Issues and Challenges of Veggie Kart Company Overview Veggie Kart is a consumer and farmer beneficial retail initiative taken up by Veggie Kart Marketing Pvt. Ltd. Using an online e-commerce platform, Veggie Kart deal with providing the consumers with fresh and quality vegetables. The twin intent of this initiative is the economic benefit of farmers and access to nutritious and fresh vegetables by consumers. At the same time this shall completely eliminate the role of middlemen from the value chain.
1. Competitors
No of competitors are more. Example: Reliance fresh, Udyan fresh, local markets. Local Vegetable market is a tough competitor amongst all. Online competitors like haata.in, panipariba.com are also present in Odisha who deliver similar services like Veggie Kart. 2. Unawareness Most people in Bhubaneswar are still unaware of Veggie kart. Not enough promotional activities have done by Veggie kart.
3. Operation Financing for farmers to purchase agri- inputs. Making farmer groups in selected villages. Supply chain integration in new geographies. Value chain integration 4. Procurement Very less areas of procurement (Nayagarh, Pipili, Banki, Athagarh) Transportation of produce form crop field to central processing unit by local logistics providers Only contract farming based procurement, no other alternatives
5. Area of operation Not spread throughout Odisha. Operating only in Bhubaneswar. Very less chance to adopt business in whole state as except BBSR(corporate town), most of the undeveloped areas have no access to internet facility or unawareness of e-buying.
6. Buying People generally prefer buying vegetable on the spot, physically. Purchasing vegetables less than 150 rupees is not acceptable by Veggie Kart. Delivery charges have to given by the buyers if ordered online.
7. Online services Website review of veggie kart by "woorank.com" shows that, No of visitors: Very Low Social Shareability: Not popular in social media Mobile load time: Very Slow(not optimized to view in different mobile platforms) Odia language support is not available.

With a large smallholder farmer base, eKutir has opened up the direct farmer to consumer linkage, in order to remove pilferages in the existing agriculture retail chain and bring quality, benefit, and impact to both the farmers and consumers. VeggieKart is the brand, which would comprise of the following: VeggieKart An online e-commerce platform for the consumers to purchase fresh veggies, daily. VeggieMart Retail shops branded with VeggieKart, selling fresh, hygienic, and packaged veggies to consumers VeggieWheel Organizing vegetable vendors and allowing them to sell branded veggies through air conditioned (AC) push carts and earn a livelihood VeggieLite Giving access to fresh and hygienic veggies to the low income groups in the urban slums. VISION To provide a platform for both farmers and customers, where they can match each others requirement on Quality, Price, and Quantity (QPQ) for the farm produce.

Nothing For Tomorrow The produces are fresh and are procured on an everyday basis. Stale produces are tossed out and the previous days produces are sent back to be resold through various channels. Thus, you are inevitably provided with the freshest of day to day produces.
Suitable Care In Storage Products are stored at ideal temperatures and suitable conditions to sustain their freshness. They maintain hygiene and sanitization standards. They ensure that 100% garden fresh produces are provided to the customers for healthy consumption at all times.
Top Quality Vendors Farmers play a vital role in VeggieKart, as the whole chain of VeggieKart starts from them. They aim to provide quality produce in low cost to the consumers. The vendors produce with optimum utilization of inputs.
Intensive stock checks When the commodity reaches the Warehouse, a certain procedure is followed. At first weighing is done to ensure the quantity mentioned is correct or not. Then starts the sorting and grading process which ensures that the vegetables of equal size and quality in one pack. After this weighing and packaging of vegetables is done as per the requirement of customer. Packaged vegetables are loaded into the Delivery Wagon. Delivery is made to both VeggieWheels and VeggieMart, from where the final delivery to the customer is made.
Procurement Process How much do they procure ?(quantity) - Based on the demand generated by online shop and demand of goods in market , they procure the vegetables.
From Where And What? - As veggiekart is functioning in Bbsr so they are procuring vegetables from nearby areas like Banki, puri,athagara,nayagarh.(nearly all type of vegetables)
From whom they procure? - they are in contract with the farmers for procuring of vegetables. - They choose good potential farmers from every village and form groups after then farmers are being provided with all backward linkage (starting from seeds to fertillisers) for cultivation. Method of procurement? - From the farmers group veggiekart formed. - Based on the quality norms fixed by the organisation they procure vegetables. Logistics Channel? - Veggie kart dont have their own logistics channel, they depend upon local logistics on contact basis.
