One who performs his duty without attachment, surrendering the results unto the Supreme God,
is unaffected by sinful action, as the lotus leaf is untouched by water.
Bhagavad Gita, 5.10
Pondering
This new consciousness must be a synthetic consciousness. It must embrace and harmon-
ise all the different parts of our being. It must be a consciousness in which the individual,
the nation, and humanity are all seen as parts of a single whole. It must be a conscious-
ness in which the divine in each individual is realised, and in which all individuals are seen
as equal parts of the Divine. It must be a consciousness which is not only intellectual and
emotional, but also spiritual and supramental.
