Background and Rationale of WAP Plan:
Briefly describe why the WAP will be implemented. Identify the competency gaps that will be addressed and the current performance
level on key result area(s).
The implementation of the Workplace Application Plan (WAP) is driven by the need to enhance teachers’ ability to design high-
quality assessment tools that move beyond mere recall of facts and instead measure higher-order thinking skills. This initiative responds
to the increasing demand for assessments that mirror real-world contexts and foster critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, as
highlighted in the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA).
The One-Day Training Workshop on the Development of PISA-like Test Questions equipped Public Schoold District Supervisors,
School Heads, and District Secondary Coordinators, with strategies for designing authentic, scenario-based test items across learning
areas. These skills directly address competency gaps in assessment literacy, particularly in formulating tasks that integrate retrieval,
interpretation, and evaluation — skills vital for learners to succeed in both local and international benchmarks. Current classroom
assessment practices often rely heavily on rote-based questioning, limiting opportunities for learners to develop analytical, integrative,
and reflective thinking skills.
The WAP will be implemented through a cascading session in Kumalarang District to ensure that all secondary teachers gain
access to the tools, frameworks, and examples from the training. This will create a unified approach to assessment design, ensuring that
test questions are aligned with curriculum standards while promoting deeper learning and learner engagement.
By integrating these approaches into classroom practice, teachers will be able to produce assessment tasks that are
contextualized, learner-centered, and performance-based. Furthermore, the WAP will serve as a structured mechanism for translating
professional development into measurable classroom outcomes, with continuous monitoring and peer support to sustain gains.
Ultimately, this initiative reinforces DepEd’s commitment to equip teachers with the skills to design valid, reliable, and meaningful
assessments, thereby improving instructional quality and contributing to better learner performance in both national and international

Application Objective
The Work and Application Plan (WAP) aims to apply the enhanced content knowledge, pedagogy, and ICT integration
strategies gained from the training into actual Grade 8 Science instruction. It also aims to enhance learner engagement and outcomes
through inclusive, contextualized, and reflective teaching practices that align with the Philippine Professional Standards for Teachers
(PPST).

Monitoring and Evaluation
● Means of Verification: Lesson plans demonstrating content integration and contextualization, Photo documentation of classroom
implementation (e.g., teaching demos, student outputs), Certificates of participation in LAC sharing or post-training cascading
sessions, Reflective journals or updated teaching philosophies, Peer observation notes and supervisor feedback forms
● Monthly Review: Monthly check-ins with supervisors, Presentation of outputs during LAC sessions, Progress tracking per WAP
objective, Coaching and feedback mechanisms
● End-of-WAP Assessment: Final WAP output evaluation, Teacher reflection forms, Classroom observation by supervisor using PPST-
aligned rubric (e.g., content, ICT use, diversity), Supervisor validation checklist, Recommendation for scaling or improvement
