II. DUTY OF FOURTH ENGINEER
- Under the leadership of C/e and 2/e order keep watching 8 – 12
- 4/e managing the crane, auxiliary boiler, sewage treatment unit, lifeboat generator, daily
service water system and all kinds of auxiliary pumps, valves and pipelines, emergency fire
pump.
- Caculate noon and mauevering fire pump.
- Be responsible for keeping and maintaining the spare parts, store, tools and instruments of
the equipments under control
- Take over the navigational wath during navigation, lead the personnel designated by 2/e to
carry out inspection and repair work, and stay on board and take over the wath by turns
together with 2/e and 3/e
- Take charge of the job as a part – time ELEC and take the Responsibilities if the ship
without ELEC on board
III. ORTHER QUESTION
1. What is the most important thing during bunkering operations? – In my opinion, I think
that I should regularly take sounding sothat I can control the amount of received fuel oil to avoid
any oil spill.
- never do I receive over 85 % as tank volume
2. How is test safety device of boiler? Safety vale , fuel oil pressure high, miss fire, low low water
level, fuel oil temp high
3. How is tested boiler water, condensate water, m/e, g/e cooling jacket water? I tested
ankality, chloride, photphats, PH, hidzine
4. How is control limit?
- Anklity ( 150 – 300 ) , Chloride ( under 100 ) , ph ( 9.5 – 11.5 ) , photphats ( 30 – 70 ),
hidzine ( 0.1 – 0.5 )
5. Tell me some trouble of pump system in engine room ?
- Some trouble sush as impeller broken, working chamber broken, pump shaft broken or
wear, suction filter is dirty, pipe line broken, electric motor fail , ….

6. Tell me some trouble of deck crane?


- There are some trouble of the deck: hydraulic oil temperature high, oil cooler dirty,
hydraulic pipe broken, hydraulic pump and moto broken, overload, counterbalance for
luffing and hoisting trouble
7. What should you do in case soft of hydraulic oil?
- I read instruction book from hydraulic oil in use and change hydraulic oil follow maker
recommend
What shoud you do when hydraulic oil pipe broken?
- First report to chief officer stop loading cargo, stop hydraulic pump
- Collect oil and revented oil leaking to sea
- Prepare and arrange change pipe if port permit
8. What happen if oil cooler dirty?
- When the oil cooler dirty temperature of hydraulic oil to high lead to the crane stop by
protection devive action.
- High temperature dcrease pressure, cause may damage oil seal and o-ring.
9. How is test and check sewage in port or operation?
- Check medical
- Check UV lamp ( ultra violet )
- Check high water level
- Check valve overboad
10. Do you know running and operation BWTS ?
- Yes, I know on the last ship have set up, maker is Japan
11. Tell me about some alarm of BWTS ?
- Ballast pump stop, delivery low pressure , …..
12. Have you ever met PSC ?
- Yes, I have met many times.
13. What should you do before PSC come? Or what should you prepare for PSC
inpection?
- Before PSC come I must prepare all the safety equipment and document for PSC inspection
such as check and test engine life board, bilge water alarm, oiy water separator, sewage
treatment unit,…. And make sure that all equipment under my control in good condition
14. What does SMS mean ?
- SMS mean safety management system

15. What is SOPPEP mean ?


- SOPPEP mean ship board oil pollution factility emergency plan ( sawdust, drum, air pump ,
oil paper, bucket, broom .. )

16. What is the mean of ISPS CODE ?


- ISPS CODE mean international ship and port security CODE

17. What is SOLAS mean ?


- SOLAS is safety of life at sea

18. What is SSO, CSO mean ?


- SSO mean ship security officer. CSO mean company security officer.

19. What is the mean of CMS?


- CMS mean continuous maintenance survey
20. What is DP mean ?
- DP mean designated person
21. IF you keep watch in engine room you sea fire in the engine room. What should you do
?
- If small fire I can take the fire extinguish for fire
- If big fire I put the boton general fire arlam
- Notice for crew
22. If you keep watching in the ECR you see oil spill / pipe line break. What should you do
?
- Find the source equipment machine oil spill / pipe line break
- Stop if not dangerous and repair
- Calling c/e

23. When you are keep watching and you see one of cylinder of ME with exhaust gas
temperature is high what should you do ? tell me main reason ?
- First I call the bridge for raducing ME speed then I report to CE and 2E in time. In this case
may be injection valve or pump of that cylinder in no good working condition, may be
exhaust valve is broken, may be piston ring broken and technical condition of cylinder liner
no good

- Check Lub oil level at sump tank, cooling water system, fuel oi system, starting air system
- Open indicator valve
