Section D: Unseen Passage – Inference and Analysis
Wild animals are an important part of nature. They live in forests, oceans, deserts, and even the skies.
Each animal plays a role in keeping the environment balanced. For example, bees help flowers grow by
spreading pollen, while wolves keep the number of deer from growing too high.
Sadly, many wild animals are in danger today. Their homes are being destroyed by human activities such
as cutting down trees, building cities, and polluting water. Some animals, like tigers and elephants, are
hunted for their body parts. Others lose their homes and food because of climate change.
People around the world are now working to protect wildlife. National parks, rescue centers, and laws
against hunting help keep animals safe. Even small actions, like planting trees or saving water, can make a
big difference.
Wildlife may not speak our language, but their survival depends on our choices.
After reading, answer:
a. What is the main idea of the passage?
b. What is the author’s purpose – to inform, entertain, or persuade? Explain.
c. What is something the author implies but does not directly state?
d. Do you agree with the point of view presented? Why or why not?
