Early Life
Adi Godrej was born in a business family on 3rd April1942. At the age of 17,he left India to study business management. He obtained both his bachelor's and the master's degree in management from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Adi Godrej and Family


Adi Godrej is son of Mr.Burjoji Godrej and Mrs.Jai Godrej. He is married to Mrs. Parmeshwar Godrej ,has three children and two grandchildren. He worked his way up under the tutelage of his father- Burjoji Godrej and Naval Godrej,his business guru.

Development into a Business-men


Adi Godrej is the chairman of Godrej Industries Ltd. and many related entities. Before Adi joined the family business, Godrej was into the manufacturing of locks and soaps. Adi made the management structure more systematic and improved the standards of the products. After the liberalization process, Adi Godrej restructured company's policies to meet the challenges of globalisation.

Social Activities
Adi Godrej is an Indian industrialist and philanthropist. He initiated the built of a huge 150 acre mangrove forests in the township of Vikhroli in Mumbai. His company has built a management institute at Hyderabad apart from building a school for the children of the employees.

Achievements
As of 2011,he is one of the richest Indians with net worth of US$7.3 billion. He is 130 on Forbes List of Billionaires. Also He is the second richest person of Iranian descent in the world. Mr. Godrej is a recipient of several awards and recognitions including the Rajiv Gandhi Award 2002.

Participation of Adi Godrej in Godrej Groups development


In the early 2000s, the Group completed a 10year restructuring process through which each business became a stand-alone company. The brand value of the group has been put at $2.86 billion by global brand consultancy firm Interbrand. The century old company claims to be the only Indian company with the largest consumer touchpoint with 470 million consumers.

Contribution to Trade, Commerce and Education


Adi participated actively in the field of management education as a former Chairman of the Governing Council of the Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies, as a former member of the Deans Advisory Council of the MIT Sloan School of Management and the Wharton Asian Executive Board. Adi is a member of Tau Beta Pi (The Engineering Honor Society) and also serves as a member of the Governing Board of the Indian School of Business.

Other than Business-Activities


Adi spends plenty of time travelling and has travelled to over 70 countries with his family. He is completely open to change, especially the change that has been swept in by technology. He is very well organized disciplined and punctual. He does not believe in having idols, but does respect industrialists JRD Tata and Dhirubhai Ambani.
