THE THREE LEVELS OF PSYCHIC LIFE
The tendency to self-realization implies in man the existence of
potentialities and specific functions. In fact, we discovered that
some contents are related to sensitive data, while others,
transcending the determinations of material process, involve activities
superior and even spiritual. On the other hand, we find in our ideas
more general and abstract elements and clear traces of sensitive knowledge,
without being able to justify a simple reduction of intellectual knowledge to
sensible, but rather implies an interconnection at various levels.
From this observation of experience, we can deduce that man can live at
three diverse levels, in which each concrete psychic act reveals different
generous elements, each with its own and irreducible properties, with the
implication of various functions and in obedience to irreducible laws, these
levels are: psycho-physiological, psycho-social, rational-spiritual. In adulthood, the
the individual should distinguish the intellectual and cognitive behaviors of the
social and moral affectives although our life is a set of these three
fundamental realities that are linked to each other giving rise to everything
complexity of life. No one lives in a world solely of knowledge or of
socialization; it is evident that, in each person even understanding the three
dimensions, favors some, because they are connected to each other and are recognizable in
the human act, in which normally one prevails over the others.
Psychophysiological level
This level encompasses the psychic activities linked to physical states of
well-being or discomfort determined by the satisfaction or dissatisfaction of some
fundamental physiological needs of the organism such as hunger, thirst, the
sound, survival and health. At this level, it develops and is perfected
First of all, the organism that from the initial moments possesses regulation.

This activity has its origin and ended in the feeling of deficit or satisfaction.
visceral level, but it can provoke and require responses and reactions in the faculties
mental, as an effort to satisfy their needs through products that
protect health, safety, and comfort.
Therefore, the movement is directed toward the search for the satisfactory object. Reality is
viewed in terms of one's own physiological demand, which has as an end a need for
survival and preservation. If the demands at this level are neglected, it provokes
feelings of frustration that manifest in a tension that can even
break the health
Psycho-social level
The man, at this level, notices the demand to strengthen friendships, to give and receive.
help, feeling like an active part of a community of people, etc., comprises the
psychic activities connected with the need to develop relationships

The immediate motivation that drives this action is the awareness of
Its own limit that makes it recognize the need it has for others.
The satisfactory scheme learns through the repetition of homogeneous acts that
they are shown to be effective in achieving the objective. The perception of reality is
constituted by persons; but seen not necessarily in themselves and in their
intrinsic value, but in relation to a relationship.
Spiritual rational level
This level encompasses the psychic activities connected with the need for
to know the truth, and with the human capacity to grasp the nature of things,
abstracting them from the data of the senses. This power is called intelligence or
"spirit" has no measurable dimensions, it is outside of time and space.
The person discovers contents and activities that are revealed to be transcendent, in this
dimension, the problem of man is created around his destiny and existence,
the absolute affirmation of being or of value that is conceived regarding certain realities,
the experience of moral obligation, the problem posed by knowledge, etc.
these psychic contents imply that human psychic life transcends the
limits of being and the limits of a materially closed and determined process in itself
same
For this reason, at this level the person finds motivation in a desire to know,
to solve the fundamental problems such as self-knowledge, of one's own place
in the world, of the meaning of life and death. At the same time, such was this desire
supported by the instrumental capacity, typical of man, to achieve, at least
in part, the truth of things and by the conscience of an attraction towards her that goes
beyond the simple subjective desire and indicates, in the search for truth, the true
vocation of every man.
The three levels of psychic life show the truly different ends of the
individuals. Each man discovers different types of satisfaction in the course of his
life, and assigns different values to the objects it wants to obtain or avoid.
From a genetic point of view, that is, from the origin, the first ones develop.
physiological aspects, relational ones, and finally the spiritual ones. But in the
hierarchical aspect, in light of its dignity, the order is reversed, the superior values
they are placed at the top of being, they carry out the integration or unification of the organism
according to the own philosophy of life
