Green Light Review

Baucis is a city built high above the trees in the clouds. The inhabitants are highly intelligent and examine the forest below from the safety of their stone walls. They have debates about the plants and animals they observe from their lofty perch. The stone construction allows them to plan the movement of heavy materials and provides stability against strong winds. A glass wall allows the inhabitants to view the forest below while protecting them from falling or birds, expressing their desire to be separate from the earth.

CHOSEN CITY - BAUCIS

When I first thought about the city of Baucis I felt that the inhibitions
would be of high intelligent to be able to build a city that is high
above the trees and in the clouds. This thought was also helped
when it talked about the inhabitants looking down to the forest
below and examining it, this made me think that the people living
there would have debates about the different planets and animals
they see.
When thinking about what the city would be made of I first thought
of wood but I remembered that the inhabitants wouldnt want to be
in contact with the earth. So, going back to the high intelligent idea I
thought that stone might be a better answer as it will help to show
that the citys people could plan out moving the large blocks
upwards along with being a more stable structure agents the high
winds of it being up so high.
One of the smaller ideas I had about the city is the way that it might
protect its self from people falling off the side, high winds or a large
group of birds. I thought that the best answer to this would be a wall
made out of glass so the inhabitants can still look out to the forest,
but this idea could also be used if I was following the route of the
inhabitants hating the earth with the only change being a stone wall.

These are the 3 key

thumbnail sketches that I feel
I will be using to for my final
3 concept drawings.
I have chosen these 3 as I
feel that they express the
first ideas I had of the city
and its people, and with a
little tweaking I can add in
the later ideas I had such as
the materials used to build it.
