Salgar Foods Pvt. Ltd.
1. Introduction:
A study visit was organized by the Department of Commerce on 26th July 2025 to Salgar
Foods Pvt. Ltd., located at Gokul Shirgaon MIDC, Kolhapur. The primary aim of this visit
was to provide students with practical exposure to the functioning of the food manufacturing
industry and enhance their understanding of industrial processes. There were 24 students
present for the visit.

2. Objectives of the Visit:


• To understand the manufacturing as well as packaging process of food products.
• To study the business operations and management practices followed in the industry.
• To observe the application of theoretical knowledge in real-world scenarios.
• To explore opportunities and challenges in the food processing sector.

food and beverage company headquartered in Kolhapur, Maharashtra. Located at Plot No.
G-134, Gokul Shirgaon MIDC, Kolhapur – 416234, the company delivers an authentic
Maharashtrian tea experience that blends tradition with modern entrepreneurial vision.

Founded in 2018 by entrepreneur Dadu Salgar, Salgar began with the goal of offering “fresh
and exquisitely flavoured tea” and has evolved into one of India's rapidly growing tea franchise
networks. The brand emphasizes quality, taste consistency, and cultural authenticity.

4. Key Learnings:

• The students were taken through different departments such as production, packaging,
quality control, and logistics.
• Detailed explanations were given about raw material procurement, machinery usage,
quality checks, and safety standards.
• Students interacted with the production supervisors and management team, gaining
insights into workforce management and supply chain strategies.
• The importance of marketing, branding, and product distribution was also
highlighted during the discussion session.

5. Outcome of the Visit:

• The visit bridged the gap between theoretical knowledge and industrial practices.
• Students developed a clearer understanding of how commerce and management
principles are applied in a real-life setting.
• It also motivated students to explore entrepreneurship and job opportunities in the
manufacturing sector.

6. Conclusion:

The study visit to Salgar Foods Pvt. Ltd. was highly informative and enriching. It successfully
fulfilled its objective of imparting practical knowledge and exposing students to the dynamics
of an industrial unit. The Department of Commerce extends its gratitude to the company for
their hospitality and valuable guidance. For this visit Ic HoD Dr. Bhagyashree Patil, all the
faculty members of commerce Department Ms. Jyoti Tarode, Ms. Pooja Khopkar, Ms. Nikita
Urunkar, and Mr. Mahesh Dange were presented.
