I - Background Information:

Place value can be defined as the value


represented by a digit in a number on the basis of
its position in the number.

Here’s an example showing relationship between


the place or position and the place value of the
digits in a number.

This is “THE PLACE VALUE CHART”. Remember that


we always start placing numbers on the right side
going to the left side. Let’s try placing the following
set of numbers.

In the first item, 4 300, the place value of 4 in the
