Introduction
Thank you for choosing SHINX 20ZXG series CNC router. This manual is a user's guide book
for proper use of the machine, and surely is helpful not only for beginners but also for users
who have been using the machine to reconfirm their knowledge for operation of the machine.
It is essential to carefully read and well understand the contents of description in this manual
before starting operation of the machine. It is recommended to place this manual by the
machine as friendly assistance for any help in your daily job.
And it is possible that the description in this manual does not exactly correspond in detail to the
machine that you purchased due to our constant R & D. If there is any information you may
require on the machine or the description in this manual, do not hesitate to contact your local
dealer or SHINX.
If the manual is misplaced or broken, please request a new one to your dealer. And in the
event that the machine is transferred to a third person, be sure to put this manual to the
machine for the next owner.

1. General Information
1-1. ID plate
The machine has an ID plate which contains Machine Number and Product Date. When you
contact your dealer on your machine, please provide them with the information on ID plate.
1-2. Machine Service
All of the normal operations required for adjustment and service the machine are described in
this manual. Never try to make any repair or service that are not described in this manual.
When you need to remove any parts from your machine, contact any qualified technician who
is authorized by the local dealer or SHINX. Only personnel who is trained by your local dealer
or SHINX and fully understand how the machine operates has the skills to perform any
technical services correctly.
1-3. Safety precautions
No special qualification is necessary for operation of the machine. However, it is quite
important to pay proper attention when operating the machine. If improperly used, it can
cause serious accident. In order to avoid any possible accident, it is essential to observe the
followings.
Clothes
* In order to avoid being caught by the machine, fasten your cuffs securely around
your wrists and put proper tight work-clothes. Never put a tie and an apron.
* Put gloves when handling panels and tools.
* Put strong work-shoes which properly fit your feet and has anti-slippery sole.
* Always keep hair up and put work-cap.
* Put goggles to protect eyes.
Work environment
* The work area must be adequately free of obstacles to prevent operator
from stumbling.
* The work area must be always kept clean to prevent operator from slipping.
When water or oil is spilt on the floor, it must be completely removed
immediately.
* The machine must be placed on the firm leveled flat floor.
Mechanical components
* Never try to perform any modification on the machine. If necessary, contact
your dealer. We do not bear responsibility for any modification without
permission.

Tools
* Always check for the tools before operation.
Never use dull, warped, or cracked tools.
* Never use tools out of the size specified.
* Usage of large, heavy, or long tool can cause problem.
* Always pay attention to spindle rpm, cutting feed rate, cut depth, etc for your
application.
Materials
* Rotten, cracked, warped, uneven materials can cause problem during operation.
These materials are not recommended to be used.
* Make sure that the materials do not include nails, stapes, tiny rocks, and so on.
They can break the tools and it may cause serious problem.
Safety devices
* Check whether the safety devices work properly before operation every day.
At starting operation
* Make sure that nobody is around the machine before starting operation.
* Wood chips or service tools left on the table may cause unexpected problem.
Make sure that there is nothing left on the table before starting operation.
* Make sure that the tools are securely fixed to the spindle and can be turn by hand.
* Make sure that the correct program is selected.
* Make sure that the materials are securely fixed on the table by vacuum or
mechanical clamps.
* Make sure that all of servo axes can move smoothly to both (+) and (-) direction
by manual mode operation.
During operation
* Never reach out hand for the rotating tools.
* When unloading materials or removing wood chips, make sure that the spindle
heads are completely away form the working area and the program is completely
stop.
* When leaving the working position, be sure to turn OFF the power switch and
make sure that the machine completely stop in order to prevent operator or others
from accident.
* When the machine is stopped by failure of electricity, turn OFF the power switch
immediately. For restart of the machine, make sure that the power is supplied
to the machine.
* Wear always goggles to protect eyes.

At ending operation
* To stop the operation of the machine, make sure that the program completes and
shut the power switch OFF, then turn the main breaker OFF. Do not leave the
working position until the machine complete stops.
At cleaning
* When cleaning the machine, it is essential to arrange a person around the machine
or put a sign board states “CLEANING” on front of the machine for warning not to
let someone starts the machine.
* The power switch must be turned OFF and remove the power switch key for
cleaning
in order to prevent possible accident by sudden movement.
* Never use any flammable or toxic solvent to clean the machine.
* Wear goggles to protect eyes from dust.
At occurrence of some troubles
* When some trouble happens, press the E-STOP button immediately to stop
the machine. And turn OFF the main power switch to prevent the machine from
moving suddenly.
* When solving the trouble, it is essential to arrange a person around the
machine or put a sign board states “ADJUSTING” on front of the machine
for warning not to let someone starts the machine.

1-4. Warning labels
The machine has Warning Labels to avoid serious accident. Never remove these labels.
Also, keep the labels clean.

2. Installation o f the machine
2.1 Handling of the machine
! DANGER
The handling of the machine for installation must be done by qualified specialists
in operation of crane in order to avoid possible accident by fall of the machine.
(1). The machine is equipped with two hooks on both sides. Use a strong wire cable or
chain to lift the machine. Before lift the machine, make sure that the hooks are securely
tightened and not loose at all. Do not use another method.
(2). Remove any obstacles on the floor.
(3). Move the machine to the location slowly with pay much attention to the balance.

2-2. Placing of the machine
When the machine is placed in position, keep enough space around the machine so that the
operator can work conveniently and safely. The machine should be placed on a firm leveled
floor. The work area around the machine should also have adequate lightning.
2-3. Leveling of the machine
The machine leveling adjustment can be done with the leveling screws.
(1). Lift the machine and place the plates supplied with the machine underneath the machine
base.
! DANGER
Never place hand underneath the machine. To place the plates, use any material.
(2). Use a spirit level and adjust the leveling screws. Place the spirit level in both lengthwise
and crosswise. Once the machine is leveled, tighten the lock nut securely. It is
recommended to fix the machine on the floor using holes with anchor bolts.

2-4. Assembling of the machine
The machine is disassembled for transportation. Install the following parts when the machine
is installed.
- Side covers on moving gantry.
- Support arm for spindle head motor cable.
Any other parts can be removed for the transportation depending on the machine
specifications.
2-5. Removing stops
All of moving axes (X, Y, Z) and moving heads are fixed with stops on the THK slide rail for
transportation. Remove all of the stops before supplying the power to the machine.
* Be notice that the Stops for Z axis can be removed by manual operation after supplying
power. Go to Manual Mode in the Main Menu, and move up the Z axis slowly.
2-6. Electrical wiring
Caution :
The electrical wiring must be done by qualified electrician who is specialized in the
industrial wiring.
Make sure that the circuit breaker and the ground are properly work at your shop.
1. Use the power cable which is 3.5 mm2 or thicker. Connect the power cable to the
machine circuit breaker and terminal box on the vacuum pump.
* The machine circuit breaker is installed on the control box.
Check the rotating direction on the vacuum pump. The belt must rotate to the direction
of the arrow specified with the label.
2. Connect the ground wire to the ground terminal in the machine control box.

2-7. Air supply
1. The machine is equipped with an air regulator on front or back of the machine.
Connect an air tube from air compressor to the air regulator.
Air tube diameter : Bore 1/4 inch
2. Make sure that the proper compressed air is supplied to the machine as follows :
Air pressure : Between 0.6 Mpa and 0.9 Mpa
Air volume : 20 NL ore more
* The machine air pressure is properly set at factory before shipment.
Do not adjust the pressure as long as there is no instruction from dealer or
qualified person. Unnecessary adjustment can cause wrong operation.
* The pneumatic components which are used on this machine do not require oil.
However, be sure to remove moisture from the bowl of the regulator by pressing
the drain plug every time before starting the operation.
2-8. Dust collection
To use the machine properly, it is important to connect the machine to a dust collection
system. Make sure of the dust outlet size of your machine for connecting dust hose.

3. Start up of the machine
It is recommended to operate the machine by moving each axis and spindle heads first in the
Manual Mode in order to get used to the CNC machine.
Caution :
Be sure that the there is nobody or no obstacles around the machine, and all of the
spindles can be rotated by hand smoothly. Also, make sure that all of the Stops have
been removed from the machine.
3-1. Power supply
1). Turn the main power switch ON.
2). Turn the PC power switch ON. The Windows starts up, and ENC Main Menu
appears on the screen.

3-2. Manual Mode :
Select Manual Mode (F2). The following screen appears.
* The design of this window varies depending on the spindle head configuration.
1). Move XYZ axis :
1-1. Select FD RATE (-) button and set the feed rate at 1.0 m/min (40”/min.), and
make sure that Feed Amount is set to “Continue”.
1-2. Press X+ key on the keyboard, and the X axis moves to (+) direction.
Press X- key on the keyboard, and the X axis moves to (-) direction.
Move Y and Z axis and make sure that the machine moves to the correct
direction.
1-3. Next, increase the axis Feed Speed with using “FD RATE +” button. Click on this
button several times and increase the feed rate to 5 m/min. (196”/min.) You can
see the axis moves faster.

2). Operate Spindle Head :
1-1. Spindle head up/down : Click on the icon for Spindle UP. The spindle selected
goes up. Then click on the icon for Spindle Down. The spindle selected goes
down.
1-2. Spindle rotation : Click on the icon for Inverter ON, and then click on the icon
for the Spindle ON. As you keep clicking on the “SPN RPM +” button (F3), the
spindle rotation speed increases.
Caution :
Once again, make sure that the spindle can be rotated by hand smoothly before
running the spindle.
3). Operate Vacuum Pump :
Click on the icon for Vacuum ON, and the vacuum pump starts to run.
4). E-STOP button :
Press E-STOP button, and it is locked. You will have the message box on the screen
and any machine operation is not available. To reset the E-STOP button, turn it to
clockwise.
The Manual Mode screen of your machine can have any other icons which corresponds to
the spindle head configuration and other devices which can be controlled by M codes.
Now you learnt how the machine moves by the Manual Mode.
3-3. Shut off the machine :
To shut off the machine, follow the procedure below :
1). Close ENC by selecting “END” (F12) button and all of the other application.
2). When ENC ends, the computer is shut off automatically. But if not, shut off the
computer from Start as the ending procedure of windows.
3). Turn off the breaker of the machine.
4). Then turn off the main breaker of your shop.

3-4. Zero Return (Machine Calibration) :
To operate the machine in Auto mode with executing program, it is necessary to calibrate
the machine first. Click on “ZRN (Zero Return)” button, and the message box appears.
Then, select “Execute” button, and the all of the axis return to zero point for each axis.
It is necessary to execute Zero Return operation every time when the power is supplied
to the machine, and when the machine is stopped with the E-STOP button.

4. Installation of Tools
Caution :
1). The power must be turned OFF.
2). Put gloves.
4-1. Router Head (ATC spindle) :
1). The machine has the tool holder socket on the back so that you can lock the tool holder
for changing the bit. Please the BT-30 tool holder in the socket upside down.
2). Insert a collet in a Lock Nut. The thrust ring inside of the Lock Nut has a notch
It is important to push the collet into the thrust ring so that it securely fit in the notch.
3). Put the lock nut with collet into the BT-30 tool holder.
4). Insert a bit into the collet and lock the Lock Nut securely with the hand forth of
approximately 10 – 20 kgf using a wrench supplied as accessory. Also, make sure that
the retention nut is securely locked.
5). Hold the tool holder and press RELEASE button. The air cylinder works and
push the tool holder into the spindle and release the button. Remove the dust brush
when necessary.
6). Rotate the tool holder by hand and make sure that it rotates smoothly.
* Caution : Do not lock the tool with too much force.

4-2. Saw Head :
1). Remove the dust brush from the saw head.
2). Remove the dust from saw blade and flange.
3). Insert an allen wrench in the end of spindle and loose the lock nut with a wrench.
Then remove the nut and flange.
4). Insert a saw blade to the spindle with attention to the rotation direction, and put
the flange, then screw the lock nut by hand. Tighten the lock nut using the wrenches
with the force of approximately 10 or 20 kgf/cm2.
Caution : Do not apply too much force.
5). Put the dust brush back onto the saw head.
4-3. Multi Boring Unit :
1). Insert drills into the spindles using two wrenches. Hook the wrenches to the flat
portion of the spindle end and drill bit.
2). Make sure that the drills are securely locked.

5. Maintenance
CAUTION :
Be sure to shut the machine power off at both power switch on the control console and
main circuit breaker before starting maintenance.
5-1. Cleaning
In order to use the machine for a long period under good condition, it is important to
keep the machine clean.
- The machine and its periphery must be always clean.
- Clean the guide ways with hard bristles.
- Use strong jet air from compressor to the portion where it is difficult to clean.
5-2. Lubrication
The periodical lubrication to the ball screws and THK slide rails make the machine
life longer.
1). Ball screws and THK slide rail (Linear Motion Guide)
For the axes precise movement, the ball screws and LM guide are used. Insert
grease from grease zerks located on each axis using grease pump. See attached
drawings for the location of grease zerks.
The grease zerks can be put to other location where it is easier to lubricate.
It is not possible to lubricate to the ball screw nut which rotates. If there is grease
zerks around the nut, use the grease zerk. But if not, apply grease to the ball screw
by hand directly.
2). Spindle
For the router spindle, it is very important to use the specific grease from grease
zerks on the spindle head using grease pump.
(Read the instruction of the label which is stuck on the router head carefully.)
Caution : The grease for the router spindle must be KLÜBER NBU-15.

3). Spindle head Up/Down
In case that the LM guide is used for the spindle head up/down motion by air cylinder,
lubricate the LM guide from the grease zerks using grease pump. If it is difficult to
lubricate with the grease pump, apply grease to the LM guide by hand directly.
