Positive Controversial Issues
Positive Controversial Issues
American model and actress Carre Otis once said, Exposing any subject that is argumentative means
risking judgement, but these are the topics that need to be talked about the most. She, and many
others like myself, believe that a copious amount of controversial matters need to be resolved by
public discussion. Quite a few of these subjects have a more positive effect in the United States
when they are foregone. Currently some of the most talked about issues are the right to have an
abortion, the legalization of gay marriage, and the rights that gun owners have. These topics may be
disputable, but if people are fully informed they can see the obvious positive outcomes that these
matters create.
A topic that is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The second amendment in the Bill of Rights protects the right of any person in the United States,
who is over 18, to own a gun. The second amendment was passed in December 15, 1791, and
states that it is the right of the people to bear arms, which mean that since the formation of
America as a country the citizens have been able to own weaponry. Legally, in 2016, any person
is allowed to own to own a gun if they have a permit, which in fact is already a law that makes it
so weapons cannot be wielded without limits. The leisure activity of hunting and the act of having
a form of self defense harder or even impossible to do. Guns are used in sports, meaning 32% of
gun owners hunt and 7% use guns to target shoot. 79% of male gun owners and 80% of female gun
owners have guns in order to create a sense of security and safety. Since it s clear that past gun
control laws in other countries have failed it is more effective to educate people about guns instead
of banning them. Mexico has the strictest gun laws in the world, but in 2012, they had 11,309 gun
murders. The Sporting Arms and Ammunition Manufacturers Institute stated, a knowledgeable gun
owner is rarely involved in an accident. Since the
How Is Kurtz Justified In A Civilized Society
Our expectations as a citizen of civilized society varies through time. 300 years ago, it was
socially acceptable to own a slave, to hang homosexuals and women were only allowed to cook,
clean and tend to the children. In 2016 things changed. Society changed. You are now expected to
not own slaves or discriminate anyone due to their race or sexual orientation. Most people we
look at as evil today, they were revered as heroes in their time. People are also driven to extreme
measures by their society and are told that what they are doing is justified. In Conrad s Heart of
Darkness, Kurtz was coerced by the European Society to exploit the Africans of their resources and
to enslave them. In Shakespeare s Macbeth, he was influenced by his very violent... Show more

Even though he was withered away as a shell of his former self, Kurtz from Heart of Darkness
still had a large amount of followers. Macbeth on the other hand was known as a tyrant to his
people and was driving the country to the ground. The name Kurtz itself has it s own legacy that
people seemed to gravitate towards. Almost everyone that Marlow met knew or admired Kurtz in
some way shape or form, even Marlow was unable to resist his gravitational pull. Even The
accountant commented, he is a very remarkable person referring to Kurtz (16). And Marlow even
said, Mr. Kurtz was a universal genius (24). Almost all of the Europeans marveled at Kurtz s
aptitude for ivory, and because of the European society at this time, Kurtz was seen as a hero. He
was widely respected because of his supernatural ability to harvest ivory faster than any other
man. Because his society valued this trait, Kurtz was able to win the approval of the European
people. Kurtz not only gained the acceptance of the Europeans, he was also able to become a god
in the African society as well. He was so well known that the chiefs came every day to see him.
They would crawl... (53). Kurtz had become so powerful in this African society that chiefs, other
powerful men, would crawl in his presence. The fact that these leaders were doing this for him, a
foreigner to the land, showed how much respect he had earned from the natives. Kurtz enjoyed
seeing this. He enjoyed seeing others crawl in his presence and actually the Africans didn t mind
either. Kurtz had a bad superiority complex and felt he was too good for the others at the stations
so he decided to make his own camp and rule it with his loyal subjects. He was so influential to his
followers they would kill each other and strip away their resources for him. On the day of his
departure Kurtz s Intended came to the bank with Kurtz s native followers, She put out her hands,
The Relative Value Scale Committee
The Relative Value Scale Committee (RUC) is a committee involving the American Medical
Association (AMA) and national medical specialty societies. The RUC represents the entire medical
profession, with 23 of its 29 members appointed by major national medical specialty societies
including those recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties, those with a large
percentage of physicians in patient care, and those that account for high percentages of Medicare
expenditures. The Chair, American Medical Association, CPT Editorial Panel, American Osteopathic
Association, Health Care Professionals Advisory Committee, and Practice Expense Subcommittee
make up the remaining six seats. Three seats rotate on a 2 year basis, with two reserved for an
internal medicinesubspecialty and one for any other specialty. Other committee members are:
Anesthesiology, Cardiology, Cardiothoracic Surgery, Colon and Rectal Surgery, Dermatology,
Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, General Surgery, Infectious Disease, Internal Medicine,
Nephrology, Neurology, Neurosurgery, Obstetrics/Gynecology, Ophthalmology, Orthopedic Surgery,
Otolaryngology, Pathology, Pediatrics, Plastic Surgery, Psychiatry, Radiology, and Urology.
One physician representative is appointed from each of the 109 specialty societies seated in the
AMA House of Delegates to serve on the Advisory Committee to the RUC. Specialty societies that

Leopard Man Essay
It would be a good idea to change your feelings, looks, beliefs, or actions because you could have
friends just like you, you can be different but be yourself. It may be safer, or better to be a
conformist because you can fit in and no one will make fun of you or judge you if you fit in. If you
would want to changeyour beliefs that would be a big change, but if that s what you want to do
that s ok but just know you re changing on what you believe in. The dangers of conforming could
be trouble because maybe you start to change your body and looks so that would mean it would
be much harder to get a job. Their are pros and cons to changing yourself the pros may sound better
but they re not. Like look at Leopard Man, well if you don t know Leopard... Show more content on

Feys is saying that society is pressuring us to all change, but in reality you don t see much people
change themselves. Feys says to be a human you need talents, taste, values, and dreams, but I don
t believe that I believe all humans are humans by being themselves by doing what they want they
don t need talents to be human. The author talks about how Leopard Man has changed for society
s demand, but Leopard Man says he did not change for the society he said he s on a paradise
which is earth and society can keep what they got. I just don t believe with what Feys says in
most of this article because what evidence does he show how a human should be a human. Logan
Feys just doesn t know what he is talking about I think that because if you read paragraph 2 he
says people that change are desperate for society s attention, but then if you read paragraph 9 he
said he doesn t judge people when clearly he judged saying they want attention. For my personal
experience I don t judge people that change if they change for happiness that s fine, but they don t
change for attention why would they change their whole body just to get attention i ve never
witnessed it but I do not think that is how it goes. This is why I disagree with

Structural Possible Via Secondary Reinforcement Techniques
CHAPTER 1
INTRODUCTION
1.1General:
Concrete, as a result of its many desirable properties makes and moulds itself to a variety of
innovative designs. It can be cast in diverse shapes and with its several advantages such as high
compressive strength, low thermal and electrical conductivity low combustibility and toxicity is
considered to be a very attractive building material.
However some deficiencies of the conventional cement concrete such as brittleness, poor tensile
strength; poor impact strength etc. resulting cracks and hence becoming unsuitable for certain
applications. Major research in this field identified crack free concrete structural possible via
secondary reinforcement techniques.
Deficiencies encountered with conventional concrete can be overcome by the addition of fibres to
cement concrete, which improves the crack resistance, fracture toughness, resistance to impact and
shock etc.
The micro cracks and interfacial discontinuities are the causes of unstable crack propagation and low
tensile strength of conventional concrete. The addition of fibres to concrete would alter the crack
propagation and makes it more controlled and slow, which leads to reduction crack propagation and
improved tensile strength.
Mostly researchers have used galvanized iron as fibre to study the effect of fibre on compressive
strength and other properties of fibre reinforced concrete. Galvanized iron has high density; and this
increases density of concrete as well as dead load of
Game Of Thrones Comparison Essay
The environment in A Game of Thrones has minor details that connect it to the War of the Roses.
However, it should be noted that many of these details were present in the real world entire
centuries before Game of Thrones, and so thus cannot connect it too well. A fair enough regard.Yet
the most damning element that connects the two worlds has to be the people in both a Game of
Thrones and the War of the Roses itself. The first and most noteworthy of them being Ned Stark
and Richard of York. The similarities begin with their rank within the respective houses. They are
both the heads of their respective houses, Ned being the lord of the Starks and Richard of the Yorks.
Both also have close connections with their respective kings and care for... Show more content on

Although both of their heads do end up on the ends of pikes after their demise. Cersei Baratheon,
the Queen of Kings Landing in A Game of Thrones , is also rather similar to that of her historical
counterpart, Margaret of Anjou. The two queens hold a similar level of ambition that could likely
rival that of Macbeth, doing whatever they possibly could to keep the throne from falling into
anyone s hands other than her owns. They both also give birth to rude spoiled children that would
meet their demise in their youth.Even in terms of physical appearances they are both similar, as
both are beautiful women with straight or curly blonde hair. If there is a difference between them, it
would be the way they control the throne. Throughout the war, Margaret is constantly just behind the
throne, never taking it herself since she is not related to the Lancastrian family by blood. Cersei is
no different, but she actually does attain the Iron Throne of Westeros after her child s demise. On the
subject of that child, Edward of Westminster and Joffrey Baratheon also have comparisons, but not
as many similarities as the two
Second Great Awakening
The Antebellum Period in America occurred between 1815 1860. During this time, religion,
economic expansion, and social reform all greatly changed the United States and ultimately formed
the nation that we have today. The Second Great Awakening greatly impacted religion and provided
an opportunity for social reform movements; while the market revolution permanently changed the
American economy. The preferred belief of many of America s framers, Deism is predominantly
hostile to organized churches and saw a decrease in the amount of followers because Christianity
became predominant in American society. Led by established religious leaders alarmed by low
church attendance, the Second Great Awakening began around 1790 and gained momentum in...

The completion of the canal instantaneously attracted an influx of immigrant farmers who gave birth
to cities like Buffalo, Rochester, and Syracuse. Some people, however, chose to move West during
this time of economic revolution. Elizabeth F. Ellet writes, My husband was seized with the mania,
and accordingly made preparation to start in January with his brother.
The completion of the Erie Canal in 1825 played a critical role in the Market Revolution because it
allowed trade and travel to occur more often, thus lowering prices and encouraging economic
competition. Overall, the Antebellum Period in the United States is significant not only because it
serves as a precursor to the Civil War, but also because the Second Great Awakening, social reform,
and the market revolution all occurred in this time period. Ideas like temperance and total
emancipation are controversial in the Antebellum Period, partly because of the religious movement
that was simultaneously occurring. The market was growing quickly, and the invention of the
steamboat and the completion of the Erie Canal only made trade more accessible and affordable.
The Antebellum Period foreshadowed an American future in which slavery is illegal and trade is
more accessible. Together, the market revolution and the Second Great Awakening strengthened
American both morally and economically, and as Ralph Waldo Emerson writes in 1837, We
The Big Data Is Preserve Privacy Information Of The...
The most important and significant challenge in the big data is to preserve privacy information
of the customers, employees, and the organizations. It is very sensitive and includes conceptual,
technical as well as legal significance. Any collected information about a person, when combined
with other sets of data, can lead to the finding of persons secret and private information. As big
data expands the sources of data it can use, the trustworthiness of each data source needs to be
verified, and techniques should be explored to identify maliciously inserted data (Jaseena K.U.
Julie M. David). Big data gives us a significant opportunity in the field of national security, a
breakthrough of diseases, medical researchers, marketing and business analysis, urban planning,
and so on. But these exceptional advantages of big data are also restricted by the privacy concerns
and the data protection. On the other side, privacy is a huge concern. Critical pieces of information
of users are collected and used in furtherance to add value for any businesses. This is done by
exploiting the insight in their personal information, and in most of the cases, users are totally
unaware of it. The user might not want to share his/ her information. But, it is already being known
to the data owner without the consent or even knowledge of it to the user. Unauthorized release of
information, unauthorized modification of information and denial of resources are the three
categories of security
Steven Dubner s Super Freakonomics
Freakonomics, in essence, is a book of completely unrelated topics relating to an underlying theme.
Topics in the book SuperFreakonomics include prostitution, terrorists, doctors with poor hygiene and
altruism in monkeys. The theme is the indication that everyone works for a reward. Steven D. Levitt
and Stephen J. Dubnerare the authors of this novel. Levitt is a professor of economics at the
University of Chicago. Dubner is a former writer at the New York Times. Their goal is to explain
the fact that all of the problems in the world can be solved with economic concepts. They do so by
presenting a series of problems and attempting to find a root cause. By doing so they attempt to
present to the readers a way to look at the world through an... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

This manner is that there is in each chapter an interesting story, followed by an analysis of the
problem in said story, before concluding with an solution or discovery about the underlying aspects
of the problems. Throughout this there are dozens of seemingly unconnected anecdotes that manage
to tie themselves into the greater problem. For example, the first chapter, titled how is a street
prostitute like a department store santa? starts off with an interview with a prostitute. Despite
saying that she dislikes prostitution, she admits she would do a lot more if it payed twice as much.
The chapter follows this up with a history of prostitution in Chicago. It discusses how women were
likely to become prostitutes because it payed so much more. Then the chapter analyzes why it payed
so much more by going into the supply and demand of the field. Sex was in high demand. Prostitutes
were in low supply. Therefore it was a high paying job. Overtime, as the stigma increased and casual
sex became the social norm, demand lowered, and now the modern prostitute makes a fraction of
what prostitutes made a hundred years ago. After much more discussion on the topic, the book
points towards a modern study about prostitution that shows that even non prostitutes take up
prostitution during certain times of the year (the fourth of july namely). Then it finishes by tieing
back to the original question of the chapter, stating They both take advantage of short term job
opportunities brought about by holiday spikes in demand (Levitt, 43). Thus the structure of the book

How Did Lenin Gain Power
The first two leaders of the Soviet Union, Vladimir Lenin and Joseph Stalin had very different
methods in commanding their country. Differences can be seen in the way they achieved their
political power and how they dealt with their political opponents. Similarities can be seen in the way
that these men were unwilling to share their power. Vladimir Leninachieved his political power by
rallying fellow Bolsheviks to seize government installations and storm the capital. The plan made
Lenin the visible figurehead of the Bolsheviks and the new government that was put into place.
While Lenin overtly planned his seizure of power, Joseph Stalinwas able to achieve his power behind
the scenes. Stalin used position as general secretary of the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Of the delegates who attended the National Congress of the CPSU (Communist Party of the Soviet
Union) in 1934, fully 70 percent had been executed by the time of the National Congress in 1939
(pg. 90). Through this purge, Stalin solidified his control over the communist party and the
country. Lenin differed by allowing his Bolshevik opponents to remain in their posts, but was
mindful of their activities. He took action to prevent these opponents from ousting him form
power. This action can be seen when Lenin, weary of his opponents turning to the Romanov family
for leadership had the entire family executed. A similar characteristic that both of these leaders
shared was their refusal to share power. This can be seen in Stalin s accumulation of powers as the
general secretary, which lead to his complete control of the country. Lenin also maintained this trait
as he actively tried to subvert the leftist that had opposed the coup before it had occurred. I think
that if Lenin had lived another twenty years that the country may have had a completely different
government in place. Lenin was able to guide the party through the civil car that solidified his
power in the new government, but he had a lot of opponents with differing views. I think it is
possible that there could have been another coup to try to
The United States And Capitalism

History 20W (section 59)

Paper #2
It is often said that history is written by the victor. Growing up, we have been indoctrinated that the
United States and capitalism are the moral choices in the perceptions of government. These views
of our history are rooted in our countries past, and since we learn from our pasts, we carry forward a
view of the United States moral dominance in world affairs. Yet during the cold war, the United
States was not the only country portrayed as the moral center of the world. After the end of World
War Two, the Soviet Union and the United States fought a war of words, the Cold War, for
supremacy and world influence. The tones of these arguments were that both sides and their
opposing forms of government were the pinnacle of moral standing. This war of words extended to
the battlefield as third world nations, seeking freedom from their colonial oppressors who were torn
apart by allegiance to either the Communist system of the Soviet Union or the Capitalist system of
the United States. It was the Soviet Union and the United States that waged the war of idealism,
chastising each other s moral vacancy, while members of smaller countries, such as Vietnam, turned
to both the powers as a means of improving their own lives while caring little for the verbiage of the
battling superpowers.
The two ideological heads of the Cold War were the United States and the Soviet Union. The ideas

The Tragedy Of Beowulf By William Shakespeare
Ancestry plays an important part in Beowulf, it is the blood that the characters carry that decides
their fate. To try to deny destiny, is both courageous yet, for some it is futile. Beowulf s most
conflicting character is Grendel, throughout the story you may feel pity for him, and other times you
feel hatred for him. Grendellive in a marshy swamp, and is a descendant of Cain, who killed his
own blood brother, Abel, out of jealousy. To pay for this ultimate sin, Cain s whole clan was
condemned to be outcasts. The apple does not fall far from the tree because Grendel also feels envy
towards the people in Heorotfor shunning him away, so he retaliates by killing people without
feeling any type of remorse.
In the beginning, times were peaceful in Heorot. There would often be banquets in the mead hall
and warriors would celebrate their victories. It harrowed him to hear the din of the loud banquet,
(Beowulf 43). Grendel was frustrated by all the noise the people made every single day. This may
seem as an overreaction, but the reader must look at it from both sides. One can only wonder about
the agony Grendel must have went through to hear the people who tormented him, have parties
every single day and enjoy themselves. It s no surprise that Grendel ended up snapping and going
into a rampage. Although Grendel is dangerous, he only attacks when it is dark outside. Could it be
that Grendel is ashamed of being seen when it s daylight? Grendel has a local habitation and a
