Welcome: To Sunday School

This document provides the summary of a Sunday school lesson about developing a passion for evangelism. It discusses Jesus' encounter with the Samaritan woman at the well, noting things we can learn about beginning conversations, allowing discussion, being prepared to answer questions, and not considering ethnic barriers. It encourages using one's experiences when sharing faith and defines evangelism as lifestyle evangelism and sharing the gospel despite potential persecution. The key takeaways are developing boldness for evangelism, employing the "come and see" method of sharing testimony, and trusting God for results after praying and doing one's part to spread the good news.

David- MAN OF PASSION

Passion: strong and barely controllable
emotion. an outburst of such emotion.
Davids passion to seek God actually
started from a tender age. David could not
bear to see Gods name being mocked.
David never thought of the limitations He
had in facing Goliath because He was so
confident in the name of God.
God loves faithful people. Faithfulness on
our path pleases and moves God.

LESSON 10 - COME
AND SEE
(WITNESSING AND
EVANGELISM)

Text:
John 4:1-42 (Jesus and the
Samaritan woman)
Central Truth:
We need boldness, a passion
for evangelism. In this lesson, we
discover how we can witness to
others no matter who they are.

OBJECTIVES FOR THIS

LESSON
At the end of this lesson, we are:

To develop a passion for

evangelism.

To employ the come and see

method.

To have an inside look at the

method at work in the scriptures.

Memory verse: John

(N.I.V) Then, 4:28-29
leaving Her water jar, the
woman went back to the town and said to the
people, Come, see a man who told me
everything I ever did. Could this be the
Christ?
(N.L.T) The woman left Her water jar beside
the well and ran back to the village, telling
everyone, Come and see a man who told me
everything I ever did! Could he possibly be
the Messiah?
(K.J.V) The woman then left her water pot,
and went her way into the city, and saith to
the men, Come, see a man, which told me all
things that ever I did: is not this the Christ?

Evangelism is one of Jesus

instructions to us at ascension.
(matt 28:19-20)
Evangelism is one of those
activities we need to carry out if
we want to grow as Christians.

How will you best

describe the reaction
of teenagers to
evangelism today?

Why do most

experience as anything
special to tell other
people about . There has not really being an
experience in their lives. (not really bornagain).
What was your reaction when you
experienced a spectacular breakthrough in a
particular area of your life?
They are not living the life, haunted by guilt.
Fear of faces, not knowing what to say, the
unknown. Do not fear their faces (Jeremiah 1:8)
Absence of glaring results.

LESSON OUTLINES.
THE ENCOUNTER OF THE
SAMARITAN WOMAN WITH JESUS
THE PROCLAMATION OF THE
GOOD NEWS BY JESUS TO THE
SAMARITAN WOMAN

Lets pick out some

things we can learn from
Jesus and the Samaritan
woman about

When you go out for evangelism,

how do you begin your
message?
Jesus started with a talk before
the message itself.
Most people rush directly into the
message when evangelising. Start
with a little secular discussion
(something the person can
actually relate with), try to know
the person more, let there be a
genuine concern about the hearer
(establish a relationship that will

Jesus paid attention to what the

woman was trying to say, even
though she was saying the wrong
things, He allowed her air her
views. In other words, He
created a room for discussion.
Most people dont allow the
hearers to air their views, or we
cut them short while they are
speaking, probably because we
ourselves are not really prepared
(we just crammed some
sentences and we don't want to

Jesus raised up issues that made the

Samaritan woman ask questions.
This calls for preparedness on our
path, before we venture out for
evangelism. Conscious research and
preparation has to be done in the
areas of:
PRAYER (for the Holy Spirit and
power) : No one knows what She/he
may meet when on evangelism
BIBLE STUDY

Jesus, with the power of God upon Him

was able to make mention of something
that happened in the womans life
The presence of the Holy Spirit in
ones life will aid evangelism.
The woman raised up an unimportant
issue.
The hearers may most times raise up
unimportant issues that don't have any
relationship with what is been discussed.
The power of the Holy Spirit which gives
wisdom, and the knowledge of things
happening around will be very helpful in
such situations.

After the woman had that experience,

She evangelised using Her experience
telling people to come and see what
she has experienced.
Evangelism using experiences
Jesus never considered ethnic barriers.
Don't discriminate about people to
evangelise to. EVERYONE NEEDS JESUS

PRACTICAL
GUIDANCES TO
LifestyleEVANGELISM
evangelism: 1 cor 10:31
Living differently wherever will attract people to
Christ.
What should motivate you to evangelise?
God told us to
People need Jesus now and later (John 10:10)
If u feel the urge to share your faith and you
dont, God holds you accountable (Ez 33:7).
And if you share the best but people dont
listen, you have still done your part
(ez20:39). Don't give up on such people, you
may have planted a seed.

What if we are
persecuted and
discouraged by
people?

Conclusion
Jesus did not come into your life to be hidden, He
came in so that you could be His light, so you could
hold Him up for others to see the way to eternal life.
Are you shining the light of Jesus?
Dont get discouraged. God has given you an
important job, but you are responsible for doing that
job. You are not responsible for the results. All you
need do is to:
PRAY
GO OUT
TRUST GOD FOR RESULTS
and let the Holy Spirit do the rest

GOD
BLESS
YOU
