Tripura University, established in 1987, by the State Government under the Tripura University Act 1987. The University Campus at Suryamaninagar is located 9 kms south of the capital city of Agartala in a green semi-urban setting by the side of the National Highway No-44 connecting Silchar, Shillong and Guwahati. Besides Department of Business Management, the University has at present PostGraduate Departments: Botany, Chemistry, Geography and Disaster Management, Human Physiology, Mathematics, Physics, Zoology, Information Technology & Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Bengali, Commerce, Analytical and Applied Economics, English, Hindi, History, Philosophy, Political Science, Sanskrit, Rural Management and Development, Fine Arts, Music, Journalism and Mass Communication and also Diploma Courses in Bamboo Cultivation and Resource Utilization, Rubber Technology and Tribal Language. The Tripura University is presently offering B.A, B.ED, MA in Education, MA in Political Science, MA in Bengali and DCA (Diploma in Computer Applications) courses in distance learning mode under the Directorate of Distance Education. So far, Tripura University has affiliated General Degree Colleges 17 (seventeen), affiliated Professional Degree Colleges 15 (fifteen) and 3 (three) affiliated Technical Colleges. . Tripura University has been Accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), Bangalore, in 2002 adding another feather to its crown. In July, 2007, Tripura University has been converted into Central University.

LEARNING ENVIRONMENT
Pedagogy:
Department of Business Management, Tripura University, believes that the method of instruction for maximising learning should vary from course to course, and therefore, it uses a host of pedagogic approaches as listed below. Major emphasis is given on developing right attitudes and values besides specialised skills for working in the real world of management.

Conceptual Sessions:
Classroom lectures concentrate more on clarifying the conceptual parts of the subjects being taught.

Group and Individual Presentations:

As verbal communication is one of the essential qualities of a good manager, emphasis is given on developing the presentation skills of the students.

Case Studies:
For developing the analytical and problem-solving skills of the students, most of the subjects cover a good number of cases, briefly describing real world management problems.

Modern Teaching Aids:

Overhead Projectors, Laptop and LCD Projectors, and other modern teaching devices are used in classroom discussions.

Seminars and Workshops:

In addition to classroom activities, Seminar-Lectures and Workshops by industry experts are conducted as part of learning process.

Computer Based Models:

As computer has become an integral part of any field of study today, Department of Business Management, Tripura University, also weaves computer-based models into its learning processes.

Summer and other projects:

A summer project for a period of 4 to 6 weeks at the end of second semester and two more projects in third and fourth semesters have been made compulsory.

Industrial Visits:
Industrial visits are organised every year for the MBA students to acquaint themselves with real business environment.

Other Activities:
Department of Business Management, Tripura University, undertakes various other activities for the students, so that they can excel in their jobs as well as in their lives.

ADMISSION PROCESS AND SELECTION PROCEDURE

Eligibility: Graduate (honours or pass) / Post Graduate in Commerce/ Science/ Arts/ Management from a recognised University with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate or Graduate in Engineering/ Technology/ Computer Application/ Medical Science/ Pharmacy/ Agriculture with at least 60% marks in aggregate (5% marks relaxation in case of SC/ST candidates in both the cases) and having a minimum composite score of 500 in the MAT (Management Aptitude Test) conducted by All India Management Association (AIMA), New Delhi are eligible to apply for admission in MBA course in the Department of Business Management. Candidates appearing in their final degree examinations are also eligible to apply provided they have secured minimum of a composite score of 500 in the MAT. Candidates selected for admission in MBA Programme will be required to submit their degree marksheets on or before the last date of admission.

Selection Procedure: Selection will be made on the basis of MAT score, past academic records, Group Discussion and Personal Interview. Candidates short-listed on the basis of MAT scores will be called for Group Discussion and Personal Interview at Department of Business Management, Tripura University.

Reservation: As per Central Government Rules.

Filled in Application form should be submitted to the Department of Business Management, Tripura University, Suryamaninagar-799022 along with all the attested copies of relevant testimonials and a Demand Draft of Rs.300/- (for General and OBC) and Rs.125(for ST/SC/PH category) in favour of Registrar, Tripura University, payable at SBI, Tripura University Campus Branch (code 10495).
