4. Key Development
➢ School-based Positive Values Curriculum
In each school term, learning activities which are related to the twelve
core positive values, e.g. ‘law-abidingness, unity and national identity’
will be implemented.
➢ SSRB
Development of Dictionary Skills: By noting down definitions and
examples, students learn how to use new words in context, enhancing
their ability to express ideas in writing. As students look up assigned
or difficult words in the dictionary, they encounter new vocabulary
and phrases like synonyms and antonyms. This exposure further
enriches their language skills and broadens their vocabulary bank for
writing.
Note-taking: Teaching students effective note-taking strategies which
can enhance their understanding and retention of information and
could improve their reading and writing. Students use mind maps or
graphic organizers such as Venn diagrams and flow charts to help
themselves visualize relationships between concepts, thus can make
information more manageable and engaging.
➢ Reading WS
Reading workshops will be integrated into the curriculum to enhance
students' literacy skills. Each Reading Worksheet will focus on different
reading strategies. Students can employ the strategies in the following
comprehension practice.
➢ Task-based WS
Students will be able to apply the vocabulary and language items in
meaningful in-class tasks. Besides, students have to do extended reading
on the related topics by scanning the QR codes.
➢ Values Education WS:
The concepts of positive values and national security education are
introduced as integral components of the respective module.
➢ Development of Text Sets (DTS)Programme
Different authentic texts will be used in teaching English so as to
integrate the knowledge and skills learnt from different subjects to
English Language learning.
Students' literacy development will be enhanced. Positive values and
attitudes will also be instilled in students.
➢ Use artificial intelligence (AI) to improve students' pronunciation and
intonation: Inspirational quotes or poems will be assigned to students on
TEAMS Speaker Progress, which could improve students’ speaking skills
by understanding their own strength and weakness.
