General

General
Applies to 16 litre motors with XPI and cylinder block generation 2.

WARNING!

• The fuel system has a very high fuel pressure of up to 3,000 bar. The fuel system
must be depressurised using SDP3 before any work is started.
• The system should always be treated as pressurised, even when the engine is
switched off.
• Wear protective gloves and goggles.

Environment
• Dispose of excess oil in accordance with workshop procedures and local regula-
tions.
• Avoid spillage and use a suitable container. Used coolant must be disposed of as
specified in national and international law.

Work description
Preparatory work:

• Wash the engine.


• Drain the coolant.
• Remove the fan.

Then remove the parts in the order below:

1. Coolant pipe
2. Hydraulic pump for power steering
3. Coolant temperature sensor and oil pressure sensor
4. Fuel pipe and feed pump
5. Fuel filter
