DEFINITION

• The National Physical Planning Council acts as a legislative forum at the federal
level and it aims to enable the Federal and State Goverments to discuss matters
pertaining to urban and rural planning.
• The National Physical Plan is generally a written document that contains plans
and other supporting materials.
• In preparing the draft of the plan, the General Director is required to convene
each State Authority and any authority as may be directed by the National
Physical Planning Council.

for economic efficiency and global competitiveness.
 To optimise utilisation of land and natural resources and sustainable development and biodiversity conservation.
 To promote more balanced regional development for national economic integration and social unity.
 To enhance spatial and environment quality ,diversity,and safety for a high quality of life and liveability.
 To facilitate efficient integrated inter-state connectivity and public common user’s space provision for social
