3 - INSTALLATION

ALWAYS INSTALL THE AFTERCOOLER WHERE THERE IS THE

! LOWEST POSSIBLE AMBIENT AIR TEMPERATURE

3 - A - INDOOR POSITIONING

Always guarantee a sufficient air flow as follows (see Fig. l):

- Provide an appropriate air inlet and outlet (open window or other).

- If possible place the afterecoler’s air intake up against the air inlet for maximum cooling (leave a
500 mm gap between aftercooler and wall to allow fan servicing).

- Never place the aftercooter’s air inlet I near the (hot) air compressor.

3 - B - OUTDOOR POSITIONING

When positioning the aftercooler outdoors, respect the following guidelines (see Fig. 2):

- It's suggested to place the aftercooler under a roof.

- Avoid positions where leaves and other impurities can be sucked into the air intake.

- Provide a thermostatic fan shut-off device (stop= 3°C ; restart = 6°C) on the aftercooler’s
compressed air outlet to prevent any condensate in the air from freezing.

3 - C- ASSEMBLY

- The unit can either be wall mounted (using customer supplied brackets) or floor mounted using
the legs, either supplied as standard or available as an optional depending upon the model

- Install the separator (either supplied as standard or available as an optional depending upon the
model) onto the aftercooler’s air oulet as described in the separator manual.

3 - D - INSTALLATION

- AIR CONNECTIONS: Attach the compressed air piping to the threaded/flanged connections on
the apparatus (RESPECT THE DIRECTION OF THE AIR INLET AND OUTLET LABELS).

4 - OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE

FOR SEPARATOR SEE RESPECTIVE MANUAL

- To guarantee optimum operation, ensure that the maintenance program below is performed
regularly, and that the following rules are respected:

- Ensure a constant airflow through the aftercooler coil.

- Drain all water out of the aftercooler when it is not in operation (to prevent ice formation).

4 - A - COOLING COIL
Verify the state of the coil; if necessary clean it as follows:

- in spring: clean using a vacuum cleaner (or compressed air).

- in summer: this being the hottest period, keep the coil as clean as possible, with a vacuum
cleaner (or compressed air) and if necessary, with water.
- in winter: clean with water (with the fan off).
- if necessary (coil blocked) remove the fan and clean the coil in the opposite direction to the air
flow using a low pressure water jet (this operation must be performed by a technician to avoid
damage).

4 - B - FAN (S)
- Check that the fan rotates freely without any abnormal noise.

- Also cheek the current absorption.

- (The fan’s sealed lubricating system needs no maintenance).

4 - C - COMPRESSED AIR CIRCUIT

If the aftercooler is placed after a air compressor and if it consumes significant quantities of oil, periodically
wash the tubing as follows:

- Disconnect the air inlet and outlet. Force a chlorinated solvent (which must be neither strongly
acid or alkaline) through the air tubing with a centrifugal pump to remove the carbon deposits
(ensure the tubing is perfectly dry and free from solvent vapour before reassembling).
