CHAPTER 1

INTRODUCTION

In today’s rapidly evolving society, students must not only gather


information but also communicate and comprehend it effectively. As much of
academic knowledge is delivered through text, students require strong
reading skills to manage the demands of school and succeed academically.
Reading, as Flavell (1979, cited in Ramandhanti & Yanda, 2021)

According to Rahmandhati and vanada 2021 they emphasize the importance


of strong reading skills not only the ability of understand but also to capacity
for critical thinking and communicate information effectively .
Background of the study

THE PROBLEM AND IT’S BACKGROUND


STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

The study aims to analyze the role of critical thinking skills to enhance public
speaking in 11 humss B specifically questions that the researcher aims to
answer are the following:

1.) Why do students stutter or sometimes get mental blocks when


speaking in front of an audience?

2.) What factors contribute lack of confidence when speaking publicly?

3.) What specific critical thinking techniques can be introduced to


improve students’ confidence and fluency in public speaking?
SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY

The study about the role of critical thinking skills to enhance public speaking
among 11 humss B be benifets to provide information to the following
people:

1. STUDENTS

2. TEACHER

3. FUTURE RESEARCHER

SCOPE AND DELIMINATION


DEFINITION OF TERMS

(1) Coherence – related to how your ideas flow and are connected. It is also
about how easy or difficult your ideas are to follow.

(2) Disinterest – Not influenced by personal feelings, or by the chance of


getting some advantage for yourself.

(3) Resistance – various factors, such as lack of trust, fear of change,


conflicting values, or misunderstanding of your message.

(4) Conveyed – Refers to the act of communicating or transmitting ideas,


messages or emotions to an audience through verbal and non verbal means.

(5) Articulate -To express oneself clearly, effectively and persuasively in


speech or writing

(6) Capacity – Refers to ability, potential, or volume to perform, produce or


contain something.
