Find/Browse Form
• Used to search, view, or select one
row or multiple rows.
• Serves as the entry point to an
application.
• Includes a non-input capable grid.
• Includes a find button.
• Includes a select button.
• Includes an add button that takes
you to another form for adding
information.
• Has only one business view
attached.
• Displays data from only one
business view.
Fix/Inspect Form
• Used to view, add, and update a
single record.
• Does not include a grid.
• Can only update one record at a
time.
• Includes an OK button.
• Includes a cancel button.
• Updates the table or saves data to
the database.
• Has only one business view
attached.
• Displays data for only one record.
Header Detail Form
• Used to view, add, and update
multiple detail records.
• Used to add and update a single
header record.
• Does not include a Find button.
• Includes an input-capable grid.
• Has two business views attached.
• Used to update or add records in
two different business views, one
for the grid and one for the form.
Headerless Detail
• Used to view, add, and delete
multiple records.
• Includes an input-capable grid.
• Does not include a Find button.
• Has only one business view
attached.
• Updates only one business view
Search & Select Form
• Used to search and return a value.
• Usually called when a visual assist
is clicked.
• Includes a non-input capable grid.
• Used to view multiple records.
• Includes a find button.
• Has only one business view
attached.
• Used to review records from one
business view.
Parent/Child Form
• Displays information in a
parent/child relationship.
• Displays a tree format on the left
side.
• Displays a grid in browse mode on
the right side.
• The grid can be hidden.
• Detail records display as child
nodes of the tree.
• Has only one business view
attached.
• Can be editable.
Message Form
• Displays messages or requests
action.
• Uses static text.
• Uses modal, not sizable forms.
• Presents push buttons to receive
user action.
• Does not use a business view.
Power Form
• Can include any regular controls.
• Can include multiple tab controls.
• Can include multiple subforms.
• Has only one business view
attached.
• Can include vertical and horizontal
scroll bars.
Subform
• To its parent, it is a control.
• To the controls that it contains, it
is a form.
• All regular controls can be placed
on a subform.
• Has only one business view
attached.
• Can be used as a tab page.
• Cannot include Toolbar and
Form/Row exits.
• No default action buttons are
defined by Form Design Aid; users
must add action buttons to a
subform.
