General Instructions:
(1) There are 33 questions in all. All questions are compulsory.
(2) This question paper has five sections: Section A, Section B, Section C, Section D and Section E.
(3) Section A contains sixteen questions, twelve MCQ and four Assertion Reasoning based of 1
mark each, Section B contains five questions of two marks each, Section C contains seven
questions of three marks each, Section D contains two case study-based questions of four
marks each and Section E contains three long answer questions of five marks each.
(5) There is no overall choice. However, an internal choice has been provided in one question in
Section B, one question in Section C and all three questions in Section E. You have to attempt
only one of the choices in such questions.
(6) Use of calculator is not allowed.

26 Obtain the equation for the radius of path of a charged particle entering to a 3
magnetic field perpendicular to it. Also explain what will happen if the
particle enters obliquely to the magnetic field.

30 A science teacher demonstrates an experiment using a strong bar magnet and 4
a coil connected to a galvanometer. She moves the north pole of the magnet
towards the coil and notices the galvanometer needle deflects to one side.
When she pulls the magnet away, the needle deflects to the opposite side.
She explains that the coil generates an induced current when the magnetic
field linked with it changes, and this current always opposes the change that
causes it — a phenomenon known as Lenz’s Law.

32 (II) (i) Define the term mutual inductance. Deduce the expression for the mutual
inductance of two long coaxial solenoids of the same length having
different radii and different number of turns.
(ii) The current through an inductor is uniformly increased from 0 to 2A
in 40 s. An emf of 5 mV is induced during this period. Find the flux
linked with the inductor at t = 10 s.
33 (I) Using phasor diagram, derive an expression for the impedance of a series 5
LCR circuit. Also draw the impedance triangle.

33 (II) An input potential Vin=200 Sin 100𝜋𝑡 is provided to an ideal transformer
having 1000 turns in primary coil and 100 turns in secondary coil. The load
circuit has a resistance f 4Ω, a capacitive reactance f Ω and an inductive
reactance f 6Ω connected in series. Find: (i) the output voltage across the
load circuit (ii) the current flowing through the load circuit (iii) the power
supplied to the load circuit by the transformer.
