivers, when the
signal will change. However, this method turned out to be hazardous. In 1869, a leak in one of the
gas lines led to a traffic signal explosion. The incident severely wounding the policeman operating it,
and led to the semaphore project to be terminated in London.

In America, the semaphore were be rolled out to public because there were more motorists
travelling on the road. However, many problems arose due to officers finding it to be difficult to
sustain the traffic congestion. Some cities started to install traffic towers, which allowed officers to
have a clearer view to monitor the traffic in an elevated platform.
In the early 1900s, the automobiles just gain popularity throughout the world and traffic becomes
busier results. Car were
The Pros And Cons Of Gulf Oil Spill
Gulf Oil spill vs. Three Mile Island disaster

Disasters made by error of a man made machines can lead to as much wreckage as a hurricane or
tornado. These lead to hurt in the communities that were affected, as well as the economic state of
the government. Man made disasters can also lead to very critical change in the public s opinion
on the use of the certain energy source. If the opinion changes to being against the use of the
power source, it can impact the stock and profit the industry s make. On Wednesday March 28,
1979 in Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, the Three Mile Island nuclear plant had a failure in the
cooling core in the #2 reactor. The TMI 2 reactor was destroyed and 13 million curies of
radioactive gas was released into the air. 31 years later on April 20, 2010 the BP pipe 5000 feet
beneath the oceans surface was leaking oil and gas. This pipe would continue to pour oil and gas
into the ocean for 87 days before being capped off. The Gulf Oil Spill affected and continues to
affect the citizens of the United States of America and the ecosystems around the area more than
Three Mile Island disaster did because of the lives lost, amount of lives affected and damage it did
to the area. During a critical debate of whether or not nuclear energy is safe and efficient to use the

The Value of Philosophy Essay
The Value of Philosophy

The word philosophy is derived from two ancient Greek words, philos meaning love of and sophia
meaning wisdom . Philosophers are lovers of wisdom. They have had the time and resources to sit
back and wonder about what things really are like when all the pieces are fitted into one final
accounting.
The history of philosophy is generally divided into four stages or periods.
Ancient philosophy covers Greek and Roman philosophy.
Medieval philosophy deals with the great attempts by Christian, Jewish, and Arab thinkers to
synthesize their religious faiths with Greek and Roman philosophy.
Modern philosophy includes the various philosophical attempts in the 17th and 18th centuries to

Russell was a leader in the revival of the philosophy of empiricism in the large field of
epistemology. He wrote Our Knowledge of the External World (1914), The Analysis of Matter (1927)
and Human Knowledge, Its Scope and Limits (1948). He also wrote Principles of mathematics
(1903), Principia Mathematica (with A.N. Whitehead; three volumes, 1910 1913), and Introduction
to mathematical Philosophy (1919).
Russell agrees that philosophy deals with issues with uncertain answers. Yet in this uncertainty, he
sees philosophy s chief value that in contemplating the great questions one is freed from narrow
personal interest alone.
Let s review the problems of philosophy, and then make conclusion, what is the value of philosophy.
In view of the fact that many men, under the influence of science or of practical affairs, are inclined
to doubt whether philosophy is anything better than innocent but useless trifling, hair splitting
distinctions and controversies on matters concerning which knowledge s impossible.
This view of philosophy appears to result, partly from a wrong conception of the ends of life, partly
from a conception of the kind of goods which philosophy strives to achieve.
Philosophy, like all other studies, aims primarily at knowledge. The knowledge it aims at is the kind
of knowledge which gives unity and system to the body of the science,
Environmental Threats To The United States
There are many problems facing the world today. One of the biggest issues facing future state
leaders is the management of environmental threats to the United States land, water and air quality.
Combating pollution in our area will take more than picking up discarded trash from the sides of
our roadways; it means looking to the water and air, as well as the land. Davidson County in
Tennessee alone hosts approximately 2,500 total miles of streams. Of these, an astounding 350 miles
were placed on the Environmental Protection Agency s (EPA) list of impaired waters in 2009
meaning that pollutionhas altered properties of the water to the extent that it does not meet quality
standards and cannot meet its designated uses. Pollutants such as... Show more content on

Curbside Composting: The program caters to more than 5,000 commercial participants and many
thousands of domestic households. Compost items include food waste, used paper products and
garden clippings, all of which are transported to the Jepson Prairie Organics composting plant
where they are reduced to a rich compost material. This material is then used by farms and
vineyards as fertilizer to provide nutrients for plant life. This decreases the amount of trash in
landfills and also gives back to the farmers which produces food. This has already been adopted by
many cities across America and will continue to grow.

Grief Reflection Paper
I would say there were a few class discussions that I personally connected to, but it is easier to
write about it than talk about it in class for me. Our in class writing 12 I specifically connected
with number one which states Our suffering is not unique but is shared by millions and trillions
of other beings, animal as well as human. We find out that we have cancer, and we breathe in the
fear, the disbelief, the pain of all cancer patients and send relief to all. We lose someone dear to us,
and it connects to everyone who is overcome with grief. We lie awake with insomnia, and it links us
to countless others who are lying awake. On the spot, we breathe in our sleeplessness and the
sleeplessness of others, breathe in our anxiety, our agitation, and the same discomfort felt by others.
On the spot, we send out restfulness, peace of mind, contentment (p. 81). I feel I strugglewith this
personally because I am a very closed person and do not like to share my suffering or grief. I have
to face though it isn t my decision because I cannot stop people from suffering the same events
that I suffer in my life, it is all out of our hands and allows us to form much deeper connections
without knowing. I believe I most struggle with my grief in the loss of my father, which I know I
am not the only one to lose my father in the world, but it is hard for me to think that as I write this
paper right now another little girl could be losing her dad. Not only do you share suffering with
complete strangers, but you share it with your closest friends and family the most without
thinking about it. In the book it states, The word tonglen is Tibetan for sending and receiving .
This makes me think of the willingness to share/send our grief and the willingness of others to
take/receive it and help us through it or vice versa for us to take someone s grief/suffering and
help them through it even if you may be suffering as well. If we do not try to face our suffering
on our own, I believe it could help lessen it and possible help you to overcome it by allowing
others to help you, but nevertheless if you overcome this obstacle there will always be another one
to face in the future. Another one of our in class writing that got me
My Trip To Galapagos Island Essay
I planned for my trip to the Galapagos Islands for about a year and a half. It was my chance for a
trip outside of the United States and a chance for me to solidify what I wanted for my future. It
was a ten day trip with four days in the capital of Ecuador, Quito, and six days on the islands. I
went with a group of kids from my high school, another high school in Massachusetts, and a group
from Georgia. There were no parents on the trip, only a couple of chaperones from the schools, and
very little access to the internet or the outside world. I was so excited to experience the anomaly that
Charles Darwinhad discovered on these islands. I would be forced to interact with people I had
never met before for twenty four hours a day who may or may not have the same interests as me.
I was not friends with anyone on this trip and talking to new people had always terrified me if
someone I knew did not involve me in a conversation. I would be rooming with people who knew
nothing about me and yet they became people that I now cherish memories with. The islands
were exactly how textbooks describe. You could walk across one and see a rainforest, a desert, and a
small rural town. There was Isabela Island first, with it s five peaks and it s coastal town, where...

On Raising Biracial Children Summary
After the ruling of Loving v. Virginia in 1967 the U.S Supreme Court deemed laws prohibiting
interracial relationships as illegal. Although this ruling was meant to change some of the social
inequalities associated with interracial relationships, there are still incidents of where belonging to
a multiracial family brings problems such as the way individuals identify their culture, and how
others view them. Since Eubanks grew up in a multiracial family, his decision to bear children with
his multiracial wife was a way for him to continue to challenge white supremacy. Cheryl Seelhoff,
author of On Raising Biracial Children illustrates how being a white woman and having a child by a
black man was a challenge towards white supremacy because it... Show more content on

During this account, Eubanks finds that his son s approach to how he identifies himself and his
reaction to the DNA results illustrates a generational gap. Eubank s son, Patrick, describes that
when he is confronted with how he identifies, he solely bases it off the assumptions that someone
makes about him (Eubanks, 2013). Patrick s approach to how he deals with identifying himself
speaks to the prejudices that individuals or a group of people have about the way that people who
they presume to belong to a certain group should look and behave. This notion of thinking from
Patrick then creates the realization for Eubanks that DNA results confirmed for me that identity
cannot be constructed based on a percentage of African ancestry, and that our society s generally
accepted racial categories cannot begin to address the complexity and nuance of our heritage.
Eubanks explains to his audience that due to the fact that almost every individual s DNA is a
mutation no one should feel inferior or superior to another group. He also expresses how one
should also not make basic assumptions based on an individual s appearance along with not feeling
guilt or shame about the basis of one s genetic
