Electrocardiography (ECG or EKG) is a process that records the heart's electrical activity over time using electrodes placed on the skin. The electrodes detect small electrical changes on the skin caused by the heart muscle contracting and relaxing with each heartbeat. An ECG is a common cardiology test that can identify abnormalities related to the heart's electrical conduction system such as bundle branch blocks or heart blocks.

Electrocardiography
Electrocardiography (ECG or EKG) is the process of recording
the electrical activity of the heart over a period of time
using electrodes placed on the skin. These electrodes detect
the tiny electrical changes on the skin that arise from
the heart muscle's electro-physiologic pattern
of depolarizing and repolarizing during each heartbeat. It is a
very commonly performed cardiology test.
