This book, a reflection on Herman Hertzberger's legacy, spanning from 1959 to today, is as much
about making architecture as it is about world-making. The Dutch architect never considered his
works as stand-alone objects, but rather as parts of webs of connections on different scales. In
this collection of texts, photographs, drawings, his own work, and architecture and art by others,
all of these layers come together to form a universe of inspirations, ideas, and solutions - in
Hertzberger's words, his 'musee imaginaire'. Edited by Suzanne Mulder and Hans Ibelings, the
book is written and compiled by Hertzberger himself and features an essay by Thomas
Hertzberger.

The magazine presents the work of Harquitectes, the Spanish architectural firm founded in 2000
by David Lorente, Josep Ricart, Xavier Ros, and Roger Tudo. In addition to showcasing their
most significant projects and works completed since 2021, the monographic issue includes a
conversation with Harquitectes conducted by Cristina Diaz Moreno and Efren Garcia Grinda, plus
an essay by architect Jesus Vassallo. Highlighted projects include the new Barcelona offices for
pharmaceutical company Galenicum, social housing in Gava and Palma, libraries in Quart and
Terrassa, the Montjuic Fairground in Barcelona, the extension of the MACBA, and several private
homes.

Since Russia's invasion of Ukraine, the European Union's eastern borders have been
dramatically reshaped. Fences, surveillance systems, guard towers, and anti-tank barriers have
turned once-abstract lines into physical, militarised landscapes. Latvia is no exception.
Construction is ongoing, but the area is already transformed, and new regulations restrict access.
This collection of postcards features photographs by Reinis Hofmanis from the "Borderland" - a
two-kilometre-wide strip along Latvia's eastern border. More than just a buffer zone, this area is
also home to villages, research facilities, and newly built military infrastructure. A glimpse at life
on the edge of Europe.

'Angelo Mangiarotti / Giorgio Casali. Framing the Project' explores Mangiarotti's work through
Giorgio Casali's photography, placing it in dialogue with the contemporary world. The book
focuses on two key elements: Casali's rich photographic archive - an essential visual record of
20th-century architecture and design - and a series of interviews with designers, architects,
photographers, and scholars who either knew Mangiarotti or consider him a major influence.
Contributors include Fulvio Irace, Paolo Ulian, Franz Graf, Martino Gamper, Konstantin Grcic,
Giulio Iacchetti, and Fumihiko Maki. Casali's images offer both revealing insights into
Mangiarotti's cultural references and unexpected glimpses into the contexts of their
collaborations. The volume also features a previously unpublished interview with Mangiarotti and
critical essays by Beppe Finessi and Angelo Maggi.

The third volume in the Bau Kunst series, 'Fake Designs of Japanese Architecture' turns the
research focus inward to Japan and investigates pre-modern wooden architecture. The study
questions the apparent harmony of structure and space in medieval Japanese buildings,
suggesting that it may in fact be a carefully constructed illusion - a layered relationship between
structure and appearance. The book begins with a reprint of writings on Japanese architecture
from international sources, followed by an exploration of medieval temples researched for this
project, and concludes with essays - including a roundtable discussion with architectural historian
Wataru Mitsui.

Featuring around 380 projects, this special issue introduces Nikken Sekkei in an encyclopaedic
format - an effort to explore the long-standing Japanese firm's own design strategies. Here, they
focus on gathering unique ideas and unformed architectural concepts from each individual
affiliate or group. These ideas are collected and categorised as Nikken Design Goals (NDG). The
featured projects reflect the firm's commitment to addressing societal challenges through
architecture, while also revealing its current limitations. In short, it represents Nikken Sekkei's
approach to broad design, where all members - not just those in architectural design - engage in
creative practice.

The Mexican collective C733 uses constructive clarity to create community. The "C" in their name
stands for Cosmos, while the following digits stand as counterparts for Logical, Efficient, and
Economical, as any public architecture should strive to be. The collective's way of working leads
to the dissolution of authorship, whereby architecture is turned into a profession of service,
subordinated to the rational use of resources and the well-being of the community. This issue of
'AV Monographs' features sixteen exemplary and highly varied projects completed by C733 in
Mexico, revealing both their communion with nature and organic bond with the community
context.

Artisanal production in Cairo takes place in open-air workshops and directly on the street. Stucco
producers in the city are grouped into clusters where interior walls and facades are covered with
patterns and serve as a catalogue of ornaments. The result is often chaotic and grotesque.
Decorative styles of the Belle Epoque are deconstructed and reassembled as a spatial collage,
while symbols from pop culture are juxtaposed with historical forms. In his photos, Luc Merx
reveals these unique aesthetics and diverse references to building practice and art history. The
plaster casts reflect Egypt's contradictory relationship to its colonial past, to modernity, and to the
country's own identity.

Cooking and architecture have a lot in common. Both start with a set of ingredients that are
combined to create a whole - one that is often greater than the sum of its parts. Conceived as a
publication for this year's National Pavilion UAE at La Biennale di Venezia 2025, this architectural
cookbook features recipes that range from the technical to the fictional to the historic. It
showcases a multitude of responses to a curated selection of key ingredients, providing creative,
flavourful, and accessible ways to reflect on food production in a harsh desert climate such as the
UAE's.

Portuguese architect Camilo Rebelo's 'AKIK' focuses on communicating the author's ideas and
built work, hinting at the relationships between the images which represent the built or proposed
architecture and the author's logic, intuition, and poetics for its spaces. The book combines
textual explanations of each project alongside a visual representation. The type and diversity of
those representations expresses Rebelo's design process and architectural results. Featuring
dozens of projects, the collection makes clear that the architect relies heavily on intuition, while in
the process also exploring diverse design tools and approaches in his work.
