The Border War Between Ethiopia and Eritrea Essay
Ethiopia is one of the oldest surviving countries in the world. While its current economic, societal,
and political conditions are considered povertous from the viewpoint of a first world nation, the
country has been a relative powerhouse in the Horn of Africa. It has a large military, gross domestic
product growth, and a relatively stable international position compared to its neighbors. In the last 60
years, however, it has been continually embroiled in a border dispute with its neighbor Eritrea.
Eritrea, a former province of Ethiopia, has fought against the larger nation s control for decades,
resulting in warin the 1990s and massive tension in the area since. This border conflict has the
potential to flare once again and throw the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Both countries reluctantly agreed to the border agreements laid out by the international
commissions, although neither were happy with the British border line that was being followed
(BBC, 2000). The two countries were somewhat stable according to this agreement most likely due
to the fact that both were recovering from economic and political changes brought by the separation
until 1997, when Eritrea began to assert its own independence by printing its own international
currency, building its military power, and seeking a place in the politics of the area (Lorton, 2000,
p. 103 6).
In 1998, fighting began over what is said to be a minor border dispute, as well as differences on
ethnicity and economic progress. This is highly understandable considering the various ethnicities in
each country, the religious differences, and the tribal conflicts that have been taking place in the
region. This fighting began a two year long war, in which countless men and women were killed
and the economies of the two countries ravaged by the military expenditures (Abbink, 2003, p. 410
16). In the end, Ethiopia s size, military power, and armament won out over Eritrea s enthusiasm, and
the two countries formed a tenuous peace that has lasted through the present (Abbink, 2003, p. 416
17).
The border is still a disputed zone, though, and both countries militaries commonly patrol the area or

Downtown Victoria Architectural Analysis
Downtown Victoria is filled with a great deal of architectural structures that vary in style from old
Eurocentric to modern. As you walk the streets of Downtown Victoria it is hard not to notice the
beautiful Eurocentric inspired buildings that make you feel as if you are touring an old city in
Europe. Although many of the more unique buildings are small, they display plenty of character
through their colours, shape and materials. Victoriahas modernized some aspects of its architecture
but it has managed to keep many of its aged and Eurocentric inspired buildings that capture Victoria s
character. As I roam the streets of Downtown Victoria what catches my eye instantly are the
Eurocentric looking buildings. There is something especially about... Show more content on

I took a sunny afternoon to take a walking tour of Downtown Victoria and there were various
buildings that gave me different feelings as well as having my mind make connections to buildings
I ve seen elsewhere. First being 560 Yates Street s Oriental Building, where I was reminded of a
New York City style apartment which was short, made of rustic red brick, displaying rounded
window followed by having that tinted brown giving it that old and dirty look. Then there was a
sudden switch as I came across 1675 Douglas Street s Terasen Gas Building. The Terasen Gas
building was very generic and modern office looking building. This type of building was one
where if you came across a photo of it, you wouldn t be able to pin point where it came from,
meaning it could be anywhere in the world. The last and top favourite building that struck out to
me was Centennial Square s City Hall building. This building was my favourite for various
reasons one being able to capture that Eurocentric feel that happens to be one of my favourite
styles of buildings. It also really captured the eye with its bold red brick colour and unique shape; it
s almost impossible to miss. The outstanding thing about Victoria is the fact that its kept so many of
its older structures and is still able to give the small city character. Often with big cities there is

The Relationship Of A Young Working Class Hairdresser
When individuals are encountered with unintentional experiences, they are influenced to alter their
thoughts and attitudes. Within the play written by Willy Russell presents the relationship of a
young working class hairdresser, Rita who meets a retired university lecturer named Frank for the
purpose of her driving motivation to become more educated as she is bored with her ordinary life as
a working hairdresser. The poem was written in the context of 70 s England, and reflects the
significant issues of that time, such as an economic gloom, with widespread inflation, low
productivity, militant trade unionism and frequent strikes. Within the poem A life by Sylvia Plath is
mainly a commentary poem illustrating how an individual s life is split in two, one half revolving
around society and the other half symbolising anything outside of the conformist nature of society.
Throughout the play of Educating Rita, readers are first introduced to a university professor who is
searching for his hidden alcohol bottles in each section of his bookshelf. Being revealed to this
personal interest, readers are summoned to perceive Frank as a relaxed character. Jubilantly he
moves to the Dickens section and pulls out a pile of books to reveal a bottle of whiskey. This
quote denotes that Frank keeps his drinking habits a secret, especially away from people who work
in his field of teaching. The metaphorical use of Frank s alcohol being hidden from others is a
symbolic notion of his
The Arms Race And The Space Race
For many when they think of the space missions, the first thing that comes to mind is the astronauts
themselves. However, that view glosses over all of the people that did the scientific work behind
the scenes that enabled them to go on these missions and more importantly survive them. One such
person was Margaret Hamilton, one of the lead software writers for the Apollo program. However,
the road to Apollo 11and thus Hamilton s work is a long one, one that starts after the end of the
Second World War and the start of the Cold War.

After the Second World War, tensions between the two superpowers of the time where high. The
Soviet Union and the United States had never gotten along that well due to the communism
versus capitalism fight they were having for which system was better as well as a host of other
political reasons. This paper while not going into the arms race or the political side of the
tensions must remind the reader that this is what the background of the space race was or else
the sense of urgency regarding it is lost. There was the ever looming fear of nuclear war and this
wasn t a time of scientific partnership. The space race was a chance for both of the countries to
show off as well as prove which one was better.

In the first move of the space race, the Soviet Union successfully launched Sputnik I on October 4,
1957. Having a beeping artificial moon launched by an enemy state in a time of high tensions,
Sputnik caused a fair amount of understandable
Engagement With North Korea Essay
Engagement with North Korea did not start with the Clinton Administration, in 1988 President
Reagan s modest initiative enabled unofficial non governmental visits by North Koreans into the
United States. This gave permission for limited commercial exports of US humanitarian goods to
Pyongyang, and permission for engagement between U.S. diplomats and North Korean officials. The
importance of these engagements should be evaluated in four main policy objectives towards our
national security:

1)Enhance regional stability:

North Korea s geographic position is critical to the national security of the U.S., Japan, South, Korea
and the South Pacific region as a whole. Armed with significant nuclear weapons and the fourth
largest army in the world, the possibility of an unstable North Korea has been avoided for decades,
therefore recent threats ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
policy has prevented any threats to the international nonproliferation from a nuclear North Korea
which would have led to the development of nuclear weapons in South Korea, and Japan, and even
the trade of nuclear weapons material or technology. In regard to missiles, the United States has
secured North Korea s announcement of a long range moratorium in fall 1999 through years of
efforts. Nevertheless, there has been no deal yet to curb North Korea s exports of its indigenous
deployment. Recent threats have prevented the U.S. in moving forward with future deals and
weakens current established ones.

3)Encourage dialogue between North Korea and South Korea:

Domestic and inter Korean politics heavily influences U.S. policy results; therefore, maintaining a
consistent diplomatic relationship with North Korea is imperative to the dialogue between the North
and South. Inconsistency from President Kim Young Sam was largely due to his failure with
Pyongyang as a result of his approach to policymaking and domestic political pressures. Meanwhile,
President Kim De Jung has
Rorschach, By Alan Moore
Merriam Webster Dictionary defines a superhero as, a fictional character who has amazing powers
(such as the ability to fly) or a very heroic person ; yet, many of the characters in Watchmen have no
supernatural power and are immoral by most precedent societal standards. Alan Moore, in the
graphic novel Watchmen(1986 1987), asserts Rorschach as an example of deontology. Moore
supports his thoughts through dialogue and illustration. The author s purpose is to juxtapose
philosophical beliefs by comparing their varied flaws through differing narrators points of view. The
author takes a condescending tone in an effort to enrage his target audience of adult males. This
paper seeks to illustrate, qualify, and challenge Moore s claim that Rorschach is a deontologist.
Moore sets an example through the character Rorschach that all men should be protectors of their
society. In Watchmen, he portrays Rorschach as a vigilante hoping to save people from the evils
of wrong doers. With the threat of nuclear attack, the world is in turmoil. Rorschach investigates
the murder of fellow Watchman, Comedian, and warns other superheroes while enlisting the help
of Nite Owl in order to find out who is behind the latest attack. After Dr. Manhattan, a god like
superhero, is forced to leave earth for Mars, Rorschach is set up and placed in jail for murder. Nite
Owl, now convinced Rorschach s theory that someone is trying to harm the Watchmen is true, frees
Rorschach from jail and they join
Delta Airlines Cases
On December 01, 2015, I, FAM Christopher Catone, was assigned a FAM mission on Delta Airlines
flight number 0132 (DL #0132) operating from Detroit Metropolitan Airport to Amsterdam Airport
Schiphol (DTW AMS). Also assigned to the flight were FAM Wayne Solgot, FAM Damion
Callahan Howard and FAM Scott Howard. At approximately 20:32, while flight 0132 was taxiing
from gate A28 of Detroit Wayne County Metropolitan Airport(DTW), I was approached by Fight
Attendant (FA) Anita CLARKE (ID#0545538). During the boarding process, FA CLARKE
indicated she observed a passenger, later identified as David SPIRIDON, W/M (DOB: 3/25
/1983), attempting to conceal an object in his jacket and she also saw what appeared as wires
protruding from SPIRIDON s jacket. FA CLARKE contacted the Pilot in Command, Captain Burt
D. THORP, and advised Captain THORP of the SPIRIDON s actions. Captain THORP, through FA
CLARKE, requested the FAM team speak to SPIRIDON concerning his actions. FAM Howard went
to the passenger, identified himself as a law enforcement officer, and asked if SPIRIDON would
agree to speak in the rear galley. SPIRIDON agreed and walked with FAM Howard to the rear
galley. I then met SPIRIDON and FAM Howard in the rear galley. When asked, SPIRIDON
indicated he was unaware his actions caused concern and was not trying to hide anything. I asked
SPIRIDON if I could look in his property and he agreed to a search of his person and property.
During the search SPIRIDON assisted by removing property from his pockets to show me and

Impact of Budget Deficit Policy
I.Introduction
With an outline development goal who will achieved through the policy of macro economy is in
order to reach the level of unemployment is low gainful price stability, economic growth as expected
and distribution income it equal. To achieve development goal the government allocated to finance
through budget state that are arranged every year.
One of the fiscal policies implemented that related to the budget is a budget deficit, a policy which
the state revenues are less than the state expenditure. To overcome the lack of revenues, effected by
way of debt owed, whether sourced from domestic and abroad, issued a bond, or by printing money

So, government spending derived from debt at this point is equivalent to that tax cuts is funded from
debt not affect the consumption (Mankiw, 2007).
Research about inflation is based on Inflation Theory. One of the famous inflation theory is the
Quantity Theory that inflation can occur when there is increase the amount of money in circulation
and the public s expectations of price increases in the future.
Research on the impact of inflation to employment rate is based on Phillips Curve Theori, that said
when the unemployment rate is high, the inflation rate is low, and vice versa, if the unemployment
rate is low, then the inflation rate is high.

III.Literature Review
Research on the impact of budget deficits policy to inflation has been done a lot, including
research that conducted by Darrat (1985) using data from the United States in the 1960s , and the
results showed that the growth of money and the budget deficit policy in the U.S. affects inflation .
In these studies, Darrat using OLS (Ordinary Least Square) analysis techniques. Another study
conducted by Metin (1998 ) to explore the budget deficit policy in Turkey by using data in 1950
1987 and using the OLS analysis techniques , the results showed that the budget deficit significantly
influence inflation in Turkey. Further research conducted by Darrat ( 2000) is the budget deficit
policy in Egypt using data in 1957 1993 and uses technical analysis of the ECM

Daniel et al (2005) assessed that many health problems were more prevalent in obese children
like bone and joint pro The role of child age might also be particularly important in association
between maternal employment and body mass index of children (Morrissey et al 2011).Miller and

and activity routines. The study also reported that child s BMI increased significantly if their
mothers worked at irregular schedule. Thus, children of employed mothers were more likely to

The children found less time in playing with their mothers than those who did not work. Children
engaged in less physical activities were at greater risk of higher body mass index (Cawley and Liu
2007). Guo et al (2002) stated that according to U.S. research 59 percent of boys and 45 percent
of girls who were overweight at the age of three years, would be overweight at thirty five years of
age. Bradley et al (2008) showed in their study that higher BMI (body mass index) was associated
with more behavior problems and lower academic achievement during middle and late childhood.
Mcdonnell and Doyle (2014) examined that preschool children of well educated mothers had an
increased risk of childhood overweight and obesity. Benjamin et al (2009) found that informal child
care in early years had a determined effect on risk of overweight during childhood. Xie and Awokuse
(2014) investigated the causal relationship between maternal employment and children s weight
status in China. They found that maternal employment had a significantly negative effect on
likelihood of overweight or obesity status of childhood. They had further investigated through
subgroups which showed that maternal employment did not show any significant effect on weight of
children for urban children. Cooksey et al (2009) examined that maternal employment involved a

Demand, Supply And Elasticity
Demand, supply and elasticity are basic economic concepts that when applied to different
markets can help governments and individuals make informed decisions about things as basic as
what to purchase and how to collect taxes. UEA s Norwich Medical School and the Centre for
Health Economics at the University of York, conducted a survey across nearly 18,000 adult
commuters from around the UK over 18 years. A group of researchers analysed the well being of
a small group who swapped their cars or the public bus for a bike or going on foot. They re results
found that those who made the switch became happier. Demand is a curve showing the various
amounts of a product consumers want and can purchase at different prices during a specific
period of time. Supply is a curve showing the different amounts of a product suppliers are willing
to provide at different prices. Equilibrium price and quantity are determined by the intersection of
demand and supply. Price elasticity of demand (PED) indicates the responsiveness of consumers
to a change in price, and is reflected in the relative slope of demand. Production possibilities
curves (PPC) show the maximum production of goods that can be produced by an economy.
Given that all of the resources are being used fully and efficiently and the technology is fixed in
the economy, shown in Figure 1 is a PPC curve of the market of cars and bicycles. If production is
devoted mostly to cars, at point A, then the quantity produced of cars, VA, will
