Peer Tutoring

Peer tutoring involves students assisting other students who are struggling to understand course material. It can take three forms: student-to-student tutoring where peers help each spontaneously; tutor-to-group where teachers select tutors to lead group instruction; and tutor-to-student where tutors provide one-on-one help. Peer tutoring aims to improve learning outcomes by allowing students to learn from peers in a less intimidating environment than teacher-led instruction. It relies on students with stronger academic abilities to help those struggling in a way that is easily understood by peers.
