• Personality is the combination of thought patterns, behaviours, emotional responses, and interpersonal
styles that make a person unique. It includes:
• Temperament (inborn traits)
• Character (shaped by experience and environment)
• Behaviour patterns (how one typically acts and reacts)
• How does personality get influenced?
• Genetically: Genetic influence refers to the traits and tendencies we inherit from our biological parents.
• Environmental Influence: The physical, social, and cultural surroundings a person grows up in, including
family, peers, school, and society.
• Experiences: The unique personal events and challenges a person faces throughout life.
• For instance, a child may be genetically shy (nature), raised in a social household (nurture), and encouraged
by a teacher to perform on stage (experience) all contributing to a more balanced, confident personality.
