Troubleshooting
General
Battery % appears incorrect
1. This typically happens when a new battery is connected the Kit or the first time the Kit is powered on.
2. Follow the battery calibration procedure in slide 26

Battery % is decreasing while the Kit is charging

1. This can happen when the Laptop battery is very low
2. At this point it appears that the Kit is charging very slow and in some cases the battery % appears to be decreasing.
3. As the Laptop battery % is increasing, the Kit battery % will start increasing faster.

Charging and Using the Kit

1. You can charge and use the Kit simultaneously. This might impact the lifespan of the battery.
2. There will be an audible alarm when the battery reaches 10%
3. Connect the Kit to the charger when you hear the alarm

Troubleshooting

Getting the Kit Ready to start troubleshooting

1. Make sure that the battery is charged between 60% and 80% and the Kit is powered on.
2. Ensure that the battery is connected, please check the connection on the battery.
3. If the Kit does not power on, charge it for 3 hours and try again.
4. If the Kit still does not power on after charging it for 3 hours, remove the battery and charge the battery directly until the 75% LED
turns green. If no LEDs light up, leave the battery on the charger for 3 hours.
5. Connect it to the Kit and power on the Kit.
6. Should the battery not charge when charged directly, it could indicate a faulty battery or charger.
7. Try to charge the battery with another working charger.
8. If the battery still does not charge, the battery is most likely faulty and needs to be replaced.

Note:
The LED on the charger is red while the kit is charging and will turn green when the kit is fully charged.
The above steps will identify and eliminate any issues that might be experienced related to the battery and the charger.
Troubleshooting

Troubleshooting Individual Hardware Components

1. Make sure the kit is powered on.

2. Use the test application provided by BioRugged.
3. Power off the Kit and unscrew the screws on the metal plate.
4. Open the metal plate very gently and do not put any stress on the cables connecting to the charging port.
5. Trace to USB cable to the USB HUB. Make sure that it is connected securely and re-seat the cable.
6. Trace the power cable (components that have a power cable) to the power board. Make sure the cable is connected securely and
re-seat the cable.
7. Return everything to normal and test again.
8. If it still fails, replace the component.
9. If it still fails after replacing the individual component, replace the USB HUB.
10. The last step would be to replace the power board

Note:
1. The steps to trouble each component is similar.
2. Multi Component failure is mostly as a result a faulty USB HUB, power board, connectivity to the battery, or the battery itself.
3. Check the power connection to the USB HUB.
Troubleshooting

Troubleshooting Hardware Components

1. Component failure is normally the result of the following causes.

• The hardware component failed
• The connection to the USB HUB Failed
• The connection to the power board failed (where applicable)
• The USB HUB failed
• The power board failed
• There is no power to the power board or USB HUB

Note:
1. The steps to trouble each component is similar.
2. Multi Component failure is mostly as a result a faulty USB HUB, power board, connectivity to the battery, or the battery itself.
3. Positions on the USB can be changed during trouble shooting.
4. If the USB connection to the Laptop is faulty, none of the components will be recognised.
Troubleshooting

Troubleshooting Software

1. The end user application is not supplied by BioRugged. The end user application is developed by the software team, and it might
make use of the specific SDK for each component supplied by BioRugged.
2. The first point of contact should be the support team that supports the end user application.
3. BioRugged provides a test application for every hardware component supplied.
4. These test applications can be used to confirm if the issue is software or hardware related.

Note:
1. Test the end user application
2. Use the BioRugged Test application for the specific component
