CST Test Preparation & Review

By: Aries Vasquez & Monica Morales Period:2

About The Test

It tells the principal what classes you are going to. It starts on the April 22th.
Based on the test scores, the school gets a accountability report which shows whether the school has improved or needs improvement.

How Ive Prepared for the CST

We studied more. We pay more attention in class. We do strategies that we learned in classes.

How SFMS teachers have prepared me for the CST

Our teacher gave us released test questions for us to practice. They review some questions that are going to be in the CST. We also practice in a book called measuring up. We do a lot of tests so we can improve in the CST

The Night & Morning Before

You can study for the test. You can go to bed early. We can eat breakfast so it can help us concentrate.

During the Test

Organize your materials. Get relaxed. Read directions carefully. Ask questions if you don't understand or need clarification. Try to supply your own answer before choosing an alternative listed on the test.

Math Tips

When practicing, try to solve the problem on your own first then look at the answer or seek help if you are having trouble. Make up a sheet with all the formulas you need to know and memorize all the formulas on the sheet. Read the directions carefully and don't forget to answer all parts of the question. Show all your work (especially when partial credit is awarded) and write as legibly as possible.
Even if you know the final answer is wrong, don't erase your entire work because you may get partial credit for using the correct procedure.

English Tips
Read

the questions first. Read the questions carefully. Choose the best answer. Make sure you understand the story. Use context clues if you dont the meaning of a word.

Integers
The

numbers can be positive or negative. The numbers can be big. When the numbers are negative & positive you subtract. When the numbers has the same sign you add. Integers are just subtracting and adding numbers.

Integers
They

are really easy to do. They can be really long. Sometimes they can be hard. They are fun to do. They are always in tests.

Example

+36 + +24 --------

1. You have to check if the numbers are positive or negative. 2.Then you add or subtract the numbers. 3. Since they are both positive you add them. 4. Since you added the numbers the answer will be +60!

Spelling!!!!

Spelling becomes an important part of the language arts experience.

Spelling rules are a bit like weather forecasts: we may use them, but we really can't depend on them to be right 100% of the time.
EXAMPLES: Stop+ ing=stopping Spelling is a major thing when it comes to writing because it becomes something really important.

Good luck SFMS Students
