Caesar Ii: General Overview

CAESAR II is pipe stress analysis software that allows users to: 1. Create pipe models using elements between nodes to represent pipes, elbows, valves, and other components. 2. Place supports, hangers, and other restraints between pipe elements using connection nodes. 3. Model expansion joints that absorb displacements and are assigned rigidity values based on axial displacement.

PIPE MODEL

Pipes are created by elements between two nodes.

The nodes are located when a new element is to be defined by

a change of direction , change of properties etc.

Also if we want to know stresses, loads or displacements in

these points.

11

ELBOWS OR BENDS

The elbows are placed in the axis cross

CAESAR II will place two nodes

automatically at 0 and 45 degs
12

RIGIDS

Valves, flanges and specialties are rigids

Two ways of placement, manually or by catalog

CNODES

CONECTION NODES. Cnodes are used to create restriction between different elemnets of
the system. Examples:

Place supports from one pipe to another

Unions and rstrictions between pipes and structures
Connection to equipments with displacements
Soil displacements
Include anchors to show loads in conections. CNODES could be real or ficticius and can
be at the same location

EXPANSION JOINTS

They absorb displacements if there is no any other option available

24

Axial force

Axial force, two factors

INTERNAL PRESSURE

RIGIDITY = Kexpjoint x Axial displacement

F= Efective Area x Internal Pressure
