PRAYER FOR EVERY DAY.

Heavenly Father! Most loving Father! who, to save souls, wanted that
your only Son, becoming man, would subject Himself to the poorest life and
mortified and shed his blood on the cross for our love! How would you leave
to suffer for a long time in purgatory for souls that cost Jesus Christ so much and
What are your beloved daughters? How would you allow noble blood to be wasted?
of such great value? Have compassion, then, for these poor souls and deliver them from their
pains and torments. Have compassion for mine as well and deliver her from the slavery of the
vice. And if your justice demands satisfaction for the sins committed, I offer you
for the good works I do in this novena. Oh, of no value, it is in
truth; but I unite them with the infinite merits of your divine Son, with the pains
of her Most Holy Mother and with the heroic virtues of all those who have existed in the
earth. Look at us all, living and dead, with eyes of compassion and make us
let us celebrate a day your mercies in the eternal rest of glory.
Amen.
FIRST DAY

Many are the sorrows that the blessed souls of Purgatory suffer, but the greatest
of them consists in thinking that for the sins they committed in life they have been
they themselves are the cause of their own suffering.

Oh Jesus, my Savior! I who have deserved hell so many times, how much
I would not experience sorrow now, if I found myself condemned to think that I myself
had been the cause of my condemnation? I thank you for the patience that
with me you have had, give me grace to stay away from the occasions of offending you
and have mercy on the souls who suffer in that fire because of me.
And you, O Mary, Mother of God! assist them with your powerful prayers.

OUR FATHER, HAIL MARY AND GLORY.

Here, each person will strive in their devotion, asking internally of the crucified Christ the
What do you wish to achieve through this novena for the suffrage of the souls of the
Purgatory.
This will be repeated every day after the day's prayer.

THEY ARE PRAYED AFTER THE CONSIDERATION OF EACH

One of the days.

Hear, pious mortals,

and help us reach:

May God relieve us from sorrows.

and lead us to rest.

Oh you, -walkers,

Suspended, listen, stop,

It will be enough just to hear us

move your compassion!

Today asks for our affliction

That you want to cooperate:

May God save us from sorrows

and let us rest.

There is no pain, torment, sorrow,

martyrdom, cross nor affliction,
that they become painting
from our lesser passion;
only alleviates our ills
to wait for your love:

May God deliver us from sorrow

and take us to rest.

Here I am in purgatory
of fire lying in bed,
being my greatest torment
the absence of a beloved God,
I suffer without deserving,
for me it is not enough to reach:

May God deliver us from sorrows

and lead us to rest.

Oh woe is me, oh severe God,

the voracious flame, active,
and well-deserved fire,
oh consciousness, always alive,
oh justice, that does not cease,
Oh, when will it end!

May God free us from sorrows

and take us to rest.

Oh guilt, what you cost me,

I never imagined your fierceness,
well, I pay with such torment
what I judged to be lightness!
Heavens, mercy, enough, heavens!
When will the day come?

May God take us out of sorrows

and take us to rest.

Parents, siblings, friends:

Where is charity?
Do you favor a stranger?
And for me, there is no mercy?
Hey, come on, a donation,
at least let it be the begging!

May God deliver us from sorrows

and lead us to rest.

Ungrateful son, who strolls

richly dressed,
at the cost of my sweat
you rest in such oblivion:
look at your father burning,
and you can fix it!

May God deliver us from sorrow

and take us to rest.

Perhaps it would be arbitrary in you,

no obligation of justice;
well, you do not fulfill the will,
here I am for your malice;
open your eyes, wake up,
pay, making it accelerate:

May God relieve us of our sorrows

and lead us to rest.

Brothers in Jesus Christ,

those who hear these sighs,
if you want, you can take us out
from these gloomy retreats,
to the Virgin and to the saints
the requests want to mediate:

May God free us from sorrows

and take us to rest.

From Gethsemane in the Garden

the Redeemer shed blood,
contemplating these sorrows
the great torment and rigor
to the Eternal Father is offered,
not ceasing there to pray:

May God deliver us from sorrows

and lead us to rest.

In view of such mercy,

do not forget, oh mortal,
from this small cemetery,
hospital cemetery
follow, then, the brotherhood
how tender it makes you cry out:

May God deliver us from sorrows

and let us rest.

Attend and see, Christian,

that here in this cemetery
maybe your parents and relatives
they expect the remedy from you;
sacrifices and offerings
they plead with you endlessly:

May God deliver us from sorrows

and take us to rest.

Faithful Christians, friends,

give credit to these laments,
Well treated, no blame,
to flee from these torments.
Help, mercy, relief!
we conclude by shouting.
Hear ye, pious mortals
and help us to achieve:

May God free us from sorrows

and lead us to rest.

FINAL SENTENCE
SENTENCE 1

Receive, Lord my God, how many sacrifices have been offered to you and are being offered today for all the
world your holy spouse, the holy Church, and I beg you to apply them to relief and
rest for the afflicted souls for whom I make this novena. For the collections
pains of your Most Holy Mother on the day of your sorrowful Passion, grant them,
Lord, refreshment. Convert the sinners, save the dying and me.
grant me sanctification in my state and the particular grace that I ask of you, if it is of
your approval. Amen

SENTENCE 2

Shorten, oh kind Father! the anguish suffered by the beloved souls in the
Purgatory. Do not prolong, Lord, the duration of their sufferings, the blood of Calvary
satisfy your Justice and deign to admit her into your Holy Glory, where we may see each other
all, and we may extol your eternal mercies. Amen.

SECOND DAY
The second punishment that deeply afflicts these blessed souls is the time that
in life they lost, during which they could have acquired greater merits for the
sky, and the thought that this loss is forever irreparable ending
with life the time to deserve.

Wretched me, oh Lord, who for so many years have lived on the earth not
deserving only the punishments of hell!

I thank you because you still grant me time to remedy the harm that I have
what I have done and the good I have failed to do.

Grant me your help so that what remains of my life, I may employ.

only in serving you and in loving you. Have mercy on me and on those blessed souls
who burn in Purgatory for not having used the time that You properly.
you gave them for their sanctification.

And you, oh Mary, Mother of God! assist them with your powerful prayers.

OUR FATHER, HAIL MARY AND GLORY. Everything else from the first day.
THIRD DAY
Another of the greatest torments that afflict those blessed souls is the terrifying sight.
of the sins they are atoning for. In the present life, the ugliness of
sin, but it is well known in the other, and this knowledge is one of the most
living pains that the souls suffer in Purgatory.

Oh my God!, I love you above all things because you are infinite goodness; it pains me
with all my heart for having offended you; grant me holy perseverance;
have mercy on me and on those holy souls tormented by the sight of the
sins what no they wanted avoid y they committed sin horror.
And you, Oh Mary, Mother of God! Aid them with your powerful prayers and
Pray also for us who are still in danger of condemning ourselves.

OUR FATHER, HAIL MARY AND GLORY. Everything else from the first day.

FOURTH DAY
One of the pains that afflict those souls, brides of Jesus Christ, is the
to think that in life, because of their sins, they displeased that God whom they love so much.
Penitents have been seen dying of pain at the thought that they had offended such a God.
Well. Much better than us, the souls in Purgatory know how kind it is.
God and therefore they love him with all their strength; for this reason, upon thinking that
They were disgusted in life, experiencing a pain greater than any other pain.
Oh my God! And I offend you with such ease, without it moving me much.
what you have done for me, nor the sorrows that await me in Purgatory; have
pity me and those holy souls who burn in that fire for the contempt
What they did with the venial sins and now they love you with all their hearts.
And you, oh Mary, protect us so that we may achieve a perfect life.
and help them to relieve their pains.

OUR FATHER, HAIL MARY, AND GLORY. Everything else from the first day.

FIFTH DAY
Another of the great sorrows that afflict those blessed souls is to suffer that
fire without knowing when their torments will end. It is true that they have the
certainty of seeing one day free from them; but the uncertainty of the time in which
they will have to end, it causes them severe torment.

Oh, Lord, what a great misfortune it would be for me if you had sent me to
hell, that prison of torment, with the certainty of never leaving it!
I thank you for being with me; forgive me, I would rather die than return to
offenders. Have mercy on me and on the blessed souls that have not been on earth.
I have greatly feared the pains of Purgatory. And You, oh Mother of God and my Mother,
help them with your power and shorten the time they await for eternity
possession of God.

OUR FATHER, HAIL MARY AND GLORY. Everything else from the first day.
SIXTH DAY
How much greater is the comfort that those blessed souls feel from the memory of
the Passion of Jesus Christ, by which they were saved, and of the Most Holy Sacrament of
Altar, which provided them and still provides them with so many graces, through masses.
and communions torment them all the more with the thought of not having reciprocated
in life to these two great benefits of the love of Jesus Christ.

Oh my God! You died for me too, and you have given yourself to me many times in
the sacred communion, and I have always repaid you with black ingratitude; more
now I love you above all things, oh Supreme Good of mine! I regret very much for
I ask for your forgiveness for having offended you, and with your grace, I propose the amendment.
Give it to me, Lord, and have mercy on me and on the souls that burn in the fire of
Purgatory for the little esteem they had for your painful passion and for the
communions omitted due to negligence, or made with lukewarmness.

And you, oh Mary, Mother of God and our Mother, intercede for them so that
obtain forgiveness.

OUR FATHER, HAIL MARY, AND GLORY. Everything else from the first day.

SEVENTH DAY

The punishments of those blessed souls also increase with all the benefits.
particulars that were received from God, such as having received baptism, having
born in a Catholic country, having waited for God for penance and to attain forgiveness
of their sins so many times; because all those favors make them better understand the
ingratitude with which they have responded to God.

But, my God! Who has been more ungrateful than I? You have awaited me with
so much patience, you have forgiven me so many times with love, and I, after
so many promises, I have offended you again. Do not throw me into hell because you
I want to love and in hell I could not do so. Have mercy on my soul and pity.
of those in Purgatory, who due to their many sins have become less deserving of
your mercy.
And you, oh Mother of mercy, mitigate their suffering with your power.

OUR FATHER, HAIL MARY AND GLORY. Everything else from the first day.

EIGHTH DAY

Another sorrow, extremely bitter for those blessed souls, is the thought that
During her life, God used many special mercies with her that he did not have.
with the others, and they with their sins forced him to condemn them to hell,
although later out of his mercy he has forgiven and saved them, seeing them
regretful.
Lead me here, oh my God! I am one of those ungrateful ones who after having
received from You so many thanks, I have despised your love and forced you to
to condemn me to hell. I thank you for the mercy and patience that you have given.
I regret having offended you with all my soul, and
I propose the amendment with your grace. Have mercy on me and on those.
blessed souls that having been able to reach a high degree of perfection in the
earth, they now deserve to spend more time in Purgatory for their continuous
infidelities to the calls to your grace.

And you, most faithful Virgin, intercede with your merits in his favor.

OUR FATHER, HAIL MARY AND GLORY. Everything else from the first day.

Ninth Day

Great are the sorrows that those holy souls suffer: the fire, the tedium, the
darkness, the uncertainty of the time when they will be free from that prison;
but above all, the greatest for those holy wives is to see themselves separated from their
divine Spouse and deprived of His sight and presence.

Oh my God! How could I have lived so many years away from You, deprived of
your grace? Oh Infinite Goodness! I love you above all things, I repent
with all my heart for having offended you and I would rather die than return to
offenders.
Grant me holy perseverance and do not allow me to fall again into
your misfortune. I beg you to have mercy on the souls in Purgatory,
especially those of my parents, my siblings, my relatives, my friends... and of
all those for whom my heart and my conscience compel me to ask you with
more effort; that it is not because of my indifference or my faults that they
let them remain there, away from You. Shorten the time of their exile and accept them.
as soon as possible to the joy of loving you forever in heaven.

And you, oh sweet Virgin Mary, consoler of the afflicted, Mother of our
Salvador Jesus and of all the faithful. You are also the Mother of the poor souls.
, those who suffer in Purgatory, I implore with confidence the immense goodness of
your Heart and I ask you to intercede with your divine Son, so that through the
merits of his holy sacrifice on the cross, may they obtain the relief and freedom to which
aspire. So be it.

OUR FATHER, HAIL MARY, AND GLORY. Everything else from the first day.
Grant them, Lord, eternal rest.
and may the perpetual light shine upon them.
