1. This paper consists of sections A, B and C with a total of eleven (11) questions.
2. Answer all questions in sections A and B and only two (2) questions from
section C.
3. Section A carries sixteen (16) marks, section B fifty four (54) marks and section
C carries thirty (30) marks.
4. All writing must be in black or blue ink.
5. Communication devices and any unauthorized materials are not allowed in the
examination room.

Africa my Africa
Africa of proud warriors in the ancestral savannahs

On the banks of the distant river
I have never known you
But your blood flows in my veins
Your beautiful black blood that irrigates the fields
The blood of your sweat

11. “The state of underdevelopment in most African societies is caused by Ignorance and lack of
awareness among the members of the society.” How far this statement is true by referring to
Soyinka’s “The Lion and The Jewel and The Trials of Brother Jero.” Give three (03) points from
each play.
