Background inform ation


Always wanted to be a teacher, but life got in the way
for awhile
Fredonia State College-(2014) Received a Bachelor of
Arts in Theatre Arts and was a part of the Theta chapter
of Alpha Psi Omega, the National Theatre Honors
Fraternity
Medaille College- (Exp. May 2017) Working on a Masters
in Elementary Education and is a part of the Education
Graduate Student Society
I worked for a local early learning academy for almost 2
years working with children aged 6 weeks to 12 years
old

Worked full time for almost a year trying to find ways to
be more involved
Helped students after school with homework
(specifically math)
Found my true calling once more
Knew that I had to get back on track with my life

W hat Ive Learned


In my time at Medaille, Ive learned how to plan
effectively and plan for time as well.
Ive learned how to improve my technology skills to
keep up with the changing society and my future
students growing up as technology natives
Ive learned new techniques of teaching in order to
more effectively reach my students

Creating a Safe Space

M ath Lesson-Associative Property of


M ultiplication
Students are engaged immediately with a multiplication video
to the tune of Uptown Funk
Students define vocabulary and move on to a PowerPoint about
the associative property while also using M&Ms to grasp
conceptual understanding
Students then use elbows macaroni to demonstrate how to use
the associative property while the teacher monitors progress
and assists students when needed
Students are then given task cards with different math
problems on them, struggling readers and ENL students
receive cards without word problems, while others have a set
that includes word problems

Students are welcome to work
together on these problems but
only with a partner, but teacher
offers assistance when needed
Students then get together with
their 5 oclock partners to work on
a rally coach activity and check
each others work
Teacher then hands out exit tickets
and students work independently
on the associative property to
ensure they have grasped both
procedural knowledge and
conceptual understanding
