• Complements the EADS TETRA terminal portfolio by providing DMO Gateway and Repeater
functionality

• Designed for special circumstances, extending radio coverage on the edge of TETRA network and

• Navigation keys: For scrolling or text editing


• Alphanumeric keys: To enter alphanumeric characters for
dialing, address book entries and text messages. Can be
Led programmed as a ”one-touch button” (e.g. to enter DMO,
Gateway or repeater mode)
• Led: indicates the states of terminal:
– Solid GREEN: Transmitting
– Blinking GREEN: In service
– Solid RED: Out of service / Disabled
– Blinking RED: Connecting to a network
– Solid ORANGE: TX inhibit activated
– Blinking ORANGE: Incoming call
– No indication: Switched off

Gateway concept

• Provides connectivity between Direct mode operation and TETRA network


• Gateway enhances coverage inside buildings and on the edge of TETRA network

Entering to Gateway mode

• When your TGR990 is in TMO:


– from the home display press Optns and select Gateway Mode
– press the Menu button and select More...> Networks > Gateway Mode
– you can define that one of the Alphanumeric key is a short cut to Gateway mode

When display shows Gateway Monitor, terminal checks if the


communication goes through other gateway or not:
– when it does not pick up other gateway communication, Gateway Mode is activated
– when it detects other gateway communication during monitoring, Gateway Detected is
displayed. Terminal goes to Temporary DMO mode.

Terminal checks other gateway communication all the time. If other


gateway communication disappears, terminal returns to Gateway
Monitor Mode

Communication through TGR990 Gateway

• The Gateway enables the following between TMO and DMO:


– Individual calls
– Group calls
– Emergency call
– Status messages
– Text messages

• Gateway Presence signalling to DMO to inform terminals about gateway device

Repeater concept

• Repeater is used in DMO to extend coverage


• May be needed:
– in remote locations beyond TMO coverage
– in extreme conditions where network is not available
– inside buildings, tunnels and basements, where walls may reduce the DMO range

Radio specific set of pin codes are supplied with each radio, that allows customer to enable
each radio with its applicable functionality.

1. Turn off the radio


2. Press and hold green ”call key” and ”up” navigation key
3. Press Power on
4. Select the feature from the list and enter the feature pin code
5. Select the next feature
6. Turn off the radio
