ZEROING, WEIGHING AND CALIBRATION

These two functions are performed by pressing the 0 key.
When the instrument is in the 'net' operating mode (the 'NET' LED is on
(dido), the 0 key performs automatic calibration.
When the instrument is in the 'gross' operating mode (the 'NET' LED is off
the 0 key is used to delete the gross weight.

AUTOMATIC CALIBRATION
The automatic calibration can be carried out under the following conditions:
Instrument in 'net' conditions (the 'NET' LED is on).
Positive gross weight.
The gross weight does not exceed the maximum capacity.
Stable currency.
• Unstable weight. In this condition, we must distinguish two cases:
1. The weight stability control is activated (the parameter "MOTION" (*) must not be equal to
zero): the command that is executed while the weight is unstable only takes effect if the weight takes
to stabilize for 3 seconds from the moment the command is issued.
2. Weight stability control is disabled (the parameter "MOTION" (*) is equal to zero):
The executed command is applied immediately, even with unstable weight.
The operating modes of the "MOTION" parameter are described on page 27.
The automatic calibration is stored in memory even after turning off the ali-switch.

RESET
The gross weight reset command is used to correct small zero drifts of the system.
of weighing during normal operation.
Normally, these zero drifts are due to thermal drifts or material residues that are
they accumulate in the weighing system over time.
To execute the command, it is necessary for the instrument to be in 'raw' conditions (with the
LED "NET" off) and that the weight deviation from the scale's zero (the one that is done
with the zero calibration) does not exceed (neither positively nor negatively) the number of divisions defined in
the "0 BAND" parameter (in the PARAM menu).
The command to reset the gross weight does not execute if one of the following occurs
conditions:

• Unstable weight (with weight stability control activated). In this case, the command of

of the stability of the peso (the parameter 'MOTION' is equal to zero).
The gross weight is greater (positively or negatively) than the number of divisions defined in the param-

The zero obtained with the reset of the gross weight is saved in memory.
even when the device is turned off.
The gross weight reset operation can be repeated multiple times, but the reset
from zero divisions accumulates so that when the total exceeds the limit value defined in the parameter
"0 BAND", the zeroing cannot be executed. In this case, it is necessary to calibrate the zero.
When adjusting any automatic calibration parameter upon turning on the instrument (AUTO 0), it reduces
(or cancels, in the case of “AUTO 0”> “0 BAND”) the range of action of the reset command.

PEAK FUNCTION
The instrument continuously records the peak value of the gross weight. The peak value is detected at
the same frequency of weight acquisition (see the table on filters). In addition to visualization,

SERIAL COMMUNICATION PROTOCOLS

PROTOCOLO DE TRANSMISIÓN CONTINUO, AUTOMÁTICO Y MANUAL

These protocols have been programmed into your programming menu.
The chain is transmitted as follows:

STX <status> <net weight> <gross weight> <peak> ETX EOT

Where
STX (start of text) = 0x02h
ETX (end of text) = 0x03h
EOT (end of transmission) = 0x04.
<status> = un carácter ASCII que acepta los siguientes valores:
"S" = stable peso.
"M" = weight that is not stable (in motion).
O = weight greater than the maximum capacity.
"E" = weight that cannot be detected.
<net weight> = campo que incluye el peso neto en 6 caracteres ASCII.
<gross weight> = campo que incluye el peso bruto en 6 caracteres ASCII.
<peak> = campo que incluye el pico en 6 caracteres ASCII.
2 ASCII control characters are calculated taking into account that the ca- are excluded.
Characters between STX and ETX. The control value is obtained by performing the XOR operation (or excluding it).
from the 8-bit ASCII codes of the characters that are taken into account. The result is a character
which is expressed in hexadecimal with 2 digits that can accept values between '0' and '9' and 'A' and 'F'.
<chksum> is the ASCII encoding of the two hexadecimal digits.
In case the continuous communication protocol is used, the specified string is transmitted to
a frequency of 10 Hz, regardless of the selected weight filter.
In case the automatic and manual communication protocols are used between 2 transmissions of the
weight, the weight must have a variation corresponding to at least 20 divisions.

SLAVE TRANSMISSION PROTOCOL

LIST OF AVAILABLE CONTROLS
Request for net and gross weight and the current peak.
Change in gross weight.
Change in net weight.
Reset command, automatic calibration or peak reset.
Programming of the two weight consignments
Request for the scheduled deposits.
Control of the storage of consignments in permanent memory.
The unit connected to the instrument (usually a personal computer) functions as the MASTER.
and it is the only unit that can start a communication process.
The communication process must be carried out through the transmission of a chain by means of the
MASTER followed by the response of the corresponding SLAVE.

DESCRIPTION OF THE FIELDS
Double quotes contain constant characters (keep uppercase and lowercase); the sim-
bolos <y> contain variable numerical fields.
addr = Address of the series communication of the instrument; it is the ASCII character that is obtained
adding 80h to the address number (for example, address 1: <Addr> = 80h + 01h = 81h).
checksum = checksum of the data in the string. It is calculated by performing the exclusive OR
(XOR) of all characters in <Addr> up to ETX, excluding the last one; the result of XOR is
break into 2 characters considering separately the upper 4 bits (first
character) and the 4 lower bits (second character); the 2 characters obtained are encoded to
continuation in ASCII (example: XOR = 5Dh; <csum> = "5Dh", that is 35h and 44h).
ETX (end of text) = 0x03h,
EOT (fin de la transmisión) = 0x04,
ACK (acknowledgment) = 0x06h,
NAK (without confirmation) = 0x15h.

MODBUS RTU PROTOCOL
The addresses indicated in the following tables use the standard address specified.
in the Modicon PI-MBUS-300 guidelines. Below is an excerpt that assists the user
to communicate with the instrument.
All the data addresses of the Modbus messages have zero as a reference. To the
The first occurrence of a data item is assigned the element number zero. For example:
The coil referred to as 'coil 1' in a programmable controller is coil 0000 in the
data address field of a Modbus message.

By turning off the instrument, the DAT will restore the value it had before the change.
If not specified otherwise, numerical values (such as addresses, codes, and data) are expressed
as decimal values.
For any hardware configuration of the instrument (FIELDBUS or analog), the protocol
MODBUS RTU is always available on COM1 RS232; in case there is no Fieldbus, the pro-
MODBUS RTU protocol is also available on COM2 RS485.

RESPONSE TIMES OF THE INSTRUMENT

To respond to most requests, the instrument takes a maximum time of 20 milliseconds.
seconds.
These are the exceptions:
the e2prom Backup command (maximum time = 350 milliseconds)
• writing of the records of cell capacity, cell sensitivity, net weight,
the system calibration, the filter (maximum time = 550 milliseconds).

MANAGEMENT OF COMMUNICATION ERRORS

The CRC (from the English acronym Cyclic Redundancy Check) with-
troubles the communication chains. In the event that a communication error occurs, the slave
do not respond with a string. The teacher must take into account the timeout exhaustion
for the receipt of the response. In case there is no response, an error has occurred.

In the event that the chain is received correctly but cannot be executed, the slave responds.

EXAMPLE: CALIBRATION FUNCTION USING MODBUS

To perform the calibration of the scale range (for which the value of the weight of the record is needed)
the value of the data record must exist when the command logging is scheduled.
For example:
Calibrate the scale using a sample weight of 2000 kg.
Write 2000 in the data register.
Write 0x0011 in the command register.
Use the multiple record writing function and write the records from the data log and the
command logging in a single command.
