1. SCOPE

The purpose of this statement is to define the rules and conditions designed to ensure that demolition
work is planned to enable personnel to be aware of all the procedures and dangers involved and to decide
on the safest method of work, including the following:

1. INTERCONNECTING WALKWAYS WITH STAIRS BETWEEN INLET SEPARATORS AT


GOSP PLANT
• Demolition of handrails at elevation EL. +112.718, where the walkway connects to the existing
platform.
• Demolition of existing cage ladders on the southeast side, which connects the access platform at EL.
+108.57 and the vessel platform.
• Demolition of existing concrete paving in areas where excavation is required to lay the platform
foundations.
• Demolition of the stanchioned mounted lighting system of the existing platforms

2. INSTALLATION OF LEVEL INDICATOR ON OILY WATER SUMP PIT – POWER PLANT AREA
• Demolition of the existing Level Switch PP-LS-01 located at Oily Water Sump PP-TK-832

3. REPLACEMENT OF EXPANSION JOINTS WITH EXPANSION LOOPS


• Cutting of the existing Pipeline into Expansion Loops.

4. INSTALL ADDITIONAL DIESEL FORWARDING PUMP PP-P-821 AT POWER PLANT


• Saw-cut and demolish the portion of the existing concrete pavement affected by the construction of
the new additional Diesel Forwarding Pump PP-P-821D
• Demolished portion of the existing 300mm high Karb wall affected by the new construction
• The CONTRACTOR shall demolish portions of the existing lines to provide connections for the new
pump PP-P-821D. Refer to the Demolition drawing no. KA-105143.

5. CONNECTING TK-731, 4" FEED PIPELINE TO WP-P-732 A/B DISCHARGE LINE


• Demolition work within the area of the proposed concrete Pump Pad and Pipe Supports/Pedestals.
• Demolition of Asphalt Concrete Pavement.

6. Construct Shelter at the Demulsifier Chemical Injection System (South Area)


• Slab, curbstone, asphalt, and existing light pole with foundation on shelter # 1 building area.
• Jib Crane with foundation.
• Electrical lighting pole (1800-8B-LG-035) to be relocated away from the newly constructed shelter #1.
Existing cables shall be re-routed to reach the new location of the lighting pole, see drawing number K-
180121 sht.001.
• Cable from Lighting Pole (1800-8B-LG-028) to lighting Pole (1800-8B-LG-029) shall be demolished,
replaced and re-routed see K-180121 sht.001.
• Curbstone & road pavement ramp area at shelter # 2.

2. RESPONSIBILITIES
2.1 Project Manager is responsible:
▪ For overall implementation of this method statement and supervision of all activities.
▪ For submittals and approvals of Drawings, Plans, Method Statements including Inspection and
Test Plans and Risk/Impact Assessments.
▪ Liaison with the client and all other parties for approval permits for the smooth operations.
▪ Overall supervision of Quality Management System.
▪ Overall Supervision of OHS & E Management System.
▪ Project execution and handing over of site to client and to obtain completion certificates.
▪ To coordinate with client for any changes to design and or project requirements.
▪ Controlling the progress work and ensuring final approval is obtained at least 3 days before start
of work.
2.2 Project Engineer is responsible:
▪ Arranging human and material resources and scheduling activities.
▪ For carrying out works as per approved drawings, method statements, and QHSE Procedures.
▪ For getting client/client representative’s approvals for works done, wherever applicable.
▪ Notifying QC engineer and issuing WIR (Works Inspection Request) in sufficient time (normally 24
hours in advance) when work is ready for inspection as detailed hereunder.
▪ Facilitate the inspection by engineer and obtain approval.

2.3 Surveyor is responsible:


▪ For carrying out survey activities
▪ For marking lines, coordinates and benchmarks as per the approved layout drawings.
▪ Ensure that all the measuring equipment used is calibrated and in proper working conditions.
▪ Comply with the QHSE requirements of the Project.

2.4 HSE Advisor is responsible:


▪ For carrying out Task specific risk assessments for each activity.
▪ Conducting toolbox talks to create awareness regarding assessed risks and environmental impacts
associated with each activity.
▪ For carrying out daily inspections to ensure works are being carried out in accordance with the
OHS & E Procedures and legal and other requirements.
▪ To ensure that the work permit system is implemented as per the “KJO Permit to Work Procedure”
requirements.
▪ To ensure that all equipment’s have safety load certificates (where applicable) and all operators
have licenses and permits.
▪ To supervise the construction activities as per the OHS&E requirements.
▪ To ensure that all activities are assessed for environmental impacts and compliance with the legal
and other requirements.
▪ To liaise with the client for any OHS&E requirements.

2.5 Lead QA/QC Engineer is responsible:


▪ For ensuring that all works are carried out as per approved drawings, method statements and
Inspection and Test Plans.
▪ Coordinate with client/client representative for the approvals of works as per approved ITP and
maintain records of the same.
▪ To ensure all measuring devices are calibrated and in proper condition.
▪ To ensure that all material used, which is permanently going to be installed in approved by client
and meet project requirements.
▪ Comply with the QHSE requirements of the Project.

2.6 Site Supervisor is responsible for:


▪ Assess the workplace and work activities to determine hazards that are present or are likely to be
present, in consultation with the safety manager/supervisor(s) or field safety officer as needed.
▪ Evaluate hazardous operations and implement needed precautions to ensure the safety of all
affected personnel (note: hazardous operations may include, but are not limited to: welding,
radiography, abrasive blasting, asbestos removal, electrical work, solvent cleaning, crane
operations, etc.).
▪ Understand the safest method of performing each job activity in their area of responsibility.
▪ Provide instructions to their personnel on proper work methods, sequence of operations,
potential hazards at each stage and precautions to follow.
▪ Ensure that equipment operators operate only the specific equipment for which they have been
trained and/or certified.
▪ Ensure equipment and tools (both power and hand tools) are in good operating condition and
properly used.
▪ Conduct weekly safety meetings for their personnel.
▪ Conduct daily work site inspections to identify and immediately correct unsafe acts, conditions
and/or equipment.

2.7 Field Safety Officer / Permit Receiver


▪ Understand the safety and health requirements of the contract and each Scope of work.
▪ Communicate safety rules and standards to the contractor and subcontractor workforce.
▪ Inspect the work site daily, report any unsafe acts/conditions to the supervisor and/or foreman,
provide recommendations to correct deficiencies and follow-up to ensure corrective actions have
been taken.
▪ Shall visibly demonstrate the priority of safety in all activities, including setting a good personal
example.

3. TOOLS AND EQUIPMENTS


• Mobile crane, Boom Truck, jack hammers, Gas cutter, Grinders, and Torches, JCB, relevant
scaffoldings, hand tools, wheelbarrows, power generators, dump truck, trailer, dyna, pipe cold
saw cutter, water tanker, asphalt cutter/concrete cutter etc.
• Insulated electrician’s tools, Cable cutter, Cable pulling equipment, Cable detector/locator,
Megger or insulation resistance tester, and multi-meter.
• PPE: Gloves, safety shoes, helmet, vest, safety glasses.

4. Preparation and Planning

A detailed survey shall be conducted to ensure the identification of any structural problems and risks
associated with flammable substances and hazardous. The survey shall take into account any adjoining
properties likely to be affected by the demolition works.

Consideration shall be given to the location of premises containing trees, cars, etc. so that restrictions
shall be made for the falling of materials, vibrations, and dust protection during demolition.

5. PROCEDURE

General:

• Adequate protection and preservation shall be given to existing lights and walkways.
• In case of any obstructions or fall of debris on roads, the area shall be cleaned.
• During demolition of concrete structures, suitable temporary supports shall be made to the
existing structure. All the demolished materials shall be separately stored and disposed of at the
approved dumping location.
• In case of observations of any unidentified services or cables during the process, it shall be
reported to the company.

• A sequence of operations shall be established that allows the clearance of debris regularly,
such that unnecessary overloads to the existing structures shall be avoided, and to maintain
good housekeeping.
• Upon completion of demolition work, the site shall be kept tidy, and the surrounding area shall
be cleaned to avoid the accumulation of any dust and debris.
• All steel & waste will be removed from the site in suitable skips that will be transported from the
site for disposal.

I. INTERCONNECTING WALKWAYS WITH STAIRS BETWEEN INLET SEPARATORS AT


GOSP PLANT
• Isolate the area and put up barricades.
• Unbolt handrails using appropriate tools.
• Demolition of handrails at elevation EL. +112.718, where the walkway connects to the
existing platform.
• Demolition of existing cage ladders on the southeast side, which connects the access platform
at EL. +108.57 and the vessel platform.
• Demolition of existing concrete paving in areas where excavation is required to lay the
platform foundations.
• Lower materials carefully and transport them to the designated waste area.
• Ensure the ladder is not in use and the area below is cordoned off.
• Use a manlift or scaffolding for safe access.
• Disconnect the ladder from the support points starting from the top.
• Cut welds or unbolt as per the original installation method.
• Clear debris and remove rusted anchors.
• Mark demolition zones.
• Ensure underground utilities are identified and protected.
• Saw-cut edges to define the removal zone.
• Use jackhammers or mechanical breakers to break concrete.
• Remove debris with loaders or manually.
• Disconnect the existing Cable of the lighting system from both ends (Cut and taped from both
ends).
• Demolition of the stanchioned mounted lighting system of the existing platforms

• Transport the demolished light and other accessories to a designated area assigned by the
KJO Representative.

II. INSTALLATION OF LEVEL INDICATOR ON OILY WATER SUMP PIT – POWER


PLANT AREA
• De-energize the circuit.
• Drain the section of the sump if necessary.
• Disconnect electrical connections.
• Unbolt and remove the level switch from the sump wall.
• The mounting point for a new installation.
• Cap or seal temporarily until new equipment is installed.
• The existing signal cable shall be disconnected as shown in the Demolition P&ID Drawing No.
B6-109-4000-4058 Sht. 1 of 1 Rev. 04A.
• Disconnect the existing Level Switch Cable from both ends, from the Level Switch and DCS
Marshalling Cabinet cable terminations (Cut and taped from both ends).
• Transport the demolished instrument and other accessories to a designated area assigned by
the KJO Representative.

III. REPLACEMENT OF EXPANSION JOINTS WITH EXPANSION LOOPS


➢ Cutting Existing Pipeline
• Identify and mark cut locations as per drawings.
• Identify the Isolation Valve and coordinate with the proponent to close it.
• Drain and depressurize the line by the proponent team.
• Use cold-cutting methods (e.g., pipe saw or mechanical cutter) for safety.
• Support the pipe during and after the cut.
➢ Preparation for Loop
• Grind and clean the pipe end.
• Fit temporary pipe caps to avoid debris ingress.

IV. INSTALL ADDITIONAL DIESEL FORWARDING PUMP PP-P-821 AT POWER PLANT

➢ Survey & Mark


• Identify all interfering installations.
• Mark the limits of demolition on-site.

• Saw-cut and break a 300 mm high wall.
• Use handheld tools for controlled removal.
3. Piping Demolition (per Drawing KA-105143)

• Close the valves and drain the line.
• The confirmation line is gas-free.

• Cut the piping sections as per the drawing.
• Remove and label ends for integration.

1. Slab, Curbstone, Asphalt, Light Pole Demolition


➢ Isolate Area
• Mark off work zone.
• Disconnect electrical cables from the pole.
➢ Demolish Light Pole
• Use a crane or lifting tools to safely lower the pole after unbolting.
• Break the foundation with mechanical tools.

• Remove Slab, Asphalt, Curbstones


• Saw-cut and remove with the mechanical breaker.
• Haul off debris.
2. Jib Crane & Foundation Demolition
• Disconnect mechanical/electrical attachments.

➢ Dismantling
• Unbolt the crane and lift using a hoist/crane/Boom Truck.
• Break the foundation using a breaker.

3. Cable Rerouting
➢ Demolish Cable Run
• Isolate electrical circuits.
• Cut and remove existing cables.
➢ Cable Laying & Termination
• Reroute to new pole location as per drawing K-180121 sheet 001.
4. Curbstone & Ramp Area at Shelter #2
➢ Demolition
• Remove curbstone with crowbar or jackhammer.
• Cut and break the ramp portions as needed.
➢ Area Preparation
• Clean and level the ground for new construction.

6. HEALTH, SAFETY & ENVIRONMENT

1. General Safety Measures

• At all times, the appointed demolition contractor will ensure a high standard of Health and
Safety is always carried out on site.

• Adequate segregation of pedestrians and vehicular traffic will always be maintained. Reversing
vehicles and plants will always be minimized.

• Permit to Work: All demolition and modification work must be conducted under an approved
permit from KJO. This includes relevant permits such as Hot Work, Excavation, and Electrical
Isolation.

• Job Safety Analysis (JSA): Conduct JSA or Risk Assessment before starting any job to identify
site-specific hazards and mitigation actions.

• Daily Toolbox Talk (TBT): Held at the start of each shift to discuss the job scope, hazards, control
measures, and emergency protocols.

2. Demolition and Excavation Safety

• Controlled Demolition: Use mechanical tools (e.g., saw-cutters, jackhammers) under


supervision. Do not use uncontrolled impact or force.

• Dust Suppression: Use water sprays or dust collectors to minimize airborne particles, especially
in enclosed or active process areas.

• Barricading and Signage: Demolition zones must be physically barricaded with clear signage to
prevent unauthorized access.

3. Electrical and Instrumentation Safety

• Before removal or rerouting of any electrical components (like lighting poles or level switches),
ensure Lock-Out/Tag-Out procedures are followed.

• Verification of Isolation: Use certified meters to confirm de-energization before starting


electrical demolition or cable rerouting.

4. Environmental Protection

• Waste Segregation & Disposal.

• Separate hazardous from non-hazardous waste.

• Dispose of oily rags, contaminated concrete, or insulation as per site Aramco environmental
guidelines.

• Use low-noise tools where feasible. Work during permitted hours if within noise-sensitive
zones.

5. Hot Work Considerations

• For cutting, welding, or grinding operations a Hot Work Permit must be obtained.

• Fire extinguishers, fire blankets, and watch personnel must be present.

• Flammable materials must be removed or covered.

6. HSE Monitoring & Reporting

• Daily HSE inspection checklists to be completed and signed.

• Near-miss, incident, or unsafe condition reporting must be encouraged and tracked for
corrective action.

• HSE officers must be assigned to monitor high-risk tasks like elevated work, excavation,
electrical demolition, and hot work.
