1.0 Title
The Procedure for identification and traceability of raw material & finished
products.
2.0 Purpose
This To follow a uniform system for the identification and traceability of raw
material and finished products during all stages of manufacturing and shipping.
3.0 Identification of Incoming Material
All raw material hot rolled plates/sections and coils shall have the following
information - Size, Specification, Heat, Coil or cast Number tagged or printed on
it. Materials/Components are identified at the time of receipt of Material. Each
material has a unique identifying number ie:- GRN No (Goods receipt note no.)
should be mentioned on the received material. Also project wise color code
shall be done on the edges, Center, side of plate/beam.

4.0 Traceability of Incoming Material
4.1 Steel Plates & Hot Rolled Section shall be traceable to the mill certificates
received by the Make, heat or cast number, grade.
4.2 TMU has standardized the use of Hot Rolled Plates & Hot Rolled Section project
wise according to Colour coding. Hence the heat no is transferred to the nesting
plan and transferred to the individual product components (Except Child
Parts). We have maintained traceability through our nesting plan. Hard
stamping of material Grade & heat number shall not be carried out on plates.
4.3 QC shall review the mill certificates during inspection of the raw materials and
shall file with the TCs.
4.4 The scanned copy of the MTC and invoice or Material test results wherever
applicable shall be sent to Client for review. The material shall be further
processed only after acceptance of the material by client and physical
verification by Client authorized inspection agency (If required).
4.5 Material History sheet to be prepared for all mark no. & get signed by Client.
4.4 Traceability cannot be maintained for Round Bar, Purlin, Sheetings if required
as per job specifications.
5.0 Identification During Manufacturing
5.1 All primary members shall be hard stamped (Internal Job No.,
Drawing No, Part Mark No, Qty) in Black Stage after Final
painting stenciled with the (Internal Job No., Drawing No, Part
Mark No, Qty).
5.2 All secondary members & components shall have handwritten with the
(Internal Job No., Drawing No, Part Mark No, Qty) on the bundles.
