Chapter 4 COMMGR

4.1 Overview

The drivers listed in the COMMGR window are communications connected to the
computer. When you add a new driver and set the communication parameter for it,
COMMGR creates a connection to the communication port specified for that driver.

Whenever the computer restarts, COMMGR also starts the driver automatically.
However, if the connectivity of the driver created is lost (for example, the Ethernet
Network card or the USB connection cable is removed), COMMGR stops the driver
and displays Error status for the driver. Once the connectivity is back, the driver
status will be OK again. An example for Error status is shown in the following figure.

Figure 4-1: Error status

4.2 Driver Setup

Figure 4-74: Delete device

COMMGR can perform device scan, which means that the computer can search
commands through the controller to the equipment connected to the controller, and
you can directly set the controller and the device connected to it, without changing
the field wiring. When the controller supports the device scan function (such as
AS332T), you can expand the node through the controller to continue searching.
Take AS332T as an example shown in the following figure. You can expand RS485

(COM1, COM2, Function Card), Ethernet or CANopen nodes, and click in front of
each node to search for connected devices.

click in the toolbar to open the automatic search. After the automatic search

is turned on, the icon will be grayed out and you can no longer click it. Then click
in front of the driver in the Routing Tree Window. It will continue to search for the
device status of this driver.

When a new device is connected, the Routing Tree Window will display the new

device; when the device is not connected normally, an error symbol will be
displayed on the screen immediately. At this time, you can check the connection
status and perform the search again, or in the Routing Tree Window, right-click on
the device and select Delete.

When you want to stop the continuous automatic search, click in the
toolbar to close the automatic search function, and the continuous search for all the
device status of the drivers will be stopped.
