Bahasa Indonesia Placement Test

1. Basic Conversation (Oral)

✅ Ask these questions and note their response quality:

 "Siapa nama Anda?" (What is your name?)

 "Dari mana asal Anda?" (Where are you from?)

 "Apakah Anda sudah pernah ke Indonesia?" (Have you been to Indonesia before?)

 "Apa makanan Indonesia favorit Anda?" (What is your favorite Indonesian food?)

📌 Assessment:

 Beginner → Answers with single words or very simple sentences.

 Intermediate → Answers in complete sentences but with grammar mistakes.

 Advanced → Answers fluently with correct grammar and vocabulary.

2. Listening Comprehension

🎧 Read this short paragraph aloud:


"Hari ini cuaca cerah. Matahari bersinar dan angin bertiup sepoi-sepoi. Banyak orang berjalan-jalan
di taman sambil menikmati udara segar."

➡️Ask the student:

1. "Bagaimana cuaca hari ini?" (How is the weather today?)

2. "Apa yang dilakukan orang-orang di taman?" (What are people doing in the park?)

📌 Assessment:

 Beginner → Struggles to understand.

 Intermediate → Understands the general idea but misses details.

 Advanced → Understands everything and answers fluently.

3. Reading Comprehension

📖 Send this text to your student to read:


"Nama saya Dita. Saya tinggal di Jakarta. Setiap pagi saya bangun jam 6 dan pergi ke kantor jam 8.
Saya suka membaca buku di waktu luang saya."

➡️Ask them:

1. "Di mana Dita tinggal?" (Where does Dita live?)

2. "Apa yang dilakukan Dita di waktu luangnya?" (What does Dita do in her free time?)
📌 Assessment:

 Beginner → Reads slowly and struggles with meaning.

 Intermediate → Reads well but needs help with some words.

 Advanced → Reads fluently and understands everything.

4. Grammar Check

📝 Ask the student to correct these sentences:

1. "Saya pergi pasar kemarin." (Correct: "Saya pergi ke pasar kemarin.")

2. "Dia suka makan nasi goreng dan minum kopi hitam." (Correct as is.)

3. "Kami ke bioskop nanti malam?" (Correct: "Kami akan ke bioskop nanti malam.")

📌 Assessment:

 Beginner → Cannot correct sentences.

 Intermediate → Corrects some but makes mistakes.

 Advanced → Corrects all with confidence.

5. Writing Task

✍️Ask the student to write 3-5 sentences about themselves in Bahasa Indonesia.
Examples:

📌 Assessment:

 Beginner → Uses basic words, with grammar errors.

 Intermediate → Writes complete sentences but with minor mistakes.

 Advanced → Writes fluently with correct grammar.

Final Assessment Levels

🔹 Beginner (A1-A2) → Struggles with basic conversation, needs a lot of help.


🔹 Intermediate (B1-B2) → Can communicate but with some errors.
🔹 Advanced (C1-C2) → Speaks and writes fluently with minimal mistakes.
