Methods of Evangelism Used by Paul

Pablo used several effective methods to evangelize. He argued with Jews in the synagogues using the Scriptures to show that Jesus was the Messiah. He also evangelized to large audiences in public places such as the Areopagus in Athens. He founded strong churches in important cities so that they would continue to spread the gospel.

Evangelism Methods Used by Paul

Introduction: The man born in Tarsus, belonging to the tribe of

Benjamin, was according to what the Holy Scriptures cite, the pursuer.
of the Christians (Acts 9:1). But God had an excellent purpose
for this killer, who later became one of the
great apostles of Jesus (Romans 1:1). We are talking
exactly from Saul who would later change his name to
Pablo, just like his life, was also changed (2 Corinthians 5:17). This
man, carried out the greatest missionary work and used methods the
which the church of today admires. In this study we will see them.
in detail.

Methods of evangelism used by

the apostle Paul.
i. the debate. (Acts 17:2-3)
Pablo used to enter the Jewish synagogues and discuss with
they, giving true evidence, using the genuine word of God
what was necessary for Christ to suffer and rise from the dead,
he would then present Jesus to them as the Messiah in whom he had
fulfilled the prophecy given by Isaiah in the year 690 B.C.
The method was widely used by the apostles and leaders of the Church.
, when they were addressing the Jews. An example of this is taken from
in the First Sermon of Peter, which quotes the Old Testament
to make them aware of the compelling coming of Jesus whom he calls 'The
Christ,” we also find it in the defense of Stephen which
starting from Abraham, through the prophecy inspired by the
Holy Spirit to Moses (Deuteronomy 18:15-18) who spoke about
from the coming of the Messiah, ends with Solomon emphasizing the
miracles given to the children of Israel in the desert, urging them to
regret. Finally, Felipe, when speaking to the Ethiopian, shows to
through a messianic passage of the Old Testament, the light of the
hope called Jesus. Verse 2 of chapter 17 of the book of the

by the apostle Paul using Luke the expression 'used to' which
it denotes that it was something that Pablo constantly did.
His way of evangelizing the Jews.

Pablo uses a lethal weapon when evangelizing to the Jews: 'The Scriptures.' The
Chapter 13 of the book of Acts provides a broad clarification on
regarding, after his arrival with Barnabas and John Mark in Antioch of
Pisidia, a region south of Galatia, enters as it was accustomed to a
synagogue on the Sabbath. The Sabbath was their day of gathering,
since they did not work, and did not carry out any activity. In the
the synagogue of Antioch was where Paul delivered his first speech
missionary. In front of the Jews, he practically cites the Old Testament.
Will. John D. Woodbridge tells us the following about it:
Everyone could be attributed a certain knowledge of the Ancients.
Will. That is why Paul reminds them of the history of Israel, from,
Moses up to David regarding a descendant of his have been
accomplished in Jesus. He, killed by his enemies, has been resurrected.
by the power of God; through Him salvation has been guaranteed to them
to all believers.
Unlike the sermon delivered by Stephen, it caused in the Jews
a 'itch' to keep listening to Pablo who the next day
of rest came to talk to them again. This caused in the people of
to hear more of the gospel, but a huge zeal among the Jews.
Implementation of the Method.
Pablo gives a great lesson to each one of us. First, not
he contended with them, debating by presenting truthful evidence
extracted from the Scriptures that Jesus was the long-awaited Messiah of
Israel. The problem with each of us is that we present to
other groups such as Catholics, Jehovah's Witnesses, or even
Muslims, our doctrinal point of view and we do not present to
through the writings what we want to convey. Presenting
our point of view is wrong, since the Lord has us
call to free the oppressed by the devil not to contend in a way
dogmatic what we think about some passage. We can take the
example of Paul who, upon knowing the scriptures, knew how we
we say 'to reach them' to the Jews and thus convert some of them to
Christ.
ii. mass evangelization (Acts 17:16-34)
It should be noted that Paul became the Apostle to the Gentiles.
This great task was practically entrusted to her by God.
missionary, but the gentiles lacked places at that moment
meeting keys, not like the Jews who possessed the synagogue. Paul
he used in this case the mass evangelization method, which,
it consists of gathering the largest number of people in one place
specific. A clear example is his arrival in Athens in the
where the majority of Athenians gather at the Areopagus, which was the
supreme court in Athens. This court used to meet in the
Ares Hill (Mars Hill), a rocky hill located in front of the
Acropolis. Since after their custom of entering the synagogue and
to discuss the word with Jews and Greeks, the Epicureans took him

these upon hearing him speak in the market (Where the crowd of people
was immense), he was summoned at the Areopagus. Since the Athenians
they gathered upon hearing something new, Pablo begins in Athens to
to deliver his second missionary speech. Paul is now silent.

explain the coming judgment, to finally tell them that they could have
a hope in a man who had risen from the dead,
speaking like this about Jesus. Many did not believe, but others like Dionysius
and Damaris yes.
Implementation of the Method.
This is one of the most commonly used methods by the modern Church. It

I showed the Athenians the coming judgment, but I speak about the
person who could save them, thus presenting Jesus as the
most worthy Son of God.
iii. the founding of churches.
Paul was the great founder of the Gentile churches. His style was to seek
key places and establish a church in that location. He remained in
a place only the time it takes to preach the gospel there and
build a strong community of believers who would become a
testimony center for that area. He focused his efforts on the
most important cities, which were located along the main roads
Romans; if the gospel took root in them, the believers of
they could use those existing lines of communication for
further extend their faith.
Sometimes I entrusted my collaborators with the continuation of the
pastoral ministry among his converts (such is the case of Timothy,
pastor of the Church in Ephesus) but he couldn't always do it. With
regarding the growth Rolando Allen in his book "Missionary Methods"
"The ones from San Pablo or ours?" explains:
In just over ten years, Pablo established the Church in four
provinces of the Empire: Galicia, Macedonia, Achaea and Asia. Before the year
In 47 A.D. there were no churches in those provinces; in 57 A.D. Paul
it gives the impression that their work there was already done... This is in
reality, an astonishing fact.
Pablo made the Church grow in an impressive way. His
evangelization methodology I took it to Rome where I did not stop
preach the gospel and continued with his work. Let us be guided

This man who became known as the great persecutor of the Church.
The beginnings of this were what years later made it grow using
his own missionary style. This Apostle has given us a great
teaching of humility and sacrifice, as every Christian should have.
