Question # 3: Spreadsheet Basics (30 Marks)

Instructions:
Step 1: Enter data
o Open Microsoft Excel
o Create a new spreadsheet and name it "Sales Data"
o Add the following columns:
 Product Name
 Unit Sold
 Unit price
 Revenue
 Discount
 Final Amount
o Enter sample data for at least 8 products, with at least 2 products in each category.
o Save the file as sales_data_regid.xlsx.
Step 2: Apply Formula and Formatting
o Revenue = Unit Sold * Unit Price
o Final Amount = Revenue – (Revenue * Discount %)
o Format Revenue and Final Amount as currency
o Apply conditional formatting to:
 Highlight rows where units sold > 100 (green fill)
 Highlight rows where discount > 20% (red fil
o Perform the following:
 Center-align the column name.
 Apply bold formatting to all column headers.
 Merge the first row to create a title: "Sales Data" and apply a colored fill.
Step 3: Sorting and Custom
o Sort the data by Final Amount in descending order.
o Add a new column labeled Tax (10%) using relative references.
o Create a Net Amount coloum and fill in data as

Use relative references to calculate tax for all rows.
Step 4: Visualizations
o Insert a column Pie Chart for Product vs Revenue
Step 5: Pivot Table and Slicer
o Insert a pivot table from your dataset on a new sheet

 Show total revenue and total Fianl Amount in Values
o Add a slicer for category to filter between different categories

Instructions:
You are working as a data analyst at a retail analytics firm. Your manager wants you to load external sales
data, clean it, perform transformations, analyze trends, and present a clear visual and summarized report.

Step 2: Clean and Transform Data
Load the data and transform the data according to the following
o Any empty rows or irrelevant columns
o Duplicate records if any
o Apply consistent formatting to all columns
Create new calculated columns:
o BMI = Weight (kg) / (Height (m))² (ensure correct unit conversion if height is in inches and
weight is in pounds)
o Category using IF formula:
 BMI < 18.5 → "Underweight"
 18.5 ≤ BMI < 25 → "Normal"
 25 ≤ BMI < 30 → "Overweight"
 BMI ≥ 30 → "Obese"
Step 3: Visualize the Data
Create the following charts on a new sheet called Charts:
o A Histogram or Column Chart showing the distribution of BMI Categories
o A Scatter Plot of Height vs. Weight
o A Pie Chart for percentage share of each BMI Category
Add:
 Data labels
 Axis titles
 Chart title for each chart
 Legend (where applicable)

Step 4: Summary with Pivot Table


Create a sheet called Summary_Analysis.
Insert a Pivot Table to show:

 Values:

Insert a Slicer for BMI Category.
Apply filters to interactively explore the results.
