WEEK 9 LESSON PLAN

Week Ending: 4th July,2025 Day: Tuesday Subject: Computing

Duration: 60 minutes Strand: Computational Thinking
Class: BASIC 7 Class Size: 8
Sub Strand: Artificial Intelligence

Content Standard: Learners will Indicator: Learners can describe and compare key
demonstrate understanding of some technologies such as Machine Learning, Artificial
Neural Networks (ANN), Reality, Augmented Reality, Lesson:
emerging ICT concepts and their
basic differences. Gamification, Deep Learning, Data Mining, and 1 of 2
Analytics.

Performance Indicator: Core Competencies:

Learners can define each technology in simple terms and  Critical thinking and problem-solving
mention one example or application.
 Creativity and innovation

 Communication and collaboration

 Digital literacy
Reference : Adapted ICT curriculum, general technology resources
Keywords: Machine Learning, ANN, Reality, Augmented Reality, Gamification, Deep Learning, Data Mining,
Analytics
Resources: Charts, projector/slides with illustrations, videos (optional), flashcards with keywords

Phase/Duration Learners Activities

PHASE 1:  Ask: "Have you heard of words like Artificial Intelligence or Virtual
STARTER Reality?"
/OPENING
 Let learners mention any technology terms they know (e.g., games, robots,
filters in phones).

 Show pictures or icons representing each technology on the board and ask
learners what they think each represents.

Presentation and Explanation (20 mins)

PHASE 2: NEW  Explain each technology with a simple definition and example:
LEARNING o Machine Learning: Computers learn from data; e.g., email
spam filters.
o ANN: Like a simplified model of the brain to recognize
patterns; e.g., face recognition.
o Reality: Our natural world; no technology added.
o Augmented Reality: Extra digital images over real world;
e.g., Pokémon GO or AR filters.
o Gamification: Using game-like rewards in other activities;
e.g., classroom points system.
o Deep Learning: Advanced machine learning for complex
tasks; e.g., self-driving cars understanding street signs.
o Data Mining: Finding patterns in large data sets; e.g.,
supermarket finding which products sell together.
o Analytics: Studying data to make decisions; e.g., sports teams
analyzing player performance.

Group Activity (15 mins)

 Divide class into 4 or 5 groups.

 Give each group one or two technologies to create a mini poster
describing them using simple words and drawings.
 Groups present their posters to the class.

ASSESSMENT

 Ask individual learners to define one technology in their own words.

 Quick oral quiz: "Which technology helps computers learn on their own?"
(Expected: Machine Learning)

 Learners draw one icon or small picture to represent

their favorite technology in their books and label it.
INDEPENDENT
PRACTICE

 Groups brainstorm and create a scenario where two or

EXTENSIVE more of the technologies might be used together (e.g., a
PRACTICE game that uses AR and machine learning).

HOMEWORK Learners write 3–5 sentences in their exercise books explaining

which technology they would like to learn more about and why.

PHASE 3:  Ask: "Which technology do you think we use the most today?"
REFLECTION  Let a few learners share what they learned and which technology they
found most interesting.
Week Ending: 4th July,2025 Day: Wednesday Subject: Computing
Duration: 60 minutes Strand: Computational Thinking
Class: BASIC 7 Class Size: 8
Sub Strand: Artificial Intelligence

Content Standard: Learners will Indicator: Discuss the uses and importance of
demonstrate understanding of the Artificial Intelligence (AI) to society. Watch
video/picture of the use of AI in society (intelligent Lesson:
concept of Artificial Intelligence (AI)
and its relevance to society. robots). 1 of 2

Performance Indicator: Core Competencies:

Learners can describe at least three uses of AI in society  Critical thinking and problem-solving
and state its importance.
 Creativity and innovation

 Communication and collaboration

 Digital literacy
Reference : ICT curriculum, online videos, AI educational resources
Keywords: Artificial Intelligence, robots, automation, smart devices
Resources: Projector or TV screen, short video clip showing AI in action (e.g., robots, self-driving
cars, smart assistants), charts or printed pictures of AI devices

Phase/Duration Learners Activities

PHASE 1:  Ask: "What do you know about robots or machines that think like
STARTER humans?"
/OPENING  Let a few learners share what they know (e.g., robots, Alexa, Siri, game
bots).
 Show a picture of a robot or AI assistant and ask: "What can this machine
do?"

Discussion: Uses and importance of AI (20 mins)

PHASE 2: NEW  Explain that Artificial Intelligence (AI) means computers or machines
LEARNING that can "think," "learn," or "make decisions" like humans.
 Discuss some uses of AI in society:
o Healthcare: Helping doctors diagnose diseases, robotic
surgeries.
o Transportation: Self-driving cars.
o Home assistants: Devices like Alexa or Google Assistant.
o Security: Face recognition systems.
o Education: Smart learning apps that help students learn at
their own pace.
 Discuss importance:
o Makes work faster and easier.
o Reduces human errors.
o Can do dangerous jobs humans cannot.
o Saves time and improves quality of life.
Video or picture observation (15 mins)

 Show a short video or pictures of intelligent robots in factories,

hospitals, or as home assistants.
 Ask learners to describe what they saw.
 Discuss what the robots were doing and how they help people.

ASSESSMENT

 Ask learners to mention two uses of AI in society.

 Oral question: "Why is AI important for people?"

 Learners draw a simple picture of a robot or AI

machine they would like to invent, and write one
INDEPENDENT sentence describing what it will do.
PRACTICE

 In small groups, learners brainstorm and create a short

EXTENSIVE role-play showing a robot helping humans (e.g., in a
PRACTICE hospital, school, or home).

HOMEWORK  Learners write 3 sentences about how they would like AI

to help in their daily life (e.g., at home, school, in town).

PHASE 3:  Ask: "If you had a robot at home, what job would you like it to do for
REFLECTION you?"
 Let a few learners share their answers with the class.
